Uhh, MS does the same thing with office 365
"Knock it off, you two!"
-- OpenOffice/LibreOffice
Remember this is aimed at companies, not consumers. For them these things are legitimate problems, even though google docs is perfectly usable for individuals.

Meanwhile "Windows has finished installing updates and will now restart... Installing update 1/26... do not shut down computer."

LibreOffice and OpenOffice don't exactly have the best relationship either.
I think I'd rather "trust the googlighting stranger" than that creepy singing fat guy.
They're just jealous more people don't use Bing.
Personally, I don't use either.

I can't wait to see Microsoft talk about how to make hot drinks.
Guy who works for a High School IT Dept. here. We're working on going to Google Apps, but it's quite the ballache just getting through to them. Last email from them was two weeks ago.
But who cares, i'm a googleite and lap this shit up.

yeah nah google, you got shit on office
We all know Open Office is the master race.
Libre Office.
Please let google launch a hilarious counterattack...
I want my own big fat black-guy who sings like a God.

Yeah, their support is probably only second to paypal when it comes to lack of speed and efficiency.
Wow people on youtube are idiots. Microsoft isn't getting desperate. No one there is thinking "Fuck we're losing sales QUICK MAKE FUN OF GOOGLE" they're just having fun with their competitors, after all they are humans. Don't you guys remember when the devs of bulletstorm made that parody of the COD series, that was hilarious and in no way a desperate attempt made by the company to boost declining sales

Changing software while people are using it isn't a real problem, it's never caused any problems since I started using it when it came out .
Seriously, you're being massive idiots here Microsoft.
And they also bash Gears and Drive.
1) Gears was merged into chromiums base, it was always a test extension.
2) Drive is a WIP.
Bravo MS, you just bashed two in development projects.
How about we let Google bash W8, Bing, IE10 and the new Windows Phone, because there is shit in there that they can.
This is just silly.
That video was kind of sad but it did make one good point: A cloud-based suite cannot stand up on its own until we reach the point where we have ubiquitous Internet access. Yes Google Docs has offline mode, but it's extremely limited:
Here are some important notes about using Google Docs when you're offline:
You'll need to Set up Docs offline from your Documents List to start accessing your documents and spreadsheets without an Internet connection.
Offline access is available in Chrome only.
Offline access is available only for documents and spreadsheets. Presentations, drawings and other items from your Documents List are not available offline at this time.
Documents and spreadsheets are only available in view-only mode. You must restore your Internet connection to make any edits.
You can't create new documents and spreadsheets while you're offline.
You'll need to allow offline access separately on each computer where you want to view your Google Docs offline..
Haha nope: LaTeX and a Git repository. Do it right!
Seriously though, distributed version control software should be the way forward for editing and sharing documents. Git makes collaboration so much easier.
this was awful how could anyone find this funny
like yeah its probably a bad idea to run your company on Google docs but for the most part Google's cloud services are crazy helpful for the average person so what are they trying to accomplish, is microsoft afraid of losing market share to google docs or something

MS makes so much money from office I'd say this is exactly what they are worried about. They have lost their competitive edge generally - their core markets are Windows and Office, and with Apple slowly devouring their share of the former I'd say they'd be sensible to be paranoid about their only other real stranglehold.
IMO they should be innovating WAY more with office and creating a killer online and offline office suite, rather than waste money on products like Bing.
that song was pretty swell though
Whenever I go to Hotmail I get spammed by "Windows Cloud" or some shit, whitch is Google Cloud tech, but more annoying and tedious.
Personally, I'd rather have something constantly change and listen to my needs than be permanently out there and unchangeable for two years.
It's funny because Google owns Youtube, which microsoft used to upload this video.
Thing is that I've tried on multiple occasions to abandon Microsoft Office for Google Docs and Libre Office but I simply can't do it. I just have a much better time working with Office. Especially when I'm doing my statistics work in Excel.
The proper way to do things. Using one of my documents, "Proposal.doc".
- Proposal.doc is edited on a workplace or home computer (with either MS Office or LibreOffice) and saved to Dropbox.
- Proposal.doc is then copied to two or three other drive-based locations (such as the workplace network storage, your phone if it supports USB storage, your flash drive)
- Proposal.doc is then uploaded to Google Docs. I prefer not having the document converted in case of certain formatting not being saved properly but either way is acceptable.
Benefits:
- At home/work/school, thanks to Dropbox, I will have the latest version of Proposal.doc available to me assuming normal circumstances.
- But say I'm on the bus and realize I need to correct a fatal error in Proposal.doc. It's on my phone, which has an office suite installed on it (thank you modern technology), so I can make the edit there, then upload to Dropbox.
- In another situation, I'm not at my usual computer (eliminating Dropbox) and I don't have access to my physical backups (forgot flash drive, phone battery's dead, etc). Google Docs saves the day - I can download the file onto the computer I'm on and use that office suite, or in the rare case where said computer doesn't HAVE an office suite installed, I can edit right there on Google Docs (but it might not be pretty).
