One small step for ...... One giant leap for .............
PC goes crazy sometimes
How are y'all gonna complain about political correctness and then get super easily manipulated?
If you read the PDF you'd see the context is "When Asian Americans, Latino Americans and others who look different or are named differently from the dominant culture are assumed to be foreign - born". The implication is that if you don't look familiar (i.e. like the majority) then you HAVE to be from outside the US. It's inherently racist/exclusionary.
I didnt read the PDF or imagine such a context. I was thinking of just a benign personal inquiry, but I see the point. Without context the article was very misleading.

The concept of PC is ridiculous to begin with.
If a rational and possible interpretation is available, then there's no reason to assume a false interpretation. That goes for any textual criticism.
But it wasn't rational, it was extremely reactionary.
FP has become so amazingly reactionary in the past few years. I just don't get it.
The forum seems to hate SJWs more than it does racists. Xenophobic, bigoted and misogynistic posts regularly fill pages and gather tons of positive ratings. People saying things vaguely progressive are regularly called SJWs. Gun rights is seen as the most important thing in America, as is the elimination of anything deemed PC, while at the same time, posters also list legalizing pot and gay marriage at the top of what they demand from their governments.
It's an amazingly odd mishmash of the most terrible parts of conservatism (sans guns rights, neutral on that one) and mainstream liberalism.
It's brogressive but even more hypocritical.
I think this particular issue is laughably stupid and is actually an example of unnecessary and aggressive over-sensitivty and missing the mark social engineering, but I agree 100% with the statement that FP is seemingly far more reactionary than I remember it being before.
It's not just the anti-progressive/leftist perspectives, but also the jingoism and nationalism in the ISIS and Russia threads.
I'm sorry, but what is PC?
Politically correct. You've never heard that before?
Strange, I know what politically correct is, but I've never heard it shortened to that before
It's 'politically correct' or 'political correctness' depending on which part of speech is being used
Accepting these microaggressions felt like mental gymnastics until I finally understood that these guidelines were only meant to be used in certain situations.
Learning about progressive views is really exhausting at times.
