I can't wait for when I get into politics and somebody digs up all my "Hitler did nothing wrong" grade posts here and elsewhere
We're fast approaching a world where the ideal politician is one with no past. Imagine in the future parents raising their kids to never publish anything with an opinion anywhere and never making a social media account to groom them for politics.
I think eventually nobody's going to care "X politician watched Zone Sama back in 2015-" "I don't give a fuck, the other guy watched MLP and the other guy was in to ballbusting it doesn't even matter" You can only have so much scandal before inflation hits and nobody cares anymore [editline]2nd June 2015[/editline] I look forward to Ballbust v. Sparkle
Bernie Sanders is pretty cool. I like how he dealt with Rand Paul in a healthcare debate.
The look on the face of the woman behind Paul cracks me the fuck up. Just complete "wtf".
It's like you go out of your way to be obnoxious; they didn't dig it up to discredit him, it's actually the exact opposite. The name of the article is: "How Bernie Sanders Learned to Be a Real Politician," and the publication has been mostly supportive of him as a no-nonsense democratic socialist.
ranger will literally find the smallest gap to worm some anti feminism through - even if it's not applicable lmao
Ha this is the only shit they could dig up? Lets look at the competition: These people need to get their priorities straight.
Woooooooow, this is so gross. Anyone taking that much money from the banks can go pound sand.
Woooooooow, this is so gross. Anyone taking that much money from the banks can go pound sand.
He's probably one the few politicians that see's this as a problem.
Ah, yes, a 43 year old essay for an alternative newspaper. How relevant! I bet you in 40 years we're going to be going back and looking at what x presidential candidate said on twitter or what porn they looked at
Already are, that 20 year old SNP MP that got elected in Scotland ended up having stories printed about her tweeting "maths is shite" when she was 15 :v:
Bernie Sanders is pretty cool. I like how he dealt with Rand Paul in a healthcare debate.
Holy shit! did Rand Paul really compare Universal Healthcare to slavery? What a retard.
Already are, that 20 year old SNP MP that got elected in Scotland ended up having stories printed about her tweeting "maths is shite" when she was 15 :v:
Yeah but I mean presidential candidates, and literally all of them have this kind of history, to the point where it gets tame here is the future as Mister Sandman sees it
OK, so let's see what kind of stuff our dear candidate used to do on the internet in 2015 xhamster account? Mneh. Hentai Foundry account? Nyeh. E621 account? Boring. Stor- wait a minute A Stormfront account?
Welp, he's finished.
Yeah but I mean presidential candidates, and literally all of them have this kind of history, to the point where it gets tame here is the future as Mister Sandman sees it
Yeah, the ubiquity of social media is changing how we think of privacy and social connections, but older generations and the media haven't quite caught up with the idea that everyone does objectionable or taboo things, so gossip magazines and such aren't going away yet.
Ah, yes, a 43 year old essay for an alternative newspaper. How relevant!
Bernie Sanders is pretty cool. I like how he dealt with Rand Paul in a healthcare debate.
Dear lord, Rand Paul is a next level moron. Equating all rights to slavery? THat's almost impressive idiocy.
If this was someone other than Sanders talking about feminism/gender roles I have little doubt that this thread would be worked up about "OMG SJW politics" I can only hope that people apply their standards for Sanders to the other parts of their lives
So what, people shouldn't be allowed to report facts if they want to discredit somebody? Every whistleblower is sent to prison. The media has to spin every story about a politician in the most positive light to avoid smearing a politician's reputation. Also, a lot of radfems like Sanders over Hillary so I don't know what you're on about, Ranger. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] The Mother Jones article is pro-Sanders. There's no pro-Hillary conspiracy going on here.
What I meant was the kind of smear campaigns that are dishonest and/or petty, picking on things utterly irrelevant to governing a country or just flat-out lying about the candidate. That kinda shit drags our entire species down. So what if Obama smoked pot in college? If anything that's a plus that sets him apart from the Old World. And so what if Sanders wrote a dodgy treatise in the 70's? That was in the 70's, over 40 damn years ago, and people actually change throughout their lives. That's the kind of smear attempt that should be stomped out, not warning people that many Republican senators are likely bought and paid for by Big Oil and the military-industrial complex.
Bernie Sanders is pretty cool. I like how he dealt with Rand Paul in a healthcare debate.
It's insane how privileged you have to be to frame being able to go to the doctor as an issue of "physical comfort". It's especially funny how he justifies not having universal healthcare based on the Declaration of Independence's statement about a citizen's right to "the pursuit of happiness". Did he forget the declaration about the right to life that came before it?
It's funny that Rand Paul tried to make his claims more reputable by claiming he's a doctor, when the only organization that certified him is one that he runs himself.
But how do you regulate something like that? "You can only report on facts if they're relevant?"
It'd probably involve encouraging candidates to respond to petty smears like "durr you wrote erotic fan-fiction in college why should I vote for a freak like you" with something along the lines of "explain to me how that has anything to do with running a country?" to denounce the petty accusation as irrelevant, or even go as far as to explain WHY writing erotic fan-fiction has no relation to political operations. If there's an opportunity for meaningful discourse or at least dishing out a sick burn against uninformed dullards, it should be encouraged, since if you're gonna be voting you should at least have SOME common sense. It's not that hard, surely.
If anything, smear campaigns and attempted character assassinations should be illegal, or at least heavily regulated, in politics. As in, the people responsible for starting the smear campaign end up chained above the abyss.
no they shouldn't. as much as you don't like what they're saying, it's covered under free speech in the USA. you can't ban someone from digging up something from someone's past to make them look bad when they're running for president, no matter how pathetic it is. free speech is free speech.
Someday we'll have a candidate trying to explain the NSFW MLP fanfics on his old DeviantArt page.
I'm not certain a candidate like that would have the charisma to get that far in politics anyway
Well I guess I can never join politics, since I made a video making fun of Secrios, everyone will think I'm an asshole.
I really want him to win, but I know the media will push Hillary.
Sanders doesn't have a chance even if the media did push him. He's too left.
If you poll Americans on specific issues they generally do lean quite left.
I like Sanders, but he's (a) not as well known as Clinton and (b) probably too left for the US' current political climate, so it's basically no contest who the Democrats will pick. The republicans are busy making 2016 a repeat of 2012 so I' reasonably confident that they won't land the presidency. The safe money is on Hillary Clinton for 2016.

If we go about this with the attitude that he has no chance, then he will have no chance. A vote for Bernie shouldn't be treated as throwing away your vote, but rather contributing to the message that Americans are starting to pay attention to income inequality. He's already surprising people with how many funds he's raised for his grassroots campaign. While it isn't nearly as much as a billionaire-backed candidate such as Clinton, it still gives people hope that a focused, honest politician may have a chance in the future.
