Female game developer's $40,892 Kickstarter project goes unfinished, donates remaining funding to Fe
There is no obligation to spend all (or even any) Kickstarter funds on the respective project so long as you successfully complete the project and all rewards offered.

Show me where it says that in writing, because that sounds made up as fuck
to me, that sounds like you're saying "Yeah sure you can spend all this money on hookers and blow, just release the project."
She doesn't deserve the harassment she's been getting at all, but looking at tweets like this takes away some empathy someone could have to her, Harassing isn't OK but neither is scamming people

I wonder if she'll be saying the same thing after being arrested for tax problems and a person from the IRS tells her about the serious shit she's in.
And who are you? Who designated you as the president of the GG thread?
Sorry for trying to keep the discussion relevant to the thread topic.
Look my problem with that thread is that they claim they don't care about Anita or Zoe Quinn, that they only care about ethics in gaming journalism, yet they are constantly talking about them or other feminist game devs in that thread.
And here's where the problem lies, we don't or we try to not mention them, hell we(not us in FP specifically) even gave them them name Literally who, so they would stop being talked about but they don't want to fall into obscurity, they don't want to not be talked about, so they constantly try to make themselves the focus of #gg, they thrive of the attention they're given.
Here let me give you an example, brianna wu, had to leave her house because of death threats, after she had to leave her house, she changed her twitter name to Brianna wu aka Lw3, here.
Now let me ask you this, do these seem like the actions of someone who, had their life seriously threatened, to paint yourself as an even bigger target for you "harassers", by, adopting the nickname they gave you on a public forum, by putting yourself further into the spotlight, instead of letting things cool off for a bit?
And when you point it out they either ignore you, deny it or you get the lovely "It's closely tied to ethics in gaming journalismâ„¢".
Read above, we try not to talk about it, we have tried not talking about it in the past, but they just keep comming up, so it's next to impossible not to talk about because in one way or another they're tied to the movements history.
I suggest you look up Confirmation Bias.
Anyway enough derrailing this isn't about gg you know what to do.
Late edit, for some reason trying to edit my post resulted in a blank text box.
If anyone is unconvinced that the donors should have been refunded, this is taken straight out of Kickstater's FAQ section:

Section 4 TOS:

Grace Lynn is an irresponsible content creator. Her lack of interest in remedying her mistakes is also a testament to her resolve. I'm sure she will be dealt with accordingly, by the law, and possibly by Kickstater.
Is she seriously complaining that people are harassing her about her essentially stealing their money? She says she owes the IRS and cannot afford health issuance. Ok, so her priorities should be:
1) get (at least) a minimum wage job
2) start paying off your IRS debts
3) get some health insurance
4) pay back your Kickstarter donors
And explain that situation in a responsible manner to your donors while you do all of this.
Instead she just throws all the money away. This is just a person who creates problems for themselves and blames the world for it.

"we don't or we try to not mention them"
There's the denial I mentioned. Look at the current last page of that thread. There's at least 6 posts mentioning Anita and Zoe, one of which is about Anita's latest video. Also, the LW thing was dropped a while ago, and even if it wasn't, calling them LW is still talking about them no matter how you try to slice it.
It's sad how hard you're trying to defend your cause with such a bad approach.
Stick to preaching that "it's about ethics in journalism" thing instead of denying the existence of those who don't.
"Don't talk about racism" is a very easy view to take when you don't face the impacts of it on a daily, hourly basis. Morgan Freeman is a great actor and seems like a good person but I totally disagree with that statement.
He also disagrees with it
But who gives a fuck what Morgan Freeman's political views are? He's an actor, not an actual politician.
And that "Any Opposition to Obama is Racist" shit? Since when is it inherently racist to call people out on stupid shit they do, or just not liking someone?
I don't care if she was a man, straight, trans, aquatic, mayonnaise, black, asian, Russian, South African, etc, I wanna push her off a cliff.

Actors are people too. They're allowed to have opinions.
I used to know devi ever on twitter (Met her through Allosaurus Rex). Until gamergate Devi used to fuckin HATE being called trans, but ever since she can't go 5 minutes without pointing out the fact she's trans. She's also been indecisive as fuck and has been on both sides twice seemingly for attention (constantly made #notyourshield tweets about the above and advertising her games in said tweets)
The moment this stunt falls flat on it's face and she gets to face the consequences for it, she'll be quick to commit damage control. You'll either see a pitiful "apology" or she'll go pro GG again. But it's devi, who the fuck knows at this point.

See, this is a good post. It's entirely possible to bring this kind of post into the actual GG thread and expect people to change.
I like GG and I don't like how easily we're derailed.
I'm surprised some people are advocating or supporting her decision.
She literally took money from people under a false premise (a lie) and spent it on her own endeavors.
Her excuses do not line up and the fact that she's boasting about it on Twitter (from the images I've seen in this thread), shows me she has no remorse for her actions.
Imagine supporting a person like that without looking like an humongous idiot.
So, when is she getting sued
So, when is she getting sued
After the IRS is done with her, if there's anything left that is, probably.
Wait. That was $750. What about the rest of the 40 thousand?

if it's the guitar tuner, fucked if I know. She must have burned it because shortly afterwards she had a kickstarter to finish her SRS

Nothing to worry for you
I want to be a game developer but Im afraid Ill end up turning into assholes like these guys
This advice might be unwarranted and it's tangential at best to the actual topic (Which from the brief liner notes is a sad show of irresponsibility and terrible PR that only further damages legitimate uses of Kickstarter.) but it's been on my mind and I want to share it as I've shared similar fears and still often do:
As long as you keep worrying about if you're an asshole or not I doubt you'll ever be an asshole. Self reflection is key to maintaining a worldview of empathy and consideration. If you're not looking at yourself and your actions, it makes it hard to see what you're doing and how that effects others.
Don't let things like GamerGate scare you. They are incredibly important movements that you should be aware of, but ultimately there still thousands, if not millions of people who don't follow the games industry and are happy enough to just buy a game and play it and be engaged by it.
Hell, going to a college program about game design, I've only known two or three people that actually discussed Gamergate out of the roughly 100 or 200 people I assume are going, and that was through social media first, not actual in person discussion.
TLDR: Follow your passion (even if it doesn't end up going how you expect), be self-reflective to avoid being "an asshole" and realize game development/gamers don't always follow things as closely as you/we ourselves do.
its a joke
Yeah my bad dude didn't have my morning coffee
i could kind of understand if she used that money to pay off her debt because she's desperate but why the FUCK is she just donating it to some random organization and bragging about it
I guess fraud is ok if you're trans?

as someone also going into the games industry I have an action plan formed to make sure I never end up in controversy like this
step 1: don't be a cunt
I'm hoping it will serve me well
"FEEL SORRY FOR ME, AND PLEASE SUE ME".
Haha, way to dig yourself into even a bigger hole. Now wait for the sue, and let the dirt fall into the hole baby!

This is all blatant reflecting. The reason people keep bringing up Wu, Quinn and Sarkesian is that they and the anti-gg people keep bringing up their victim status as a reflection for talking about ethics in journalism. That's why we're forced to disagree with them publicly. They bring it up.
What you're doing right now is saying that the ethical side of the issue is totally irrelevant because someone was harassed. That the facts and evidence we brought up are irelevant because someone was harassed.
They are two completely separate issues, the vast majority of people in gamergate are not responsible for the harrasement. We talk about those people because they are constantly belittling gamergate and we have to defend ourselves.
Zoe Quinn just posted an article about gaming journalism which she uses to bash gamergate:
https://medium.com/@zoequinnzel/lets-talk-about-ethics-in-games-journalism-6a2fd89069ae
Anita Sarkeesian created a series of videos where she accuses gamers and gaming culture of being mysongynistic.
Both Anita and Wu constantly post anti-gg tweets on twitter.
They are constantly talking about GamerGate and gaming journalism otherwise we wouldn't be bringing them up. Why else would we?
We are not criticising them for no reason, we are not misogynists. We are literally just responding to what they post. Same thing we do with GamerGhazi, notorious twitter posters like Man-In-Black and other anti-GG people.
They attacked us. They brought themselves into this argument and now they are using harrasment as a shield to harass and bully other people. Do you see absolutely nothing wrong with that?
I wanna know one thing
If she's so in need of money, why is she still paying for internet?
She should be saving up every fucking bit she could
I don't see how anyone could possibly be ok with this.
When will it be allowed again to hold people accountable for their actions? It's getting pretty tiring when people make mistakes and instead of responding as responsibly and respectfully as possible, they lash out (hilariously enough) on the victims. Because there are technically "victims" in this scenario - people donated towards a cause and the money went everywhere but the intended purpose.
I want to be a game developer but Im afraid Ill end up turning into assholes like these guys
really is no issue, theres nothing specially corrosive to your mind about being a developer. As long as your willing to listen to differing opinions and ideas without having a meltdown and demanding a campaign against a large amorphus group you label as whatever negative thing youll be fine. It's all about that foundation of basic reasoning.
Stupid bitch.
If your way of life depends on the freedom to have big naked breasts swaying around in all of the video games you play you should maybe reconsider your prerogatives. That freedom isn't even being taken away, that shit's just being called awful.
