People used the ties between 'female game developer' and 'foolishly donated to a feminist group under bad circumstances' to rant back and forth between GamerGate and feminism. Yet a-fucking-gain.
more the fact that there's nothing to talk about past "wow she's a shitty person"
I simply can't edit my post anymore so there's some problems with it. The textbox just goes blank when I try to edit it. I felt I had to do a text dump because people keep pushing those same points over and over again.

It isn't a large concentrated movement, it is an agenda pushed by a very small and dedicated group of people trying to push game developers to make what they want made in the style of culture jamming and intellectual bullying.
I'm genuinely surprised this thread hasn't had a single person attack her gender identity or misgender her. I applaud you guys. Also this bitch a fucking cunt.
I think a lot of us on here truly want to see a female indie developer succeed (or could care less whether a game was made by men or women). I guess it's just frustrating when one fails, and then uses that failure to fan the flames of the debate
Burn her
I looked up that feminism frequency website and read an article.. It's just the stereotypical feminism shit which goes all "women should have same rights as men but should keep the privilegs men don't have" which actually isn't equal rights but more like "more rights". So yea, that money she donated is wasted, she could also just have burned it or something.
I though gamergate was about "ethics in games journalism" and not "things women have done"?
It closely tied to ethics in games industry in general

I will pray that this harassment won't stop. That kind of shit is unforgivable and this needs to be made an example for any other potential idiot who basically steals money.
So... When is she getting sued?
If it's true about the IRS, and her giving away money before paying off the IRS, being sued is the least of her problems.
Just another person taking the piss out of a decent enough idea. I mean, Kickstarter is far from perfect but it can and has been used for good but there are a lot of people exploiting it, such as this.
Clearly she has some money
So, how long until the class action suit against her for not providing the expected product?
gamergate is one of the cringiest phrases i've ever heard anita sarkeesian on colbert lmao everything is a joke and first off stop harassing pixelgoth if you guys would just stfu and pay for her album she could sort all of this out please support
I'm honestly surprised that Kickstarter allows this shit to happen. You'd think there would be some kind of system in place to keep the donations from being used on extraneous things. It's one thing to donate to a project, have the developer spend your money trying to develop, and then have the project fail, BUT it's completely different if the project fails and there is donation money left over and you don't refund it back to the donors.
What I'd really love to see is a female game dev succeed, and then denounce FemFreq for being terrible.
femfreq would probably desperately try and brush it off as internalized misogyny
So, how long until the class action suit against her for not providing the expected product?
Well, since it's a crowd funded project, it's ok for people to donate to it and know that the project could fail. So i don't think she can be sued for that. It's not like buying something online, it's people choosing to contribute to someone else's unfinished idea. What's fucked is that she called off the project and donated the left over money.
bring up strong points and you generally don't get dumbed.
The problem is that a "strong point" is a very vague concept. Even if you bring a strong point to that thread they won't admit it and ignore you.
I don't care that the money went to a feminist organization What i care for is that you don't use kickstarter money for a different purpose than that you gotten it for If she couldn't refund it at least she could explain and try to find a good purpose for it WITH the backers She could've seen this coming and she deserves all this bullshit, she should've been smarter with it
You know, this has happened on Kickstarter before, for example the guys who made the Planetary Annihilation spent their Kickstarter money on expensive cars instead of, you know, the game.
What I'd really love to see is a female game dev succeed, and then denounce FemFreq for being terrible.
What if she succeeds and then goes on to promote FemFreq?
What if she succeeds and then goes on to promote FemFreq?
Then she must be a feminist SJW who deserves whatever harassment she gets.
The problem is that a "strong point" is a very vague concept. Even if you bring a strong point to that thread they won't admit it and ignore you.
The problem is people like to bring the "harassment of women movement" argument, and the "ethics" joke, and those points have been debated to hell and back, it isn't about harassment of women, this has been disproven before here's a study someone did about tweets relating to #gg and it's prominent figures, and the ethics thing has been explained in this thread earlier. Anyway if you wan't to continue this discussion pm me or leave a message in the right thread.
And before anyone says anything, I'm not saying this person doesn't desrve to get any flak for what she's done, obviously she does. The thing is, the law is gonna be the one to give her a headache. Harassing her on top of that is not the right thing to do.
that thread is not good for constructive talks since you'd just get mobbed for saying anything remotely negative about GG the discussion has all but died here though so it's a moot point
I haven't seen anybody even attempt to have constructive talk who was negative about GG, they almost always do it in shitposting form. If you have constructive arguments that aren't "it's all harassment you don't get it" then I am sure people there would be willing to have a constructive argument with you. P.S, multiple people disagreeing with you is not getting "mobbed."
And who are you? Who designated you as the president of the GG thread? Look my problem with that thread is that they claim they don't care about Anita or Zoe Quinn, that they only care about ethics in gaming journalism, yet they are constantly talking about them or other feminist game devs in that thread. And when you point it out they either ignore you, deny it or you get the lovely "It's closely tied to ethics in gaming journalism™".
She doesn't deserve the harassment she's been getting at all, but looking at tweets like this takes away some empathy someone could have to her, Harassing isn't OK but neither is scamming people
It's not harassment if people tell her she's an asshole for misusing the money, which is probably what 99% of the hate mail consists of.
There is no obligation to spend all (or even any) Kickstarter funds on the respective project so long as you successfully complete the project and all rewards offered. So the Planetary Annihilation guys should be fine. However if the project fails you are under a legal contract to account for money spent, showing that it was used on in good faith on the project, and refund any left over amount. Failing to do so opens you up to be sued over breach of contract. Then again, that's probably the least of her worries if the IRS is after her...
How, theoretically speaking, would more "ethics" in games journalism have prevented a woman from reneging on her non-binding agreement to deliver a return to her kickstarter backers? Pls don't get angry this is an honest question.
Because these so called feminists ask for extensive monetary help to develop less than subpar "games" or other projects(when they DO develop them and don't just run off with it), then bribe people who work in gaming journalism to give them high scores or advertising, and when called out by someone over their corruption and lack of integrity, all they do is shout "you're a mysoginist" and make it sound like its all about putting women down and harassing them, so nobody pays attention to the devious shit going on behind. [editline]3rd December 2014[/editline]
Lets pretend that, magically, we injected 500cc's of "ethics" into "games journalism." How would that have prevented or impeded this lone individual from abandoning her kickstarter project?
In a perfect world, they would raise awareness to things like this, and not call it an act of charity because it was made for a "good" cause.
