Florida Drivers Shelling Out Nearly $6 A Gallon At Some Gas Stations
The place I buy at is $3.95. These prices suck but don't europeans have it worse?
Yes, but as I've always said it is relative to where you live. We pay a lot, but when you compare things they get hit harder. They pay upwards to 7-10 dollars a gallon after all the conversions.
The only thing that really matters is that we're all hurting just as much as the next guy and the oil companies are laughing it up.
I just can't believe how expensive is gas in the rest of the world, In here Venezuela we pay per liter around 0.0004427 USD. A Coke liter is more expensive than a gas liter.
Are you sure those numbers are correct? that'd be 565 gallons a dollar?
Why do Americans use a overly complicated imperial system, make the switch you uneducated fucks. I'm tired of hearing "US GALLON, US OUNCE."
3.25 bitches, Tucson's got a pipeline.
That's bullshit, how are yours lower than Houston's? We have the HQ of all the oil Companies and a quarter of all the refineries in the US within a 50 mile circle
Are you sure those numbers are correct? that'd be 565 gallons a dollar?
correct. It's even cheaper as Bolivar currency is nothing against dollars.
I'm not kidding, its so much easier though.
Everything is in tens.
Norcal here, bay area. prices are 3.95 all the way up to ~4.50. More common to find 4.0+ prices in my area.
I have 4.50 for premium gas and I dread having to fill up

Hope you're joking, everyone learns metric in schools. It's not as if we don't understand the system, we just don't feel any need to change it since it's been around for so long. I will admit though, being an engineer in training and needing to know every goddamn measurement in both systems as well as the hybrid engineering-imperial and engineering-metric is fucking annoying.

While everyone does learn metric in schools, not many people retain that knowledge unless they're going into a career that uses metric.
Planes have crashed because of imperial system in use in America in this day and age.

Basically any technical career involves metric at some point. But you're right, and that's one of the main reasons we don't want to switch over. I was just pointing out it's not like we're completely ignorant of the system.
And I've heard the U.K. has the same problem, a lot of imperial measurements still float around over there with various things.
Also what planes have crashed?
Air Canada flight 143
honestly metric is nice and all, but day to day use US customary is far more useful since the metric system is arbitrary as hell, like what the fuck is a meter supposed to represent?

1000mm, 100cm, 10dm, 1m
Its represents a meter stick. What is a yard supposed to represent?
Imperial is arbitrary as hell, what the hell is a inch and why does 12 inches make a foot. Why not 10 inches make a foot. Confusing as hell and mathematically retarded.

uh
metric actually makes complete sense when you look at it scientifically.
one cubic meter of water weighs 1000 kilograms and equals 1000 liters

Base 12 is actually pretty rad for basic stuff because it divides neatly by 2 and 3, whereas if I ask you what a third of a meter is you've already got a precision issue.
[editline]23rd February 2012[/editline]
Also imperial is obviously superior for large people because one foot represents the size of...your foot. Metric, the only body part reference I got is two meters as being my height on the level with me boots on, which is a bitch to try measuring anything with.
the most touristy areas in florida have the highest gas prices. what a surprise
why can't every country use the same system jesus christ.

No precision error, 1/3 of a metre is a perfectly valid measurement, and that works both ways - what's 1/7m in inches? It's a recurring decimal, too, that's what it is. (5.624...) Precision errors are inherent to the decimal system, not the measurement system, which is why you leave things in fractions in maths until you need them in a usable number.
As for the second point, being "roughly as large as x" is totally arbitrary, and either way, if we're going to roll like that, I can just as easily say that I'm roughly 175cm, a kilogram is as big as a standard bag of sugar, a glass of water is 1/3 of a litre, and so on, it's perfectly easy to imagine and remember. It's all down to how much you use the system. If we're going for dedicated bodypart references, my fingerspan is 20cm.
Holy shit that's cheap, here in Sweden it's about 15sek for 1 liter, which is about $8.3 per gallon.

Also more syllables than "a foot", haww haww haww.
(FYI: you should not take posts from anyone talking about measuring things with their feet seriously)
It's 1.4€/liter here! (that's 7$/gallon for you Americans)
Ireland
1.59 Euros per Litre = 7.99 US Dollars per US gallon
You guys still got it pretty good.

Ahaha, I saw on Wikipedia, a gallon is 9 cents there.
Petrol is literally more than a thousand times more expensive here in Norway.

Those prices are pretty chill in comparison though.
Turkey has almost 11 dollars per gallon, Here it's a bit more then 10. 8 isn't terrible.
Prices in Denmark: 9,5 dollars per gallon.
oh poor you.
try £1.459 a litre.
uhmm its like 10$ a gallon in norway
In my area in the UK for a gallon, it's around $13 (Converted from £/litre to $/litre and then just multiplied it by 4.5 since that's how many litres are in a gallon)
[editline]23rd February 2012[/editline]
So, what i'm saying is, stop moaning, you got it cheap.
$1.48 aus
