I like a good minimum wage, and I'm all for it. But I also realise that raising the minimum wage is like treating the symptom rather than the cause.
Do you think things will change in Ontario? I'm from Hamilton with an NDP riding, but politics seem way crazier in Ontario now that I live in the US.
Politics east of Manitoba completely eludes me
That's a given. That's why I always get a bit worried when I hear 'raise minimum wage' because this means less jobs.
Yeah less hours at my job is what worries me too. But this is just another reason why I like having two jobs because between the two I get 50 hours so I always have enough money for bills.
I like a good minimum wage, and I'm all for it. But I also realise that raising the minimum wage is like treating the symptom rather than the cause.
What cause? Cost of living is ever increasing because of inflation, but we need inflation because it's a good thing. Increasing the minimum wage is simply keeping real wages constant with inflation.
Still kind of blows my mind that the NDP came into power in alberta of all places.
With the amount of weird shit going on in the world these days nothing surprises me anymore. [editline]1st July 2015[/editline]
I wish that'd happen. If my job as a butcher had its wage properly adjusted for the increase of inflation I should be making twice what I do now. And increasing the minimum wage isn't going to stop the rich from getting richer, its just going to make them cut costs elsewhere. Mainly in labor because it's the easiest thing to control with the most immediate results in numbers.
It would be great for people with learning disabilities too since they usually have minimum wage jobs like myself.
