Sadly this news would be right up Lankist's alley. :(
121,199 cartel members detained.
Not entirely.
and double that number joins.
seriously most of the 'cartel members' are nothing more then footsoldiers that shoot eachother because they're told to.
and also, how many are sentenced?
that's more than twice of the iraq war
Duh Duh duh, Another one Sniffs the dust
Obviously the war on drugs is working.
Well yes it is.
Becuase after awhile there will be nobody left in the country to DO drugs.
No obviously the war on drugs is NOT working. This is practicaly the same as when we outlawed alcohal. When you make something in such high demand illegal it creates a huge black market and a surge of criminal activity. We should just legalize drugs and let people do what they want to their bodies as long as they don't hurt anyone. I mean realy who are we to tell someone what they can and can't do considering that this country was founded on the basis of personal rights.
wow
thats twice as many people in my town
As anti-drug as I am, I must say this is ridiculous. If they handled it more competently and used more brute military force to stop the drug cartels rather than just ho-hum efforts, deaths of this rate wouldn't have happened.
I hope my family is okay :ohdear:
The war on drugs is working. Slowly, it's killing everyone that can use drugs. Namely, everyone.

And yet drug use would still be prevalent because you can't dictate or legislate morality. People will do drugs even if they aren't supposed to. You can't stop it. Prohibition and a "war on drugs" has never, ever, ever fucking worked.

Uh, for every drug-lord and lackey they need to find evidence to convict them, which is kind of hard considering gangs are infamous for being able to bribe officials and hide evidence efficiently.
And even if they did disregard that and initiate some type of martial law then they'd have to send foot soldiers who are prone to bribery and defection.
Even if they did handle this war better it still would've took a lot of lives and years to even get close to stopping the drug-trade.
