• Israel passes law aimed at deterring African migrants

Jeez. You'd expect a nation like Israel to be more open-minded and friendly, given that the Jews had a terrible beating 70 years back. Still, that doesn't justify what they're doing.
For cultural references, I should add there's a surprising amount of prejudice in a few areas of Israel against illegal African migrants. Somewhat similar to some areas of the US, they're unfairly seen as far more likely to commit crime and to evade legal work, which while statistically true, (much like the US) doesn't warrant racism. Don't illegally immigrate to a country that considers itself already overpopulated if you're not willing to accept the consequences for doing so. It's a rather simple concept to grasp.
Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany is pretty disgusting. They are hardly comparable.
A country that punishes those who willingly commit crime is FAR worse than torture and genocide of over twelve million people due to their culture or religion.
Your problem is that you have this deluded and warped belief that illegal immigrants deserve no rights.
If they wanted rights, they'd legally gain citizenship. These people came to the country with clear knowledge that they had no rights and no citizenship, they accepted this when they illegally moved to Israel. Perhaps people should **not illegally immigrate to overpopulated countries** if they wish to retain said rights.
Isn't it a sensible thing to detain people coming illegally into the country? How are you going to hold track of them otherwise? Assumptions?
Does not matter if you're "illegal" or not, you have basic human rights. If they really wanted to counter the problem let them migrate officially and assist them. They're not just holding them for deportation they're holding them in a "holding" facility designed for prolonged imprisonment. Also here is another thing to think about, how does one prove their illegal without proper trial? Just because someone does not have a proof at that moment or has paper work does not automatically mean they're "illegal". The fact they're targeting and specific group of people based on ethnicity and nationality pretty much proves their motives. People take a lot of shit for granted, did you earn citizenship or where you born with it?
The new "open" facility will hold about 3,000 detainees and provide services to discourage them from working. Technically, they will be free to come and go during daytime but must return to the remotely located center by night.
Now compare this to the Australian and American counterparts for illegal immigrants detention centers. Or how about the UK version of things, where many inmates are regularly detained indefinitely. Greece and Italy have the same detention camps for african migrants, yet no shitstorm on FP. But hey, "Israel" is in the title, so lets shut our collective brains off. It's more expensive to detain an illegal immigrant than expel them. The reasons countries do it are: (1) Your legal system has due process, and they have a right to argue for residency based reasons ranging from they have a valid claim to asylum to there was an error in their being designated illegal. (2) Your legal system has due process, and they are suspected of a crime, so the allegations need to resolved in court. You can dislike Israel for other stuff, but if you want to pick this as your issue, you can go down a long list of other countries first, including probably your own. Is there any first world country accepting unrestricted immigration from anyone from a poor third world nation? If there's one you know of, tell the third world, they've got 3 billion people willing to move there. So what is this about? Israel is acting better than most countries that round up illegals and send them back in a truck with the most cursory of legal protection. That's pretty much the norm for the whole world. The USA sends back Mexicans, the Thai send back the Burmese, the Costa Ricans send back the Nicaraguans etc. The title here should be: unlike most of the world, Israel eventually gives its suspected illegals due process. Also, "Remotely located center"? There isn't a single point in Israel that is "remote" from another point. The country is fucking tiny.
