I know from personal experience that you can get overworked doing just about anything.
I was a cashier at Sears who had just turned 18 when four people quit/got fired at roughly the same time. Since one of those people was the cashier manager, they were literally unable to hire any more people until they got a new manager. It would have meant more hours anyway, but I was gunning for the position so I took a bunch of extra shifts and ended up working about 20-30 overtime hours a week (sometimes more, since my co-workers were incompetent fucks who had trouble showing up) for like three months until I came down with a stomach flu so bad it landed me in the hospital. I was out for two days and when I came back they yelled at me for half an hour about how no one would come in to cover my shifts so one of the managers had to.
I quit and now have a much better job.
she shoulda had it her way :smith:
Died from karoshi? That sounds like some kind of honorable death or something.

Your manager was a douche :colbert:
Japan tends to have diligent workers except at 711's there (based off 1st hand experience) but from what I have read is that the hospital system is generally fucked as in, theres no space in hospitals in entire cities for people sometimes.
Hard work claims another victim.
STOP RISKING YOUR LIVES
Not surprised. Japanese people are expected to work their asses off, it's tradition. You're pretty much owned by your workplace.
How can you overwork at McDonalds? Shouldn't she rest if she worked around 80 hours overtime, wait, this is in Japan. Forget it, they work a lot, forget what I said.
McDonalds is disgusting, but he didn't deserve to die for it.
