There is no way you're going to get a user to walk in circles of five feet diameter without realizing it. It can't work for consumer VR.
there is always marching in place
You also have to remember that the Vive maps the room you're in with its depth cameras and creates a virtual wireframe in front of you when you get too close to a real wall.
People currently move around in games by pressing buttons on a keyboard and moving a mouse, and they have no issues getting immersed in games. I just don't think people will have problems with controllers breaking their VR immersion.
Besides, even if you got a perfect 1:1 translation from real movement to VR movement, you would still have to deal with the fact that the virtual grass you're walking on feels just like the floor in your house. You won't have to worry about that if you don't actually walk around.
also, does anyone know how more sensors would effect it? Obviously make it more accurate yeah but how so? Less latency if you're, lets say, sitting?
that's not what latency means

I guess I worded that like shit, will it detect what you're doing with your head better?
I mean 2 lighthouses would be enough right? you wouldn't get much more from more? I heard you can use more than just 2-6.
If this IS cheaper/better than the rift then it'd be good to know at least.
More is just for gaining more area to track. Perhaps more in the same space would be useful for specific oddities where the sensors can't receive either beacon.

You'll be surprised ;)
Why is pointing out a flaw in a publicly visible prototype bad? If you say the point of a prototype is to fix issues with design, why is it bad for someone to point out said issues?

That isn't what he was doing at all. He came into the thread to call the entire idea bad and not argue why.
