Apple has come under blistering criticism after Chinese environmentalists accused Cupertino's Chinese partners of discharging toxic metals when manufacturing iPhones, iPads, and other must-have products.
In a 46-page report issued Wednesday, The Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs in Beijing said it documented illegal pollution coming from dozens of suspected Apple suppliers throughout China, according to news reports. The suppliers frequently fail to properly dispose of hazardous waste, it claimed.
“Apple has made this commitment that it's a green company,” Ma Jun, the director of the Institute of Public and Environmental
Affairs told The New York Times. “So how do you fulfill your commitment if you don't consider you have responsibility in your suppliers' pollution?”
Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told the NYT Apple representatives aggressively monitor factories in its supply chain with regular audits.
“Apple is committed to driving the highest standards of social responsibility throughout our supply chain,” he said.

Brace for impact, Apple
looks like this apple

If you want to be a green company, then you probably shouldn't base your factories in China. A green factory in China is a bit of an oxymoron.

Your point is invalid for reasons I dont feel like typing out.
On The Subject: Apple should now drop all those court cases and focus on all the media smashing that about to happen.
I thought eating an Apple a day keeps the doctor away but this kind of apple is making people sick.

You guys think China is a terrible polluter. That's like calling the kettle black. The US is also one of the top contributor of pollution.

What media smashing? A few national news sources might talk about it briefly in one of their shows and move on. Meanwhile, the American population will either ignore it or post statuses on facebook about how bad it is on their iPad.
This is America, only an attack on religion can generate a large response!

You know that your company is environmentally-incompetent when China is the one blowing the whistle on you.

Well. China has this thing called the Three Gorges Dam. And while its incredible in what it accomplishes. It has flooded the shit out of more areas then you can count and has made like 1.3 million people homeless.
China isn't exactly the best at going green.

Apple getting bashed on by the world now.
Environmental standards were too mainstream?
What's the difference between the heavy metals Apple is discarding and macfags?
Not much; they're both pretty dense.

I think that what he means is that it's chinese environmentalists that are calling apple out on this, not the actual government.
