Fuck F-35's, buy the Russian equal of the F-22 Raptor and get a T-50 for 40mill. If the US can buy helicopters from Russia why can't Canada buy Stealth fighters from Russia.
Ill just stick this and this up here. Australia is in a similar situation to Canada regarding its air force (lots of land, not many planes).
Remind me again why Canada even needs 5th generation fighters?
PS. We bought those Mi-17s because they're for Afghan military pilots, very few of which can fly US-made choppers.
They're still equipped with weaponry such as machine guns, therefor its a arms trade. But thats besides the point. I'm not sure why we need fifth gen fighters, someone pro-f35 deal explain.

Look at my second link in my previous post. I hesitate to call them a fifth generation fighter.
They're a 5th generation fighter, just not a very good 5th generation fighter. Maybe a 5- generation fighter.
Well, having a 2 party system isn't helping us out right now. They can't even agree on anything.
The shit we're in right now can be partially blamed on the 1995 "Republican Revolution," so it's not exactly a fundamental problem in the system but rather a (politically at least) recent development.
Why the fuck are you guys talking about F-35s?
We are in like a huge debt and stuff, and you're talking about jets.

Because it is outrageous spending your government does impacts the rest of the western world.

I doubt barely any money was poured into the jets themselves.
I doubt barely any money was poured into the jets themselves.
The government spent $323 billion dollars on 2.5k F-35s, and that's not including development costs for what is arguably a fairly mediocre (for the technology we have) fighter and attacker, if they were going to use the money anyway it might've been better to keep the Raptor and develop a modern ground attack aircraft instead.
It goes the other way too.
You're truly ignorant if you think the two parties are equal in their ethics. The Republican party is far more selfish and unethical compared to the Democrat party, so cut this "they're both just as bad" crap.

Try actually making an argument and maybe someone will believe you

At the bottom of the page there is a giant section named "references". Are you stupid?

There's no reference button anywhere I just checked myself.

But then you have to learn Swedish.

Don't forget the projected cost of maintaining and purchasing the f-35 fleet over its lifetime, is set to be over 1 trillion (as in >$1,000,000,000,000.00). That figure was many months ago. If the F-35 has not gone up in price since then, it will have been the ONLY fighter aircraft not to do so.
Obama just said he would veto any effort to remove the automatic spending cuts.

Least they have some incentive to actually come up with something.
Obama just said he would veto any effort to remove the automatic spending cuts.
I really hope he does, we need to draw the line somewhere.

You don't know US history if you think that's what the Founding Fathers intended.
It's hilarious that they formed this unconstitutional committee to bypass the deadlock of Congress, but the super committee has the exact same problem.

Actually both parties ALWAYS play the politics game. I think it's pretty ignorant to think that the Dems are "more holy" than the EVIL and downright HEARTLESS Republicans.

Yeah... after a month or two on this forum that point of view will be out the window. I mean, you're right in that Democrats can mess things up pretty bad. But, just LOOK at the crap being pulled by the Republicans now. How in the hell is a Democrat going to top that, even if they try?
Actually both parties ALWAYS play the politics game. I think it's pretty ignorant to think that the Dems are "more holy" than the EVIL and downright HEARTLESS Republicans.
Right about now watching them try to do anything is like watching a preschool class fighting over a bag of cookies, it's embarrassing is what it is.

I don't think for a second the Democrats are flawless and I don't even agree with everything they stand for, but you're in denial if you think that they do as many unethical and despicable deeds as the Republicans.
It's well known that reality has a liberal bias.
