Even with our gun control here in Italy, with handguns being fairly restricted, it's piss easy to get an illegal one if you know who to ask. Heck, even in my small town where nothing ever happens, we've had a pair of gun smugglers masquerading as fruit vendors, selling illegal crap for years.
Then perhaps "fairly restricted" isn't enough
Total firearm death rates per 100,000 in one year: USA - 10.27 England / Wales - 0.46 sorry.
Last time that stat was posted, the US one included suicides and cases of self-defense.
yeah and there's a massive difference between purchasing illegal drugs and purchasing a gun, if for no reason other than the severity and social taboo placed on it
Massive social taboo placed on which?
I wasn't disagreeing with that, I think it's pretty easy to get both I was disagreeing that guns would be a similar case
It would in a country that's given constitutional right to them from the start.
Massive social taboo placed on which?
buying some weed is a LOT different from buying a gun. buying an illegal gun is seriously shifty stuff, no matter how easy you think it is. the severity of punishment and the social taboo placed on buying an illegal firearm is way more serious than that of buying drugs [editline]3rd August 2012[/editline]
This isn't the first thread it's been debated in, I don't feel like looking up the statistics.
then stop posting stupid, unbacked shit?

The part that lists rates of violent crime and murder in a handful of states, with the District of Columbia have triple the rate of violent crime as the next highest state. Also, my point is not that the US is less violent than the UK, but that violence is declining in the US at a time when gun laws are fairly relaxed, while the UK is holding steady.
It's odd you should say that after having cited precisely nothing.
Where have I made factual claims I need to back up All I've said is it's harder to get a gun in the UK than it is in the US and a comparison of firearm deaths has already been posted
the statistics on gun crime in europe are false mitt romney said so himself liberal commie lefties just want to take away YOUR civil rights (mark 12:15 says that everyone has the right to own a gun to protect their home, family and honor) and your free will so that when you are all gun-less nobody will be able to stop liberal hitler obongo the clown in his rise to power i knew this country was going downhill when we gave blacks and women the vote. now people think taking away guns makes you SAFER, while it actually does the OPPOSITE
you should probably like, report them
They've been busted a couple years ago, although their business ran for a decade or more. And now rumors are another dude is continuing it somewhere else.
Then perhaps "fairly restricted" isn't enough
The ones sold illegally are usually imported from slavic countries, or were stolen during the war. Further restrictions would do fuck all.

funny how the violent crime rate grows with the start of the crack epidemic, and falls just as it comes to an end.. Are you seriously saying that since the violence rate in the UK isn't as high as the US it doesn't matter that they have the strictest gun laws AND highest violent crime rate in the EU? Shoulda known that my merge would be murdered.
