So, if we are to assume that this "lack of asian-american actors" is due to discrimination, you are fine with that discrimination so long as the films aren't made in America?
You're really stretching it with the technicalities on this one
Tbh the biggest issue I see with the representation of Asian-Americans in modern cinema is that you get movies that are based on some aspect of asian mythology and actually take place in Asia but then almost everyone important in the movie is white for no reason. It makes no sense and its like having a viking movie where everyone is black. Its not even about diversity at this point, its simply that hollywood seems to overlook asian actors for most roles.
Since Asian-American in this context seems also to include Indian and Pakistani individuals, I have to say that those have even worse representation than East Asian actors.
do you realise the prestigious bollywood actors are worth millions? ain't that shah rukh guy worth $500+million? Most of those guys are worth more than people like Tom Cruise ffs.
Black actors definitely deserve more recognition when it comes to awards etc.
Why should we award people based on their skin color and not performance?
Why should we award people based on their skin color and not performance?
that's exactly what yogkog was saying, "more recognition" = people are giving award-worthy performances but going unnoticed because of their race
that's exactly what yogkog was saying, "more recognition" = people are giving award-worthy performances but going unnoticed because of their race
There are a lot of factors in getting recognition of which race is only one, tons of award-worthy performances going unnoticed and 90% of the time it's down to luck, appearance etc.
