Those are the people that listen to Rush Limbaugh and live in another reality.
Sadly, yes. My wife's grandfather is one of those people. Stubborn as fuck and still living in 1950. Times change, politics needs to do so, or life will not be in balance.
But homosexuality is wroooong!
Excuse me for a stupid question, but why can't Obama make it so its nation wide so the state cannot decide? I'm iffy on US laws and congress and all that stuff obviously, since i'm from canada eh.
States have their own rights.

I don't know if he can, but if he did it would be a huge political effort akin to health care reform and would have to be a cornerstone of his domestic policy

I wish it was easier just to have a nationwide popular vote on these kinds of things instead of having politicians vote on it. Most people I know wouldn't mind homosexuals having the right to marry.

It is very strange how the US never has referendums, and in fact can't have them because there is no legal framework for them

Because that would be taking away states rights which means everyone would shit all over themselves
Usually I want to punt Feinstein into the next state but for once I agree with something she's doing.
Before gay marriage is allowed:

Also important to note: Gays are unnatural and not as god intended humans to live. You know. The same god that provided natural air travel, natural television, natural fast food, and natural evidence of the dinosuars (oh wait, that one actually is natural). That god.
Don't tell me you still believe that shit... I was born straight, just like gays were born gay.

Um. It's satire. Couldn't you tell by the fact that he says "Natural fast food"

I don't think you read his post right.

Didn't you know? Obama has done nothing and done everything wrong and drove America into the ground!
Yep, same way Bush became the record holder for highest approval rating ever (in the 90's somewhere) for a couple months after 9/11/01. Go figure that huh, holds both records for highest and lowest.
Actually I think Carter had one of the lowest approval ratings. Honestly, he was a pretty sucky president also.
Actually I think Carter had one of the lowest approval ratings. Honestly, he was a pretty sucky president also.
Yeah he was. Carter sucked.
TECHNICALLY, since churches are private groups, they're not obligated change their stance.
THANKFULLY, though, state-marriages will be permitted.
TECHNICALLY, since churches are private groups, they're not obligated change their stance.
That's not a technicality, that's pretty much the First Amendment.
Do you know what biased means?
Pretty sure he was saying it didn't make sense because it was like you were trying to make some kind of smug joke but it came out retarded.

He was blocked by congress from doing anything and then was blamed for not doing anything.
GEE SOUND FAMILIAR?
Although Carter's presidency received mixed reviews from some historians, his all-around peace keeping and humanitarian efforts since he left office have led him to be widely renowned as one of the most successful ex-presidents in US history.

Yeah he was. Carter sucked.
Though he sort of made up for it in his later years with all of that awesome charity work.
Well, while I suspect that Obama does support same-sex marriage, his official stance is that it's the role of the states to decide, not the federal government, with no statement to his stance on the issue, FYI. He's completely right about that, too.
Wow, that was a lot of commas.
I have to say this rather surprises me, Obama hasn't exactly been very friendly to the whole idea, wishy washy is the best I can say. But if he is going to get behind this and push I'm all for it.
Not that I think it will get anyway, the GOP can filibuster out of "moral principle" or some nonsense and advances in civil rights won't happen.
Wow, why would Obama support gay marriage. Being gay is wrong no matter how you look at it.

And back to the topic, I hope the SSM Act passes.
I can't believe my parents still think that Obama is a horrible president.
But then again they're the ones who don't watch Fox News because it's "too liberal"
I plan on watching C-SPAN the second this hits the floor, it's going to be very entertaining to see how the Republicans and the Dixicrats plan to argue this in a political, non-religious manner.
In b4 "They'll spread teh AIDS!"

Good lord, are you kidding me?
