if he deserves to rot in prison that's definitely what he will get. in a couple decades he will probably also get a cocktail of sodium thiopental, pavulon, and potassium chloride mainlined into his arm. does he deserve that as well? you seem like an expert on who deserves what, paradox621, so i defer to your authority on this one.
mass murdering coward apologist is here, everyone put your arguments away- he's already won.
its not like prison is fun he did what he did, don't let him do it again. you can't really do much more than that, nor is there any reason to.
I don't think you understand the reason death penalties ever existed. or for that matter punishment in general. does a parent discipline their child to get revenge for disobedience? no. a parent disciplines their child to establish an environment where acting out and misbehaving results in a negative outcome for the child. you can apply this basic principle to essentially any facet of law that's existed throughout history. when it's known that killing someone and getting caught will result in the end of your life, most people abstain from killing others. so when you say ''you can't really do much more than that'', you're wrong. why do you think the consequences for killing someone in law enforcement are so much more drastic than civilians?
Hes facing the death penalty and will probably get it rightfully so. premeditating a theater shooting and booby-trapping his apartment for police officers. Yea, fucker isnt insane. He knew exactly what he was doing.
I wonder how much we shaped our own species with our long history of such punishments. [editline]21st December 2013[/editline] What was Homo Erectus justice like? [Sp]my phone just tried to make me say "homo erect us"[/sp]
Colorado has the death penalty, but only uses lethal injection. We just killed a guy earlier this year who shot up a Chuck E Cheese's restaurant back in the 90s.
"On May 22, 2013, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said it was unlikely he would ever allow the execution of convicted killer Nathan Dunlap. Hickenlooper granted Dunlap an indefinite reprieve, citing doubts about the fairness of Colorado’s death penalty." I think you're mistaken.
This is why I think the Justice System is fucking stupid, you can do the most horrific things to people and destroy the lives of dozens and nothing happens to you these days. You just get juggled around court rooms or locked in a box, safe and sound while the ruins of the people you left behind smolder and choke those around them. Also gotta love the fact they're still saying 'accused' like they're not sure if the police found him next to his car behind the theater he shot up moments after, with it full of weapons whilst wearing full tactical gear.
You think the justice system is stupid because it attempts to function in a just manner, as the name directly implies?
You think the justice system is stupid because it attempts to function in a just manner, as the name directly implies?
There's a difference between just and bogged down, redundant, and nonsensical.
mass murdering coward apologist is here, everyone put your arguments away- he's already won.
his murders certainly won't matter anymore after we put him under the needle though. As in, he wasn't in some blind, unpremeditated rage.
-snip, I am a tool-

I remember news about it earlier, but forgot the details. I hope Hickenlooper gets thrown out next year.
Just bring back firing squads and be done with it There's literally no point in a trial for a case as exceptional as this
Just bring back firing squads and be done with it There's literally no point in a trial for a case as exceptional as this
Everybody goes through the system. As soon as you start circumventing it then you're heading down a bad road.
no one deserves death.
no one deserves death.
idk about that honestly. if no one deserves death then life is pretty unfair since it kills us all. i just tend to be skeptical of people who say they know who deserves to live or die.
Having it be possible for certain cases to just slip past the entire trial process will leave massive bleeding holes in the system and is just plain asking for trouble.
It'd end up with the defendant getting off absolutely scott-free with such a punishment being unconstitutional. Everyone has a right to a trial
Since the electric chair has been put out of service a long time ago due to how cruel and inhumane that method of execution is, I can only assume you mean the most uncomfortable chair in the whole prison he's gonna be incarcerated at.
There is an even worse method of punishment for him.
idk about that honestly. if no one deserves death then life is pretty unfair since it kills us all. i just tend to be skeptical of people who say they know who deserves to live or die.
Life is pretty unfair. After all, we had to invent medicine.
I don't understand - why is something that took place a year and a half ago only NOW coming to trial?
I don't understand - why is something that took place a year and a half ago only NOW coming to trial?
Contrary to popular belief, this is not the only crime that took place in 2012. [editline]31st December 2013[/editline] Also I think the death penalty is both inhumane as a concept and impractical in practice. Last I heard it costs more to execute someone than it does to keep them in prison. If that's the case, then how can you justify executing a person other than some sort of lust for revenge, so you can feel good about yourself because a person died? It doesn't make sense to me, it's like a kind of murder porn.
It disturbs me how many people still support death penalty
It disturbs me how many people still support death penalty
I concur, no one should have the power to decide over human life.
I concur, no one should have the power to decide over human life.
You mean like a guy who decided to end the lives of 12 people, and seriously altering the lives of another 70?
Hes facing the death penalty and will probably get it rightfully so. premeditating a theater shooting and booby-trapping his apartment for police officers.
You mean like a guy who decided to end the lives of 12 people, and seriously altering the lives of another 70?
So we should bring ourselves down to his level?
I concur, no one should have the power to decide over human life.
Take away basically every freedom he has, just dont killem [editline]31st December 2013[/editline]
So we should bring ourselves down to his level?
Its no where near the same thing
Since the electric chair has been put out of service a long time ago due to how cruel and inhumane that method of execution is, I can only assume you mean the most uncomfortable chair in the whole prison he's gonna be incarcerated at.
who gives a shit, they're dying. Who cares how painful it is? I could honestly care less how I'm going to die, it's the actual death part that scares me. I can deal with temporary pain!
Just bring back firing squads and be done with it There's literally no point in a trial for a case as exceptional as this
ok so now we don't need cases for murder right??? well rape is just as bad as murder why don't we just skip the trial and put the accused against a firing squad oh kiddy diddling is bad too let's do the same thing well if you rob something expensive that's really bad, kill them too yeah that's a fucking terrible idea
Take away basically every freedom he has, just dont killem
Uh huh, thing is, those aren't the only two options really. [editline]1st January 2014[/editline]
Just bring back firing squads and be done with it There's literally no point in a trial for a case as exceptional as this
If we start making exceptions to the system, the whole point of a system is ruined. Everything has to go through it if it's going to be a proper justice system.
