You know what those pictures do to kids when they see them? They see the horrible picture, ask their mommy in tears "Mommy, what is that?" "That's a tobacco-box." I'd say those kids will develop a strong dislike to tobacco and that is good.
People don't seem to understand that this isn't supposed to put smokers off smoking, it's to put those who are ignorant of the effects of smoking, off smoking.
This seems unnecessary. Instead of trying to scare people away from it, I think we should teach people the dangers and then let them decide for themselves. What's next, a picture of an obese man on every fast food product?
People don't seem to understand that this isn't supposed to put smokers off smoking, it's to put those who are ignorant of the effects of smoking, off smoking.
It's not going to work. It's just more useless government regulation. Go and ask people who smoke if they know about the side effects. The vast majority of people are going to say they know, yet they still do it.
Cigarettes kill people? WHOA, THEY'RE UNHEALTHY? NO FUCKING WAY, THIS IS ABSURD. Really, what kind of imbecile doesn't already know this?
People don't seem to understand that this isn't supposed to put smokers off smoking, it's to put those who are ignorant of the effects of smoking, off smoking.
That shouldn't at all be a goal of government. The government should not be influencing your choice at any point. An adult is fully capable of making their own decisions, and if they wish to remain ignorant about their decisions then it shouldn't be the government's job to convince them otherwise. Remember, ignorance means they are informed about the dangers and just ignoring them. If you accept that this is a legitimate use of government, then you must accept when they exercise it against stuff you do not find to necessitate it. Why not put a picture of someone pissing out a kidney stone on coffee products? Car crash victims on alcoholic beverages? Pictures of murder victims on guns? Surely this line of thinking comes from the pretension belief that you are capable of making your own decisions, but others aren't and may need help.
This isn't aimed at people who smoke, it's aimed at potential smokers
Have my winner rating.

I don't know, I smoke and i have a very healthy body.. Problem?
Pictures won't stop frequent smokers from buying cigarettes,if they do not wish to stop smoking nobody can force them.
I don't know, I smoke and i have a very healthy body.. Problem?
How long have you been smoking?
How long have you been smoking?
Probably a year and a half, Probably like 10 a day, along with a couple of bowls. (Weed)..
Probably a year and a half, Probably like 10 a day, along with a couple of bowls. (Weed)..
I highly doubt you will be that healthy in 30-40 years Weed isn't much of a problem since it's not addictive and people can stop whenever they want too.
I highly doubt you will be that healthy in 30-40 years Weed isn't much of a problem since it's not addictive and people can stop whenever they want too.
I plan on quitting once i have children anyway, I don't want them to grow up around it. Also, I'm a smoker, And i'll say it, No one in there right mind should start smoking tobacco unless its like a $16+ Cigar..
second hand smoke don't do shit. at least anyone non-smoker that i know doesn't give a shit if you smoke around them. but you are right, smoking is just paying to worsen your health.
Actually, secondhand smoke is dangerous for both children and adults according to research done Harvard School of Public Health and NHS. It releases both dangerous chemicals and nicotin through secondhand smoking. This is why you never smoke around children because they are affected by it. Here is a link to the abstract from their research: http://tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/content/early/2011/01/26/tc.2010.038711.short?q=w_tobaccocontrol_ahead_tab And you can find more of their research here: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/press-releases/2006-releases/press10052006.html It's pretty fucking clear that secondhand smoke is dangerous. I don't know why people keep saying that secondhand smoke doesn't do anything.
Oh you misguided retards, when will you learn that people have the right to do whatever they want to their body, you have no right to look down on them like you're the moral police.
Why is it apparently the government's job to scare us into doing what they want us to do now?
Blame it on right-wing think tanks.
Coffee and alcohol both have benefits in one way or another and guns can be used to protect yourself, tobacco offers no such benefit and is addictive enough to take away a persons ability to choose.
Alcohol has benefits? Isopropyl alcohol maybe...
Alcohol has benefits? Isopropyl alcohol maybe...
Reduces the risk of heart disease.
Coffee and alcohol both have benefits in one way or another and guns can be used to protect yourself, tobacco offers no such benefit and is addictive enough to take away a persons ability to choose.
Assume you're quite overweight, and we all know the dangers of that. The government should obviously take your ability to eat unhealthy food. You're not capable of taking care of yourself.
Oh you misguided retards, when will you learn that people have the right to do whatever they want to their body, you have no right to look down on them like you're the moral police.
It's all fine and dandy if they smoke but once it affects people who DOESN'T want to smoke or inhale nicotin and toxins, that's when cigarettes become a problem. And it is a problem right now.
It can be harder than you think and really depends on how strong of an addiction the person has, my uncle attempted to stop smoking but just found it impossible, which is quite sad to be honest.
I don't get addicted easy, Like, I'll say i'm addicted now, But if i needed to stop for the rest of my life, I'll say that's that and just stop.
Weed isn't much of a problem since it's not addictive and people can stop whenever they want too.
I have a friend who smokes weed and doesn't even smoke normal cigarettes nor drink alcohol. He starts shaking and shit if he doesn't get it in a while. Plus I have a dad that works with drug addicts as a doctor and he has patients that come to him and tell him that they cant stop smoking weed.

Care too refute that point rather than being an idiot?
