I'm not telling you shit, you'll just judge me right off the bat like the blind ignorant fool that you are.
then we're just going to assume more about you. I'd guess you smoke rarely. Rarely enough to not get addicted
No no, don't back from what you were saying and act like you were claiming something far different. You're clearly not interested in informing people, you're interesting in affecting their choice which goes far further than informing. Whatever you believe is bad should have government discouragement, perhaps though graphic pictures, maybe through a sin tax. You're propagating a non-existent rubric on what choices the government should be allowed to interfere with.
And it is certainly the government's job to make the hard choice for you.
When did I say that?
Stress relief.
Seriously? I never knew that, thanks for enlightening me with your infinite wisdom and experience on these things!
What the fuck do I know? I'm just a dirty smoker who can't think for himself.
calm down man
you're the one who said that statement was a baseless assumption
What the fuck do I know? I'm just a dirty smoker who can't think for himself.
From what we've seen in this thread, not alot.
Stress relief.
Yeah that's not really a proper benefit, no where close to being deemed beneficial, considering you're sacrificing your longs for slight stress relief.
Learn to smoke at home, and only at home, and I might feel a modicum of sorrow for you.
But you would probably still decide to sit next to me and stink like cigarette smoke.
This is what smokers fail to realize: Your nose and taste buds do not function nearly as well as a non smoker's. We can smell you. You smell AWFUL. When you smoke outside a door, I have to breathe in your awful fucking fumes and put up with inhaling an airborne poison.
So fuck off. You have violated my right to breathe for decades with your suicidal bullshit. You can put up with some tiny pictures of your future.
I've never had anyone complain about my smoking, although personally, I'm very aware that people don't like second hand smoke, and I ALWAYS do my best to keep it out of peoples way, and I'm not trying to say that they have to be forced to like it, I just think its fucked up how some people go out of there way to make smokers look like evil people who should be sanctioned from society.
smoking keep the population under control
it feels like the only thing the government want weed legalized for is so that they can spare money. more people will just get harmed if it gets legalized so why not just keep it illegal?
care to explain and not just rate me dumb.
The way I see it is simply like this, people get harmed by it, so we pay to keep it away from them. The only thing we win on legalizing it is money, and I'd say that it's a pretty good investment to keep people healthy.

that's why legalization should happen - because it can bring revenue
also if marijuana is legalized, I think it's safe to assume that it'll bring down drug violence
The problem with arguing that 'stress relief' is a pro is the fact that the stress itself is caused by NOT smoking (because your brain needs nicotine - it, and by extension you, are addicted). You'd probably find that had your life gone identically as it did except that you were a non-smoker instead that, even though you may still be stressed, you wouldn't be nearly as stressed as you were as a smoker going through the same shit.
It's the same reason people seem to get cranky a lot in the morning and even get headaches if they're used to drinking coffee/tea every morning and don't have any on that day. Nobody seems to connect the dots and realise that caffeine is actually a pretty damn addictive substance and that their brain actually grows dependant on it. If they weren't drinking so much coffee in the first place they wouldn't feel stressed and have a headache that needed caffeine to 'fix' that. I myself am guilty of this little addiction (I don't get cranky like some people, though - my head just hurts if I don't have caffeine for long enough).

Of course nobody complains. I don't walk up to smokers and tell them to fuck off because getting in a fist fight with every smoker isn't worth the time or bruises. Even outside, you create a fifty meter bubble of awfulness.
Even if you wash your clothes daily, they will eventually begin to permanently smell like cigarettes and make anyone sitting near you annoyed.
It is an awful disgusting habit that instantly makes you trashy.
No one hates the smokers themselves
then what are we even arguing about?
Let smokers smoke
Government issued warnings aren't going to stop anything.

Okay that was just way out of line, you obviously have personal vendetta against smokers, and you're not even trying to hide it.

No, I think most people recognize it. It isn't terribly addictive. Two weeks and some aspirin, and you will be completely detoxed. I do it every so often just to give my body a break for a few months.

and just like the weed itself is a addiction, money is too. basicaly that point is money over health, which is just sad.

Two weeks? Generally I get over it after a couple of days (maybe 4 at most?) if I'm starved of caffeine.

people will smoke weed regardless of whether it is legal or illegal, so why not make the best of the situation?

Well atleast you understand that much, quitting smoking isn't as hard as people make out.

I'm morally superior to you, don't do things I don't like around me. Keep you habits that I find disgusting in your basement. I hate it when you do stuff I don't like. Just live in your house and don't come near me. And ya, the smells I don't like smell bad. Despite their being no scientific evidence of second hand smoking being dangerous in open areas, I'm still going to describe it as a poison. Now I'm making up some ridiculous right to breath, and justifying the pictures with some personal hatred for a group of people.
You seem like you just like to complain. If you were homophobic, you're probably type up the below.
Only do gay things in your home, and only in your home, and I might feel a little less sorry for you.
But you would probably still decide to go out in public and I'd have to put up with seeing you and your boyfriend kissing right in front of me. Worse, you might sit next to me and you have no clue how uncomfortable that makes me.
This is what gays people fail to realize: your sense of self does not is not nearly as modest as our's. We can see you and we know you're gay. I can smell the gay. It's so distracting and it can't be ignored. When you're flirting with some guy outside a door, I have to tolerate that awful sexual orientation and breath be within arm's distance to someone I don't like.
So fuck off. You have violated my right to to not be around people I don't like with your habits I disagree with. You can put up with some legislation that tries to make you straight.

and just like the weed itself is a addiction
uh what
marijuana addictions are not stronger than coffee addictions
people will smoke weed regardless of whether it is legal or illegal, so why not make the best of the situation?
not as many will smoke it if it's illegal, so how can it be the best choice to make if it will just mess up more people?
um, yea, can we reply instead of rating, thanks.
I cannot fathom a single smoker looking at the package and thinking "hey, this things aren't good for me!" and quiting. It's rather desensitizing when you show someone the long term extremes (and they are extremes), and can often result in people not taking any messages seriously.
Gunfox that is the worst possible justification for restricting rights I have ever heard in my life. Part of living in a liberal democracy is putting up with things like that. It's as justifiable as banning perfumes (because I feel they smell bad), or fining people for not showering (properly). (this is assuming you live in a state which restricts smoking to some degree, such as not in workplaces, and away from doors).

Except gay doesn't fuck up your health. (I'm talking about the person breathing in the second hand smoke before you jump to any conclusions)

What was your first clue?
Smoking is something that trashy people do. It is actually a fast way to identify people who lack class or education. You can spot them pretty easily because smoking causes your skin to suffocate, making you look markedly worse than similarly aged people.
People assume your class level has to do with how much money you have. To a degree, that is true, but how you handle yourself can, and will, make that almost entirely irrelevant. Smoking is one of those actions that is going to instantly bump you down a notch or two.

I never said ban it, did I? I merely pointed out that tiny pictures of your future really doesn't bother me, nor does it stop you from smoking.

Last I checked, being gay wasn't carcinogenic and being around gay people didn't give children asthma.
Two weeks? Generally I get over it after a couple of days (maybe 4 at most?) if I'm starved of caffeine.
Two weeks before your body has completely returned to normal. Generally the number of the days of headaches varies on the person. Like I have four or five with a mild headache, but nothing too bad. After that the difference is subtle.

Except that it's not really addictive and keeping it illegal causes a lot of people to be arrested for crimes that don't hurt anyone?
