I wish I knew the psychology behind the rioting so I could understand it better. The riots make me angry, but I know poverty can affect people negatively.
well i hope the residents of ferguson enjoy digging themselves out of the pit they just dug. they want justice but then burn down businesses and kill people
A Detroit in the making.
The rioters are going to think they're all billy badasses until the cops start shooting back with live ammo. It's only a matter of time.
Doubtful. Rubber rounds and beanbags will stop people just as well, and until the riot breaks up completely that's all they're going to be issued. The exact last thing we need is cops armed with live rounds firing into crowds.
black people get the shaft end of every speed bump this country hits and here i'm reading 500 posts expecting all of them to act like Socrates and drink their hemlock instead of being angry. talk about sheltered.
I don't think not shooting at emergency services requires you to be Socrates.
History repeats itself here once again, by the way. Anyone remember the LA riots of 1992?
well i hope the residents of ferguson enjoy digging themselves out of the pit they just dug. they want justice but then burn down businesses and kill people
Very few of the "protesters" who are looting and burning shit are from Ferguson, most them have came from other areas to take advantage of the situation to loot and burn shit.
Kmart and Tacobell fully engulfed in flames with no fire crews able to get to the scene. A group of looters just broke into a Walgreens, and another group is trying to break into an electrical supply warehouse. Just scanner updates.
well i hope the residents of ferguson enjoy digging themselves out of the pit they just dug. they want justice but then burn down businesses and kill people
A lot of the rioters aren't even from Ferguson. The looters, especially, are taking advantage of the protest to swoop in, grab a bunch of free shit, and leave before the police can catch them. The police aren't going to be searching for stolen property a county over when they have a burning city to deal with.
I'm sorry, but this is just false. I've been watching these live streams for a few hours now and every single interview of a random protester (other than that very recent one with the mother and son) made it very clear that they are furious over the "murder" of Michael brown.
yeah ok i don't think that's for you to decide at all
I wish I knew the psychology behind the rioting so I could understand it better. The riots make me angry, but I know poverty can affect people negatively.
people who don't care disguising their actions of rioting and looting as "protesting".

How do you know that the looters aren't from Ferguson? They might be, they might not be. Don't pretend like you know.

They put this on one of the streams. Fucked.

stop sharing tumblr screencaps who cares what those people think n i shouldn't have to parrot myself about this
Are the rumors true that brooklyn and the other bridge are shut down right now?
If you want to make a point, then make it. Vague questions are meaningless.
sorry i thought it was quite obvious what i was saying, the death of michael brown acted as a catalyst for years (or even decades) of indignation over the discrimination and abuses that black people in ferguson have received from the police
I wish I knew the psychology behind the rioting so I could understand it better. The riots make me angry, but I know poverty can affect people negatively.
The general belief is that people riot when they feel that society has wronged them. It's just a shotgun of anger not directed at anything in particular. Then again Vancouver burned after they lost a hockey game so who knows. Alcohol breaks sociology?
Jesus Christ these people are fucking psychotic
I've unfollowed 4 people on Twitter so far saying similar shit. Seems like people aren't thinking before they type.
Are the rumors true that brooklyn and the other bridge are shut down right now?
Yep; the protests in the city itself were pretty huge as well. More people, less disaster, though. Goddamn maxspeed seriously calm down
sorry i thought it was quite obvious what i was saying, the death of michael brown acted as a catalyst for years (or even decades) of indignation over the discrimination and abuses that black people in ferguson have received from the police
It seems that you ignored my point that based on random protester interviews they seem to more focused on the "injustice" of the Michael Brown case. Every single one, bar one, stated it as the major reason for being out there.
One thing to take away from this regardless of where you stand on this specific case is that grand juries almost always indict - except when it's a cop. For those applauding this decision, how long until the same decision is made on case where you actually believe the cop was in the wrong? It seems to be a common complaint on the internet that police officers are allowed to get away with whatever they want, and we're looking at one of the reasons why.
The general belief is that people riot when they feel that society has wronged them. It's just a shotgun of anger not directed at anything in particular.
sorry i thought it was quite obvious what i was saying, the death of michael brown acted as a catalyst for years (or even decades) of indignation over the discrimination and abuses that black people in ferguson have received from the police
uh sorry but when the "catalyst" is something that the mob and rioters are horribly misinformed about it doesn't do much to further your cause or have it taken seriously then again this is the group that thinks burning down the city will make the cops respect them so I dunno why I'd expect them to stop and think for five seconds. Again, no amount of percieved oppression and persecution legitimizes burning down buildings of people completely un involved and shooting at cops.
Chick on CNN just got nailed right in the head with a rock.

Every single one, bar one, stated it as the major reason for being out there.
no it seems you ignored my point, yes that's their reason, WHY is it that their reason? WHY do they think it's such a big deal? BECAUSE they've had to deal with so much horseshit for so long that they feel like this is the straw that broke the camels back or whatever. so yeah they might be misdirected in regards to who their martyr is, but wow surprise surprise extremely angry and disenfranchised people don't always think things all the way through
I am hearing that stuff is going down, I would read the 25 pages (I read Page 1) but I am busy. So could someone sum it up from the start to present?
The governor said the National Guard was on stand by not too long ago. They knew far in advance that this was going to happen. Why weren't they prepared. There's going to be some nasty political fallback because of this in a few days
