you're right nevermind i guess the system can never change
This is my favorite shot from all this, draws parallels from the Tienanmen square incident in china.
Are you personally going to pay for the infrastructure needed for that?
I feel like most people would be willing to pay extra taxes for something that could keep them from being wronged and/or hurt. But what do I know?
Police are about to move in in about 5 minutes on this crowd;

The US is barely willing to pay extra taxes for medical insurance. Something that would without a doubt save lives.
There are new fires every 5 minutes and the camera's only show the fires after their started. There's a woman in the center of the entire situation, and is only being hit with "rocks". I did not see any rocks, and then the guy somewhere else in the world where it appeared to be fucking day time said there are rocks flying across the screen. Ferguson is Trumanville it's all a show by the higher powers.
OK there, Alex Jones.

I am saying it would be cost prohibitive.
if we can pay for insanely high end cop gear through taxes i'm sure we can part w/ a few fractions of a cent for stuff that helps to provide proof
HealSTL is burning
See, you say that, but based on what the protesters are ACTUALLY SAYING they seem to be angry about the Michael Brown case. You might feel that way, but I see no evidence that these protestors have some bigger picture in mind.
It doesn't matter that they don't have a bigger picture in mind. I'm not talking on behalf of the protesters. I said that in the first sentence of that post. The sociological reasoning behind all of this is undeniably a sense of discrimination. People recognize that they could've been Michael Brown, and that they could've died. Before any of the evidence came out and all the eyewitness reports said that he was surrendering, it was very much a case of "this police department is profiling me and everyone like me."
Again, I don't give half a polished dick about what the protesters said. I'm not interested in the individual's reasoning behind attending the protests. I'm interested in the overarching reasons that people feel a relation to Brown's death. It's very obvious that people aren't crying out because a black person died - that happens all the time. They're protesting his death because they are constantly under suspicion and discrimination, and having that police discrimination result in a death is the best opportunity to voice their concerns.
I don't know why I'm debating you - in another thread you were utterly convinced that black people were wholly at fault for the situation they're in, and that poverty and discrimination were not deciding factors in the current rebellious and angry black youth culture.

Police do get a lot of their stuff from the military that the military was getting rid of anyway. Those armored vehicles being one. For extremely cheap and even free

i guess money is more important than potentially stopping and/or recording cases of fraud, neglect, and abuse by police (or the other party)
oh yeah and maybe preventing loss of human life.
Sounds like steady gunfire in Ferguson now.

I guess I should stop taking people at their own words and start imputing .Isak.'s reasons onto them.

if you want cameras, you're gonna need higher taxes, and with higher taxes means people with that "fuck the police" and "they took our jobs" mentality complaining about high taxes leading to politicians lobbying for lowered taxes and you have another reagan and bush scenario.
a stream is up, i dont know if it's a new one or not

Excellent counterpoint. Truly.
I guess Occupy really was just a big camping trip, and the real reason for the protest was "like, to stick it to those wall street fuckers, dude! want a hit man?"

I'd like to see you set up a complete system for body cams, from what type of camera they'll use to the support the system will have, in a town where the police have such a small budget that they have to make up the small amount of money they have with speeding tickets.

I suppose you would be against cctv cameras for that.
I recommend that people read his, Officer Wilsons, testimony. Some sobering reading. Really paints a picture unknown to the public. I would have done the same actions that Wilson did after reading his situation.

I've been watching this one: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/stackizshort?utm_campaign=JPER&utm_medium=FlashPlayer&utm_source=embed
It seems to be just a couple people down in the same spot, but it's slightly better quality.
I think a quote from Malcolm X is kinda fitting right now.
"If you stick a knife nine inches into my back and pull it out three inches, that is not progress. Even if you pull it all the way out, that is not progress. Progress is healing the wound, and America hasn't even begun to pull out the knife. They won't even admit the knife is there."

http://fox2now.com/On-Air/Live-Streaming/ is providing good overall coverage but is just reading off of the Reddit live feed like everyone else. Not many good on-the-ground streams anymore, and the original KSDK stream is glitching out bad.

Notice the blackclad hoody guy going back and forth from the police lines and yelling at people to get back and get on the sidewalk.
This is my favorite shot from all this, draws parallels from the Tienanmen square incident in china.
How does this have anything in common with Tienanmen square?
There's a guy in the road that's where the similarities end.

well good fucking thing i don't have to lol, because i'm pretty sure the government will hire somebody that isn't an 18 year old that barely graduated from highschool that plays videogames all day.
The police scanner for the area is reporting shots from a high powered rifle.

i'd rather see the federal government set that system up than some dude on facepunch to be honest

My favorite is the cameraman staring straight at the big scene light and bitching that it's blinding him.
"The sun insists on blinding me, they really need to get that fucking thing out of here..."
