I think a quote from Malcolm X is kinda fitting right now. "If you stick a knife nine inches into my back and pull it out three inches, that is not progress. Even if you pull it all the way out, that is not progress. Progress is healing the wound, and America hasn't even begun to pull out the knife. They won't even admit the knife is there." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cReCQE8B5nY
Nice job on quoting pre-Mecca Malcom X!
I'd like to see you set up a complete system for body cams, from what type of camera they'll use to the support the system will have, in a town where the police have such a small budget that they have to make up the small amount of money they have with speeding tickets.
why don't you place that responsibility on the federal government instead of using this as an excuse to make an incessantly stupid and snarky comment
well good fucking thing i don't have to lol, because i'm pretty sure the government will hire somebody that isn't an 18 year old that barely graduated from highschool that plays videogames all day.
Whoosh goes the point over your head.
ok? what's the punchline/who cares
well good fucking thing i don't have to lol, because i'm pretty sure the government will hire somebody that isn't an 18 year old that barely graduated from highschool that plays videogames all day.
"we need to solve racial violence in america" "why don't YOU try it then? yeah if you care so much make a plan and shit, don't talk about that sort of stuff unless you know how to fix it!!"
Whoosh goes the point over your head.
what was your point? that it would be hard & expensive? okay, i'm fairly sure every progressive step in law enforcement has been hard & expensive. is that a reason to not do it? how can we expect shit like this to ever stop if we're just going to accept how our heavily flawed justice system is and not bothered to try and fix/improve it because it's either too expensive or because milkandcooki can't come up with ways how [editline]25th November 2014[/editline] i say 'our' because the NZ justice system has alot of the same problems as americas and is also heavily influenced by americas
why don't you place that responsibility on the federal government instead of using this as an excuse to make an incessantly stupid and snarky comment
Okay then, let's see how much it'll cost to equip EVERY GODDAMN PD IN THE COUNTRY, from the NYPD to Podunk, NC's PD, with cameras and the infastructure needed. Oh, we also have to make sure that the system will work, the backups mechanisms work, tech support for all of the PDs in case something goes wrong and that the system is tamper-proof. That is going to cost a fuckton of money.
Nice job on quoting pre-Mecca Malcom X!
whoosh goes the sentiment right over your head

I'm pretty sure that it being too expensive was his point. And I assure you most people don't want to pay more taxes.
Going to be a looooooot of murders by the end of the week.
yeah i'm sure you can part w/ a few fractions of a penny on your tax statement
Hahaha good luck trying to convince people to raise taxes. White America likes police departments, but they like their low taxes more. Even something like a one-cent raise on something like a gas tax can be an uphill battle.
I'm pretty sure that it being too expensive was his point. And I assure you most people don't want to pay more taxes.
i don't place the value of money over people's lives, nor should anyone
I'm pretty sure that it being too expensive was his point. And I assure you most people don't want to pay more taxes.
I'd be willing to wager that a majority of Americans oppose any sort of new tax even if it is for their benefit.
yeah i'm sure you can part w/ a few fractions of a penny on your tax statement
Which is going to get pulled from somewhere else, probably education.
I've been voting for a couple of years and every single ballot measure to raise taxes was voted yes by like 60-40. In a heavy republican area. In fact I'll go further and say that our representative is a libertarian type guy.
Body cameras are not too expensive. The only reason they wouldn't get passed easily is that the police themselves overall do not want them, as they don't want to be held accountable all the time for what they say and do. I feel we need them, and most likely we will get them.

Pretty sure NK will take any chance it gets to ridicule the US, even though their entire country is essentially the text book definition of "human rights disaster" in modern times.
people are so fucking dumb. Muh feels =/= law. Goddamn. Get your heads together for fucks sake. Common sense is so drowned out by these idiots.
Oh, We should all submit to his superior leadership. What exactly does he think he will accomplish by this?
Stupid people who say things like, "When North Korea critiques you, then you know you're bad!"

They exist now but are always officer-triggered and the footage expires after so many days unless it's manually flagged. Officers often are encouraged not to record routine stops simply because it wastes so much storage space. Because modifying the footage makes it inadmissible, it can't be edited down to only include the important bits, either. When you compare the cost of handling and storing all of that footage in a department which may only experience a few scandalous incidents per year warranting its retrieval, it doesn't look good for a nationwide rollout.

They should stop rioting about something that doesn't even affect them and do something productive instead.
Not sure if this can be verified, but some new sites are reporting that the police departments are arming store owners with rifles, and radio equipment. If this turns out to be true, it's really only a matter of time.
someone wake up Al Sharpton! He'll calm things down!
