Was anyone watching that newsrevo livestream? Tons of glass breaking sounds, sudden tear gas, and then he just shut his stream down. This other stream is in the basement of some coffee shop because of the tear gas I guess. She said something about flash bangs as well.
Can someone summarize whats happened so far since the thread began? Don't want to have to read through 1k+ posts.
Read the OP. I updated it.
no one is saying that they're justified in destroying property or harming people
I know, I just felt like there was a lack of discernment between protesting and rioting. I could have been mistaken in the way I read the comment, sorry if I was.
And the Ku Klux Klan still exists and still says shit. I agree that he's a psychopath, but he has a right to say shit anyways.
The difference of course is that essentially all white people have a negative opinion about the KKK, but Al Sharpton is thought of as representative of the black community by more black people than any other single person.
Just because something has to be done, doesn't mean that anything and everything should be done. It's possible to do something without burning down the businesses belonging to people who had absolutely nothing to do with this. It's possible to protest without inciting/engaging in violence.
There is nobody here applauding the rioters. Nobody. Everybody here wants peaceful action and discussion and review, not arson and looting. There's pretty much nobody anywhere who's siding with the looters except idiots and the looters themselves.
Being black in the country will, on average, give you a harder life than being white. Because this is the case, you have to ask "why?"
It's not so, forgive me for saying this because of the mindnumbing ironic phrasing, 'black and white' as that, though. There's also positive discrimination, and in many cases a black man would be chosen for a job position over someone else, more qualified or not, to meet proper quotas so the nation can 'curb' the racism. It's sort of a thing where in our attempts to make up for the shit we'd done for hundreds of years, not only do the problems still exist, even if not as blatantly to the point that people don't realize racism still exists, but the government exacerbates the hostility between both sides by trying to give preference like a statistic.

But I desperately hope that people will not disregard everything that these protests have worked for because of this one night of violence. There are serious issues that need to be addressed regarding this situation, both directly related to Micheal Brown and not. They are important and people taking this event at face value are at odds with progress.

This guy wondering why his useless paper mask didn't protect him from tear gas...
Can someone summarize whats happened so far since the thread began? Don't want to have to read through 1k+ posts.
Cop let go free, rioters start getting pissed, crowd around a police car and start to smash it up, set it on fire, smoke canisters launched, everyone runs, reassembles once the smoke clears, rubber bullets start flying, process repeats over and over, eventually with tear gas. A whole ton of buildings have been set on fire in the meantime, as well as many more being looted. One cop got shot, nobody knows whether it was directly related. A few civilians have been shot as well.

But the thing is, on average, people of color do have it harder. I wonder which there is more of; intrinsic racism in the U.S. towards white people or people of color?
there's no systematic racism against people of colour. Yeah there are the few redneck weirdos. But most people aren't rednecks who fly confederate flags on the back of their pickup
I like how you say there's no systematic racism and then back that up by saying that there's very little overt racism from individuals. It's like you're unaware that words have meaning

I'm just wondering how long until the police illegally ban the media from the area like they did last time.

The reason discrimination is less obvious is because of these policies. I agree that they should be eventually phased out, but they're providing impoverished black people the valuable opportunity to amass wealth and stabilize their lives.

Stream sounds like a zombie apocalypse aftermath. "You look like a stage 1 zombie" "Yeah, they raided the local church" "Is there still gas on the first floor?
I'm just wondering how long until the police illegally ban the media from the area like they did last time.
Not going to happen. "last time" was over exaggerated too

Martial law is going to be hilarious to try and enforce. This is going to be a fuckin' great time of year, happy thanksgiving everyone.

It's not a 'present problem' in the active minds that most of the population is actively concerned with until riots like these happen. But then I could be very wrong, and I certainly don't have much in the way of interaction with large amounts of people to even say this is anything more than an optimistic opinion. v:v:v

It's extremely detrimental to what could have been a positive outcome to this terrible situation. Really, really sad.
EXACTLY. It's extremely detrimental to what could have been a positive outcome to this terrible situation. Really, really sad.
Your name is wrong, you seem like a very sincere and kind person. Should be Bigheart.
everything is a god damned clusterfuck
Those things can just as easily be linked to poor people.
yeah and the people that have been involved as statistics in these studies have also been cited

Does anybody have a news story about the 1:30am press conference?

It makes it difficult for people of color due to them being judged simply for their race. I think as the older generations die out, Global Nomadism will prevail and acceptance will generally be the norm.
