Brown died because he made an extremely poor decision, not because of the cops, not because society failed him, not because the system was out to get him, brown lies dead in a grave right now because of his piss poor decision making skills.
The question lies in whether his decision was made poorly enough to justify a police officer killing him. The protests have never been all about Michael Brown, either. He's just a poster child for countless other acts of police killing civilians in cases where they probably shouldn't have. They're protesting the police system that let Michael Brown die.
-snip -edit, I am sorry for what i said on Facepunch, i regret what i said.
Anybody else get tired of "those" black people try to throw the racist trump card every time a white guy shoots a black man. Im not racist, hence the "" on black, I'm referring to the protesters in Ferguson. Don't Crucify me.
youre racist

If a black man killed a white man, and white people called for extermination, it'd be called turn of the century america. For the most part, they're not saying "Wilson's a racist murderer," they're saying "this is the type of discrimination we have to put up with on a daily basis and it's bullshit that we have to be scared of the police."
Oh, fair enough. I'm surprised a country with an anti-authoritarian streak as large as the USA would actually tolerate the military imposing law and order on the populace, though I guess the National Guard did, in sense, grow from the militia movement during the Civil War.
The National Guard started out as state run militaries. Which the state run stuff started out as militias. Which were every able bodied male of a specific age range. When the country was founded the militias were the only way to enforce order in times of crisis. This country was founded on the principal of limiting government interference with daily life (which has increased every year :( ) and separation of powers. Technically it is possible for the President to order to military to enforce order inside the country, he just needs Congress authorization (Posse Comitatus Act). But that Act came later after the civil war. Before the President could just order it.
Except the jews in Germany were a minority. If a black man killed a white man, and white people called for extermination, it'd be called turn of the century america.
How can Wilson have been discriminating against Brown without being racist exactly?
I explained it earlier - it's not a conscious decision to discriminate. Wilson probably isn't pondering how much he hates black people. He probably has black friends. It's a subtle, unconscious discrimination. He pulls somebody over, and he's black, so he reacts differently and more apprehensively - but he never once thinks "Fuck, another black guy, I hate them." It's something everyone experiences and most people don't notice, but when you have a police force that constantly engages in this unconscious discrimination it really adds up and pressures people to distrust them. To clarify: it's a lot like the stereotype that black people don't tip. Waiters encounter those sorts of individuals, and it's a more negative interaction than usual, so they unconsciously associate black people with tipping poorly and treat black people poorly because of it. In an area with a 2/3 black population, most of the crime is probably committed by black individuals, and so a cop would associate black people with crime unconsciously and treat them differently because of it - even if they're entirely innocent.

Otherwise if they are a normal part of society and not some hood thug they should have nothing to worry about.
Well I guess they should be scared of being shot if they are dumb enough to try and pull a gun off an officer. Otherwise if they are a normal part of society and not some hood thug they should have nothing to worry about.
Again, it's not at all about Brown's actions. When it first happened, everyone just saw that a cop shot an 18-year-old and there wasn't any evidence either way. The reason people are reacting so harshly is because they've experienced discrimination like that for years and years. Black teens are profiled insanely often, and police treat them like criminals - no matter if they actually are criminals or they're top-tier students. The issue is that they are a normal part of society and they do have to worry about this shit. There's a reason thug/gangster culture exists, and there's a definite reason as to why there's such a "fuck the police" attitude in black communities, and it's because everyone is assumed to be guilty before innocent.
"hood thug" is nothing but a way to say nigger without saying nigger.
I disagree. Not all "hood thugs" are of color.
To be fair in the context of his sentence itself, it sounds incredibly condescending if not racist.
I disagree. Not all "hood thugs" are of color.
I agree except white people are technically colored too since our skin is slightly pinkish.
They aren't charging him It's in.
"hood thug" is nothing but a way to say nigger without saying nigger.
Yes because antisocial white skinheads, hispanic thugs and thugish chavs are totally muh nigga mate. You're coming off as extremely racist here just because you can. Even if you don't intentionally mean it.
Despair ahead.

When he decided to go for Wilson's gun and get into a physical confrontation with that same police officer, that's when he lost all credibility to claim innocence and when Wilson was completely justified in putting him down. This debate is over. It's been over since August after the shooting when this information started to come out. There's nothing to protest here, because this is an example of "the system" working exactly as it should. You haven't got the right to assault a police officer with deadly intentions, if you try you'll be killed (in all likelihood) and that's how simple it is. The protests are fucking retarded, and the fact the protestors have to resort to using this kind of person (Michael Brown) as their "poster child" just proves how retarded this all is. There's nothing to protest here; some idiot stole from a convenience store, got caught by a cop for it, attempted to fight his way out of the situation, and got killed. Wait for an actual police brutality case to happen and then protest.
Wait for an actual police brutality case to happen and then protest.
They thought that this case was an actual police brutality case and they acted before enough evidence arose, but they were already too far gone by then. These protests are a good thing from a historic perspective, since now people are finally starting to acknowledge an long-standing underlying racial tension between police and their communities.
Prepare for impending doom. Maybe.
I agree except white people are technically colored too since our skin is slightly pinkish.
Pink? No we're more sand colored, like beach sand.

These protests are a good thing from a historic perspective, since now people are finally starting to acknowledge an long-standing underlying racial tension between police and their communities.
It's exactly this - people are forgetting that for several days it seemed like a racial killing. In a few more years there's definitely going to be a case where an innocent black person is killed by a police officer, and then there'll be a "poster child" for the backlash. But, like I've said dozens of times in this thread, it has absolutely nothing to do with Brown or Martin or anybody: it's a cultural and social issue that is rearing its head, not a matter of finding the perfect poster child to kill.
Pink? No we're more sand colored, like beach sand.
I meant peachy colored but this description is better.
