If those guys didn't see it coming, than they're idiots.

That's like saying if a bunch of black people didn't see a lynching a coming when they cut through the woods during a Klan meeting means they're idiots.
It should not be the persecuted's responsibility to avoid bigots. It should be the bigots' responsibility to avoid the persecuted.

Except they knew what they were doing, and they were right in front of a church. People who try and challenge society's ideals shouldn't be surprised when people get made. I don't think Rosa Parks was wondering why all the white people were so mad at her when she got arrested.
I'm pretty sure she was, which is precisely why she protested the entire idea. "Why do I have to sit at the back?" was the general question.
Seriously, now, you're calling Rosa Parks an idiot too?
I'd like to know what would happen if they tried that in front of a mosque instead of a church.
all the mooslims would scream allah akbar and half the city would be turned into ash

I'm saying she knew what she was doing, and what would happen, and she didn't act like she was and unsuspecting victim. Of course these people shouldn't have been arrested, but I wouldn't call them victims. If they wanted to provoke a reaction, and they got one. Like I said, they'd be idiots if they didn't expect this. Hell, these are Mormons, they'd wouldn't be too happy two straight people making out, either.
I'ts mostly about sex being only for procreation and not just for pleasure. And they figure 2 men can't make a baby and 2 women can't make a baby so they are having sex just for the pleasure.
That's actually about as far from the truth as possible.
Even the Bible is pretty damned vague about it. Either vague or so subtle it's hard to be sure of what it means.
But I know the catholic church is against condoms... So yea, in that case you're right. Any time sex is brought up in a church they're going to shun it, I've never been to a church that says "Hey everyone go home and have a big ol' orgy!"
I have to say, while I have no problem with gays, what these two did was a real assholish thing to do. Where do they get off going into the most holy site in the world for a bunch of people and then basically desecrating it with condemned acts. I mean how can you preach tolerance and then shit on something that's that important to people?
I don't care how stupid someone's beliefs are, this is just mindless aggression that serves no purpose. If I decided to worship the tree in my yard, would you defend someone coming and chopping it down and throwing it into a woodchipper just to spite me?
And yes, even if you were straight, you would be asked to leave or stop if you started making out (I come from a mormon family, I used to live in utah, and I've been to that temple numerous times) It is tax exempt, I understand that, but it's a church, and what's the point of a church if it's not allowed to have crazy beliefs?
Ew. They deserve it.

Not the same. More like, "If I decided to worship a tree in a public park, would you defend someone with just as much right to be there as I have coming and doing something harmless that I consider immoral in front of it just to spite me?"
How was it assholish?
from what i got from the article, they were just walking by it hugging and kissing, i didnt even read anywhere they said no, it just says they were told to leave then were handcuffed, all i see there is abuse of the system, they probably arent mormon so why should they need to conform to the rules of a religion they dont beleive in, its not like the law system, its not enforced
I for one am  by your post ryandaniels

The point is that that tree, like that temple is sacred. Destroying the tree is the same as destroying the harmony/purity of their temple.
That's really dumb, but I mean, why didn't they just go along their way? I thought they were just cutting through. Did they stay on the property just to exercise their rights?
The point is that that tree, like that temple is sacred. Destroying the tree is the same as destroying the harmony/purity of their temple.
No, they didn't destroy anything. They were kissing, your straw man doesn't hold water.

I am of course assuming these things based on what seems most probable, but I doubt they just happened to waltz into obvious temple grounds and then just happened to ignore requests from the security guards over and over.
Well, I mean, if that's the church's rules, that's their rules. If they were just passing through I don't see why they would care so much to be told to stop and move along.
