that is A LOT of guns.
AKs usually come in crates like this: With something resembling "VINTOVKA KALASHNIKOVA" or "AVTOMATIKA KALASHNIKOVA" on the side, along with calibre, quantity, manufacturer and manufacturing dates/stamps. The crates either weren't original AK crates, or they both were idiots/blind..
Oh man, that's just so beautiful. I want a genuine AK! Regardless, how do you mess that up? "OH MY THESE CRATES ARE HEFTY AREN'T THEY?! HERE YOU ARE!"
This is what makes it very suspicious. A box of anything is going to weigh a lot more than an empty box.
he probably bought like 8 large crates and they each had a dozen or so guns in them.
moar guns on racks

Fun fact: those are 88 PPSH sub-machine guns connected to a trigger mechanism that shoots them all at once. ...imagine being the guy changing the magazine and cocking every single one?
Holy shit, what's the name of this, I have to know more!
Someone already said it. tu-2sh The only way to make it more awesome is to attach bayonets.
How much can he earn from selling it?
There probably were 80 of the rifles, but he took one for display or so. Would explain why there are only 79. Hell, if i were him, i'd take take one too.
How much can he earn from selling it?
79 of them could make him a good 30+ grand (usd) on the black market depending on the demand for AKs in his area
Still, Izhmash probably hasn't made those since the 60s.
True, but the Taliban have been known to use weapons dating back to World War 1 Battle Rifles, or even more surprising (imo), being in possession of the extremely rare StG-44 Assault Rifle. Age doesn't mean much on the black market, if you're in the right place with the right money, you can buy a gun, and to them a gun is a gun, doesn't matter when it was made or where it came from.
79 of them could make him a good 30+ grand (usd) on the black market depending on the demand for AKs in his area
Do you have contacts with the local black market? I don't think this guy does either
74M or 100 series most likely they probably were in good condition if they suspected arms smuggling. [editline]16th January 2012[/editline] They were being sold to Izhmash for scrap; they weren't being manufacturd there. Izhmash has better things to do than make AKMs

I agree.
Regardless, how do you mess that up? "OH MY THESE CRATES ARE HEFTY AREN'T THEY?! HERE YOU ARE!"
They're just "empty" crates, so he probably just pushed it off the back of the truck
Were this 79 Kalashnikovs, Strange Kalashnikovs?
True, but the Taliban have been known to use weapons dating back to World War 1 Battle Rifles, or even more surprising (imo), being in possession of the extremely rare StG-44 Assault Rifle. Izhmash would probably producing newer weapons with greater value on the black market, considering they're the leading arms manufacturer in russia. Why the fuck would they produce an older model that would sell for less. regardless article says that they were being sold to there for scrap? doesn't make sense, unless Izhmash has smelting facilities designed to process scrap metal.
With something resembling "VINTOVKA KALASHNIKOVA" or "AVTOMATIKA KALASHNIKOVA"
Vintage Kalashnikov for 2 refined
Vintage Kalashnikov for 2 refined
and people made fun of me when I said the heavy should get a DP-28
