Good to know that North Korea has such influence over us.
Weak move on their part
Oh my god, this is the Valve/Hatred thread all over again. I can't take this anymore!
It's not comparable or even relevant. One was taken down because a threat of actual physical damage and violence against real people, regardless of whether it's acted on or not. While the other was removed simply because the store disagreed with the premise.
So wait does this cancelling also affect international showings as well?
I almost can't believe this is happening. Beginning with the threats and culminating with fully canceling the film, the whole thing has been so absurd that I feel like I'm in a movie myself. And yeah, Sony really can't afford this.
Am I the only one surprised that the The Interview was not leaked? I mean they leaked Annie and Furry, why not The Interview? Oh, I guess I answered my own question.
Sony Pictures has been the victim of an unprecedented criminal assault against our employees, our customers, and our business. Those who attacked us stole our intellectual property, private emails, and sensitive and proprietary material, and sought to destroy our spirit and our morale – all apparently to thwart the release of a movie they did not like.
And you idiots just let them succeed. The correct response was always to push the movie out anyway, to give these hackers the middle finger. But no. You and the major theater chains have all buckled under pressure and given them the win they did not deserve.
Giving into bullshit like this is why we cant have nice things.
I heard it's so-so, but due to all this I kinda want to see it now. I hope Sony releases it on DVD eventually, or just brings it to Theaters after all this blows over / they realize nothing will happen.
mark my words. today its choosing what movies, and in the future north korea will be dictating our foreign policy.
Hey maybe they'll put it on Netflix next week, that'd be fine by me.
uhh idk about any of you guys but if this saves even one person from getting killed by some psycho nutjob then i'm fine with it
South Park hit it on the head
What makes that even better is that they showed Mohammed in an earlier episode. Shows how stupid these types are really.
Is there anything of value lost? It honestly should be a straight to home video movie.
BREAKING: US Official says federal investigators connect Sony hacking to North Korea
https://twitter.com/AP/status/545357991294558209
https://twitter.com/AP/status/545357991294558209
Wow no shit?
This isn't "hitting back at the hackers" this is caving into threats of violence.
To be fair the threat seemed to suggest that 9/11 would look small in comparison.. I don't blame them for being a little worried.
*Sony Uploads to Pirates Bay Check
I hope Michael Lynton is forever mockingly called titles such as "Dear Leader"
Hey maybe they'll put it on Netflix next week, that'd be fine by me.
They'll put the movie in everyone's iTunes account on Christmas Day, just like the U2 album.
Wow, this is bullshit. Unless they know something we don't, this completely the opposite of a proper response.
They should release it through the humble bundle guys where we pay what we want.
They're a business. They're holding it off until theaters reopen and they can get maximum revenue again.
Just skip theater and home release it.
The major chains said they wouldn't show the movie in their theaters due to the nature of the threats not being covered by insurance if something did happen. It'd be a PR nightmare as well considering if something did happen, they'd look responsible for people's loved ones for dying. What the fuck is Sony supposed to do?
Wow, this is bullshit. Unless they know something we don't, this completely the opposite of a proper response.
you mean the fact that NK is probably one of the scariest states? they've got nothing to lose, and they obviously don't like the interview, and made an obvious threat against theaters?
Good Movie looked like shit
Facepunch is having a hard on for confrontation with a batshit insane government. What Sony did is professional.
Is there anything of value lost? It honestly should be a straight to home video movie.
why would you say that? have you seen this movie? are you an expert on movies? do film producers email you every time they make a film, asking whether or not their movie is worthy of the big screen? thanks for sharing your important opinion on this movie you know hardly anything about. i'm glad you could restrain from letting your disdain for seth rogen and/or james franco affect your verdict. i respect you.
you mean the fact that NK is probably one of the scariest states? they've got nothing to lose, and they obviously don't like the interview, and made an obvious threat against theaters?
Homeland Security just said the other day that there is no proof that attacks like this might happen. And IMO, NK would never carry out an attack on US soil since that would be an act of war.
