Homeland Security just said the other day that there is no proof that attacks like this might happen. And IMO, NK would never carry out an attack on US soil since that would be an act of war.
What if they're insane?
If I was sony, I'd make a bunch of Kim Jong Un fleshlights and toilet paper rolls to hand out at theaters. "Clean your front and your behind with the People's Glorious Leader!"
it sucks that it was pulled but at the same time, i'm a bit glad. Seeing as i work at the biggest theatre in the tri-state area, if the group actually planned on holding attacks, my theatre would definitely be a target.
Guys, they're considering a VOD release of the film.
I'm not evenly very interested in the movie and I'd participate in that just to support Sony through this bullshit
Good Movie looked like shit
"I don't like thing and fuck freedom of expression too" All i'm getting from that just fyi.
I hate those hackers...
uhh idk about any of you guys but if this saves even one person from getting killed by some psycho nutjob then i'm fine with it
Imagine if someone said "Next time urbanmonkey posts, [insert threat here]". You'd keep posting, obviously.
why would you say that? have you seen this movie? are you an expert on movies? do film producers email you every time they make a film, asking whether or not their movie is worthy of the big screen? thanks for sharing your important opinion on this movie you know hardly anything about. i'm glad you could restrain from letting your disdain for seth rogen and/or james franco affect your verdict. i respect you.
I like Seth Rogen and Franco. They were both pretty good in Freaks & Geeks, Rogen was great in Donnie Darko and 50/50. Everything else just doesn't interest me. But I don't see what you're getting so up in arms about? Were you really going to get up for this movie? Is it going to be a solid movie? Probably not. I'm just perplexed as to why my opinion would send you to write two paragraphs worth of stuff I didnt even say, but whatever.
uhh idk about any of you guys but if this saves even one person from getting killed by some psycho nutjob then i'm fine with it
we can't let people hide in fear just because some assholes threatened people
Imagine if someone said "Next time urbanmonkey posts, [insert threat here]". You'd keep posting, obviously.
Imagine if someone said "Next time Funktastic Dog posts, [insert here], and [inset here] was a legitimate threat because ~someone~ "broke into the studio’s computer system in November and stole internal documents, email messages, film budgets, spreadsheets detailing top executive salaries and the social security numbers of thousands of employees" while everyone affiliated with Funktastic Dog pulls away for fear of [insert here]. Then imagine Funktastic Dog said "nah fuck that I want to post anyway" and then [insert here] happens. People get threatened with x, y, and z for doing whatever every day, but not on this level. It was the right decision to let everything cool off for a bit. The determined the threat to be substantial enough that it could actually happen. Do you think they would have done this, risking MILLIONS of dollars, if they hadn't?
It's a crappy situation, but I think Sony made the right move to pull the film. It's not worth the extra drama over a dumb movie. North Korea causing trouble and making threats over something so trivial just shows how uncivilized and immature their governing body truly is(again). The planet doesn't need any more bad blood over stupid shit. We fight over the dumbest fuckin' shit. This is a time for turning the other cheek and choosing our battles. I don't view this as "giving in to terrorists", it's walking away from some weird morons to focus on more important shit. Sony has a lot on it's plate right now, and the major theaters were already pulling the film themselves anyway(which you can't really blame them for). Besides, a movie glorifying assassination is a despicable thing to release on Christmas and I've grown tired of Seth fat ugly fuck Rogen.
The US should retaliate by hacking their tv stations and broadcasting the movie to NK's people [editline]18th December 2014[/editline] :v: [editline]18th December 2014[/editline]
why would you say that? have you seen this movie? are you an expert on movies? do film producers email you every time they make a film, asking whether or not their movie is worthy of the big screen? thanks for sharing your important opinion on this movie you know hardly anything about. i'm glad you could restrain from letting your disdain for seth rogen and/or james franco affect your verdict. i respect you.
To be honest all of their movies have gone down hill. Judging by the non impressive previews and correlation of movie quality I think that "this movie might have been shit" isn't completely undeniable
Aren't they going to lose like a lot of money from not releasing it?
This is such bullshit. I can't believe it. [editline]18th December 2014[/editline] Why are we giving in to their idiotic demands, again? [editline]18th December 2014[/editline]
uhh idk about any of you guys but if this saves even one person from getting killed by some psycho nutjob then i'm fine with it
Dude, they were just fighting words. If all the money the US spends on the NSA and FBI is well spent, then I'm sure both organizations would agree that there was *no* chance of them attacking a theater.
Aren't they going to lose like a lot of money from not releasing it?
Hard to say. They might lose money in the short term by avoiding a theatrical release, but the sheer amount of publicity around this movie might result in a HUGE number of sales if they decide to release it digitally.
Y'know, if aliens do exist, shit like this makes me wish that North Korea was a target for Decepticon attacks(If it was North Korea, that is). Yes this in fact happend in a Transformers comic.
I said it before and I'll say it again. You know your security is terrible when you're hacked by North Korea.
Facepunch is having a hard on for confrontation with a batshit insane government. What Sony did is professional.
They may be Batshit insane but what the hell are they going to do. DECLARE THAT USA WILL FALL like the 12th time in two years.
They may be Batshit insane but what the hell are they going to do. DECLARE THAT USA WILL FALL like the 12th time in two years.
Keep cockslapping the states because they know the states will never ignore them so long as it conflicts with their idea of a perfect world. Honestly, if you have a neighbor that won't stop annoying you but you know he's not going to do anything back besides mow his lawn at 2AM just leave him the fuck alone and don't show a response. That includes not spending your spare time making a nativity scene for next christmas depicting their house burning. [sp]That was a really strange analogy.[/sp]
One theatre decided to show Team America in its place: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/texas-theater-show-team-america-759037?facebook_20141217 I think I'll watch it myself on the 25th.
https://twitter.com/AP/status/545357991294558209
Yeah a full article is now up on CNN: http://money.cnn.com/2014/12/17/media/the-interview-sony-theater-owners/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 "U.S. investigators say an announcement pinning the blame on hackers working for the Pyongyang regime could come as soon as Thursday. "
They should really just sell streaming rights to Netflix. Imagine the amount of money they'd make off of that, especially after this level of publicity.
They may be Batshit insane but what the hell are they going to do. DECLARE THAT USA WILL FALL like the 12th time in two years.
They could fund some crazy fuckers that don't like the US as it is..
The movie should be streamed worldwide instead. Imagine it, it would be glorious. Also, enjoy, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALYw9eJ_jf0
I said it before and I'll say it again. You know your security is terrible when you're hacked by North Korea.
here's the thing about state sponsored cyberattacks the industry needed for them is relatively small building a shitton of tanks requires a shitton of materials hacking sony pictures requires much less industry
[img_thumb]http://i.bullfax.com/imgs/909d80903fcd703aa2dac236317ae494dacd189e.jpg[/img_thumb] "Uh here it is, sir, Interview_The.avi."
It's really stupid people are getting mad over a MOVIE. Going so far as to threaten if they don't remove? The movie isn't going to affect you in any way, if you don't like it, don't see it. People really need to stop trying to oppress creativity. I really hope Sony does a 180 and releases it on demand or decides to show it in theaters.
I would laugh if Team America actually profited off this.
Dallas/Fort Worth location huh? Funny thing though is that Team America would probably be a more tasteful alternative to The Interview anyways. Seriously, it just looked like it was gonna be a feature length (bad) knock off of your typical Family Guy episode filled with stale jokes, starring a couple of guys acting like jack offs.
this sentence also pretty much describes Team America, sooo (not saying I dont like Team America, just pointing out the irony)
