I've used this before. It's unbelievably fast, but the instant you want to do anything offline it's completely useless. You can grab the latest version on Hexxeh's website here (it's a daily dump of the latest version) and make a bootable flash drive or even install it if you want to see for yourself. It's another variant of Linux, just one that has been made useless for anything other than web browsing, and even then you only get one browser choice. I'm never installing this on another computer again.

I wonder how one should fill out the Unique pilot area.
I think Chrome OS would work really well in schools, seeing as everything would be based off the cloud.

It would work like shit in schools.
Need a 3rd party program? Well fuck you.
he said viable you dunce
Yes, Mac OS isn't viable.

Applied.
I applied 2 days ago. Hope I get in :)
Hah I wonder if they'll accept me even though I live in Sweden.
I understand that Google will only ship the device to a US-based address and cannot send this device to a P.O. Box or address outside of the US

$9.99 a day for unlimited data.
That's like $300 per month. $3,642.42 per year. Nuh-uh.
I also don't like this:
The company said that it hoped to be the first to ship a tool called "verified boot" on Chrome OS devices, which makes sure nothing on the machine has been modified or compromised.
I figured Google would be on the forefront of letting people modify and tinker around in their own machines.
cloud computing is retarded.
cloud computing is retarded.
Actually it's brilliant, except for the fact you're not in control of the server(s) the data is on, and still nowadays most people don't have decent enough Internet.
Hell-o the age of no private data
Hexxeh raking in anything from this? :v:

I'd imagine that would make it so that it prevents viruses and whatnot tinkering with the system. Obviously it's not ideal for those that like messing with it (though the os is still open-source anyway) but it really isn't made for that.
Signed up. Hope im one of the Lucky Few.
I signed up, too.
I used all 140 characters for why I would be a unique pilot user.

What, that is the second... What else would he be talking about?
Also, this would be good except for a few things:
1) everything would be slow as fuck goddamn unless you had a T3 internet connection. Good fucking luck playing a game that uses 14GB of hard drive space when you have to access every file from the internet
2) when you don't have internet access, what are you going to do? One of the best things about a laptop is if the power goes out, or if you're out and you don't have internet you still have access to your stuff, and you can work/play games/whatever you do on your computer
3) who the fuck wants their files to be on the servers of a company? I mean, it's all cool if just SOME of your files are controlled by a company and you wouldn't mind losing them, but the idea of every single one of your personal files being on a google server somewhere makes me a bit uncomfortable (especially since google is well known for selling their users personal information).
