...Actually it'd equal about 2 dollars and 52 cents for each citizen. I can get the gist of distributing the wealth, but I think your calculator must have a sticky 0 key.
that's like a whole hotdog at nathan's
Can't tell if you're joking or if you really do have such a passive attitude about suicide.
he was 87 gave all his cash away and didn't want to end up having another stroke and being a shell of a person, you try watching 4 relatives die a long declining death like that and your opinion on end of life suicide might change
I can understand his decision to end his life. My grandfather committed suicide (I was too young to remember) after suffering from a stroke. He was an active person before that, and after his stroke, he simply couldn't enjoy life anymore.
A fellow might come to realise that his cerebral cortex contains stories about a fellow who he identifies with, and calls his self.
But what is there to identify with anything, if you already truly are your self?
Are you truly the content of your mind, or is that simply a story painted over consciousness that you identify with?
its like a zen koan book except it sounds like it was translated in google translate
I guess this just goes to show that money truly isn't happiness.
Sure, it can make your life a lot easier (dealing with loads of financial issues at the moment), but if you don't have love or passion in your life, it doesn't mean much.

Holy shit I need to read things better. Still, I'll leave it there.
With that kind of money, I am surprise he didn't go to the clinic in Switzerland especially since "he didn't want to suffer".
He should have cashed half of it in one dollar bills then dump bags out the window before he jumped. It would have been the biggest media spectacle ever. Blood everywhere with people most likely fighting for money.
Have you guys never heard of giving yourself a heart attack from such a thing?
The man was 87 and survived a stroke, I doubt his body would be able to support the stress of whatever you feel when you jump like that.
It's not impossible to die before hitting the ground. The sheer terror you can feel from falling could easily just killed him.
Pretty someone disproved the whole 'die before you hit the ground thing'. Not saying it's impossible, but highly highly unlikely.

But it's possible to die from shock. From the extreme stress on your body/mind which could easily cause a heart attack.
It sounds to me like he made the decision to kill himself because he was falling apart health-wise and didn't have much longer left anyways, probably still suffering from lingering effects of the stroke he had experienced a few months prior. If falling to his absolution was the way he wanted to go instead of withering in a hospital bed, then well, it's a decision I can certainly see the logic behind. A "dying with dignity" sort of thing.
Really warms my heart that he donated away his fortune before he left, rather than leaving it uselessly locked away gathering dust or something. I hope this encourages other people at the top to be more philanthropic with their money.
I can understand him not wanting to suffer, but there must be better ways to do something instead of jumping off a building.
At 16 floors, would the impact kill you before the shock of free fall?
It might be a bit reckless too, what if he landed on someone? Would be kinda ironic considering his philanthropic efforts.
He should have kept a hundred million so he could buy a rocket and launch himself into the moon. Best way to die ever, pretty sure I've suggested this before

Or done a Monty Burns and used dollar coins instead :o

Nirvana is a tricky one because it's usually loaded with ideas of what it is. When it isn't.
Nonexistence, certainly.
