it's going to suck.
Am i the only one who has no idea what akira is? I thought it was something about the pornstar asa akira...
Akira is masterpiece
Tetsuuuuooooooo
Akira is masterpiece
k, and what exactly is it?
Can we like, overrule this or something? 'Redlight' it? Make a federal mandate? Something?
I could have sworn the script for this got leaked a while back and had nothing to do with the original.
Didn't it turn all of the troubled teenage leads into 20 year old guys (including Edward from Twilight), and the main villain into a creepy ghost child who would keep humming Frere Jacques? You can't really forget something that bad. I'm HOPING that they didn't keep that script. And I'm HOPING that my mind is exaggerating the details. I distinctly remember the Frere Jacques part, though. Oh yeah, and they're putting it in New York City to tie it in closer to 9/11.
The animation in Akira was amazing. The bike war scene is a great example of it: video Anyways, the live action version of Akira will most likely be shit. Movies based off of anime just do not work out well.
I liked the Live action Film of Death Note way more than the anime
k, and what exactly is it?
A story about the post reconstruction mindset of Japan and the disenfranchisement of the youth, along with the repercussions of tampering in the realm of god and ascending to become more than human. [editline]20th October 2011[/editline]
I liked the Live action Film of Death Note way more than the anime
First 24 episodes = fucking amazing. Then two characters I don't give a fuck about come out of nowhere and ruin everything.
I know this doesn't affect me cause I'll just not go see it but I'm really looking forward to the end of this trend of remaking everything that shouldn't be remade. 8 1/2, Let the Right One In, now Akira -_-
I'm just wondering how this scene's gonna end up:
I liked the Live action Film of Death Note way more than the anime
Made in Japan. The way they casted and did the movie is a lot different then how it would be done in Hollywood. Which is also why I wish a live action Deathnote movie never comes to realization in Hollywood either.
NO. No, no. It's gonna be like those weird DBZ spinoffs. Japanese adaptations usually fare better compared to their western counterparts however. Features like Initial D was ok for the time it was created. I will be surprised if they actually make a piece of art, adding to the Akira lifeline. A post-apoc, dirtcity setting with true to comic book vehicles and character styles.

bakka gaijins!! >_<''.......
...Bugger. This wont end too well, cant it?
I can't see how they are going to remake the ending. The ending is fucked beyond belief.
I'm just wondering how this scene's gonna end up:
That scene makes me cringe every time I watch it.
I liked the Live action Film of Death Note way more than the anime
Oh god no. The live action films were atrociously bad.
I watch Akira before. I remember the horrifying last part where the girl got crushed into bloody pulp and Tetsuo mutated into a giant blob monster plus the scientist was imploded in his van. Turns out Akira was actually a boy who was separated into various body parts.

I'l say the same thing i said in the last thread on this, they'll have to cut so freaking much out of the movie (because it will be pg-13) that the violated carcass wont even be worth a release.
It will be hilarious if people thought that this movie was inspired by Kanye West video.
I'm just wondering how this scene's gonna end up:
I am 99% sure this is a fetish
When I saw the thread title, I was praying that it wasn't what I thought it was.... Goddamnit why can't they leave Akira alone? Especially considering they are doing an adaptation of the anime film, which was good and all but still no where near as godly as the comic. WB is a huge douchebag

In short, It could make a compelling piece.
inb4 we get Michael Cera. :v:
HAHA My friend's middle name is Akira and he hates it. He's going to flip a shit when he see's this is a movie.

It killed whatever I had left of my childhood.
TETSUUUUOOOOO KANEDAAAAAA
That's Mr. Kaneda to you, punk!
