God, i love Akira. My father rented it when I was 6 years old, thinking it was a kids show. I't left me uneasy, and yet I loved it. Even though I couldn't understand it, I liked it :v:
Watched it like, 10 times for now. They're going to ruin it, there's no other option guys. I don't even know why they're going to keep it "Akira".

I watched it just recently and I was surprised how in-depth it was. How the heck did you make it at 6?

My father rented it at blockbuster when I was a kid, because he thought it was a kids show.
Then I watched it. I didn't get scared by it, I found it interesting. Then I reminded it later on my life and watched it again with 11 years :v:
I wouldn't mind if they just "re-did" Akira.
Aka, just reanimate it, to make it more "HD"
But this is just stupid.
That would be a bit hard to pull off, but anything's possible I guess. It'd be cool if they remade it so the mouths matched the english voices.
They could cut out most of the general bullshit that comes with most animes (cheezy love undertones anyone?) and turn it into a battle of wits between a brilliant young sherlock-type character and a supernatural Moriarty (for my lack of remembering compelling sherlock villians) and the villians degeneration into a psycopathic killer with a god complex.
In short, It could make a compelling piece.
yeah, i wouldn't be hurt if they cut misa
I'm pretty sure even the author admitted she was there purely for sex appeal
There is an interesting, unknown fact about this movie that sheds light onto the end of the movie.
When Tetsuo is mutating and Akira absorbs him into the sphere of light, the sound lyrics in the background say this:
應時普地 As soon as the Bhiksu Dharmakara spoke those verses 六種震動 the entire earth shook in six ways, 天雨妙華 and a rain of wonderful flowers fell* from heaven 以散其上 scattering everywhere. 自然音樂 Spontaneous music was heard, 空中讚言 and a voice in the sky said, 決定必成 'Surely you will attain 無上正覺 the highest, perfect Enlightenment".
This explains that Tetsuo is achieving what Akira achieved: "The highest, perfect Enlightenment". In nerd terms he transcends biological form and becomes a being of pure energy.
I anticipate this will bomb hard as fuck, having the budget of something like Mutant Chronicles or Priest and just fail miserably.
well not only will it take place in Japan it will mot likey be PG-13
