2001: A Space Odyssey
Yep cos 2001 turned out like that.
Anyone who takes anything in this article seriously is borderline retarded.
why?
Ever seen the movie GATTACA?
IBM Kittyhawk will start a nuclear war and japanese robots will take over the world. Everything in the OP is bullshit.
I want to buy a title: "Prophet of robot uprising"
I'm sorry but the idea of robots replacing musicians doesn't sit well with me, at all
Predictions like this never work.
When over 20 years into future they become terribly inaccurate.
I'm sorry but the idea of robots replacing musicians doesn't sit well with me, at all
Yeah, I don't think machines will ever be able to create art.
That's extremely debatable, but not for hundreds of years.
I hope it never gets to this point, the very thing that makes us unique shouldn't be bastardized and sold. It's just wrong, plain and simple.
Seeing how long health advances take to get to public, I will still be living when they first appear and thus I will live long enough to see 2100.
That'd be awesome If it was true
But then again, they once said we'd all have hovercars and jetpacks by the year 2000, yet here we are 11 years later...
there is actually a supposed flying car thats just going through its last stages of development and as for the jetpack ye ....
that was a fail prediction
I can't imagine any of this in Africa.
Neat, too bad I'll be dead
not me
i will become a god
The world in 2100.

I wonder what'll happen to Facepunch by that time.

Newborns could be designed to be stronger, smarter, and happier (No more emos anyone?).
wow
i hope they dont do that
[editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
i dont want to die
i want to see what happens to facepunch, the game industry, space travel and technology!!!
3. Cars are driver-less. Cars can fly or be on the road. Traffic and accidents won't happen because cars will be aware of other cars. Radars to avoid objects and people. Solves energy crisis.

How does the ability to fly or not crash into other people solve the energy crysis????
Everyone, watch this! Its exactly what people in the past think of. Also, this was a awesome history channel show!
Glad I'll be rotting in the ground before our world becomes this
For the sake of everyone in 2100 I hope this prediction is either wrong or we're all dead by then
I intend to live forever, sorry.
8. Robots will dwarf car industries. Would take care of most dangerous tasks and jobs. Most robots would be hidden from view. They would be polite, always help, and have emotions. Become our cooks, musicians, pets, etc.
I have the feeling that this won't end well...
I have the feeling that this won't end well...
Simple as this... Don't piss off your robot buddy, and you should be fine. If they have 'human' emotions then I don't get why people are going all, "Oh no end of the world!" what most likely would happen is them striking, and most likely looking for more rights. Even then they would probably just act like a normal human.
This sounds actually very depressing. Children will be made, stronger better and happier? Humanoid robots? Advanced AI, capable of mimicking humans?
I'm glad my life span is only hovering around 70
That'd be awesome If it was true

Jetpacks exist. We just don't have an appropriate propellant to power it for more than 45seconds.
The flying car is actually finishing up...
I wouldn't really want robots to be cooks or musicians, as it's much more fun to do it yourself.
I wouldn't really want robots to be cooks or musicians, as it's much more fun to do it yourself.
I think by cooks it's referring to fast food outlets.

Thats not the real reason to be concerned. Think about the gap between the wealthy and the less fortunate in the world that already exists. Now imagine what would happen if the wealthy were born immune to sickness, were physically stronger, more intelligent - success would be determined entirely by the wealth of the parents. Hell, I won't even hesitate to say that genetic modification of offspring over the course of several generations could result in changes drastic enough to make the poor and the wealthy different species (sub-species if the difference isn't drastic enough. the poor would be treated like animals not worthy of having children with).

Kinky.
Kinky.
I cannot imagine the level of pride and accomplishment the first Scientists and Engineers will feel when they announce to the world:
"Yes, You can fuck it."

Don't worry, the rich would be sure to cull the poor genes well before it got that bad
And then because the economy has no bottom it'll all fall apart again
Because when everyone is perfect everyone will be the same
And then nobody will be perfect...
I highly doubt it, more like.
The world will be overpopulated
we'll have some large advancements in computing, robotics + Space travel.
thats about it.
This. The idea that by 2100 we will have a interconnected utopia of genetic engineering and flawless quality of life and technology is at best, optimistic.
2200 is a more realistic number. Even then any sort of future predictions ultimately end up being retarded because for all we know we could hit a huge fucking stall in advancement.
