In 100 years we'll be packed together so tightly that it will be a relief to smell fresh armpit sweat.
So if robots take all of the jobs, how are humans supposed to make a living?
Of course when people (and scientists) all say jobs will take people's jobs, they do not give the economic explanation for this. Because it frightens people. The only way a robot-working world works is trough the discarding of the monetary system. When people need money to survive (pay loans to banks for cars and houses) they need jobs, which means they might have to take jobs they don't like, just so they can pay them back. When robots take over work, you can not pay these loans back.
fuck that shit, i ain't trusting my life to a machine, i can drive my own damn car
someone call in Will Smith, we need to end it now
[editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
or Sarah Connor, personally i'd prefer Will
You cannot stop the inevitable. And hey, if it drives my car without crashing, I don't care that much.
If a space elevator fell, It would crush at lest 60 Km because of how tall it would have to be...
I dont think anyone will be taking that risk.
Reminds me of those futuristic movies from the 60s that showed us in the year 2000 having fusion power, robots and flying cars.
2100 will be just like today, except everything will be more efficient and the politics would have changed up a bit. The most we could literally hope for is a manned mission to mars.
And that's the best case scenario. Really, I never understood where people got the LAZERGUNS FLYING CARS AND COMPUTER GOGGLES future from, because it's a load of shit.
A) This won't happen in a long time
B) Cynicism and Pessimism never got anyone anywhere
And you're basing this on?
World could end tomorrow and you'd never see it coming.
Oh btw, full movie of Metropolis:

Wishful thinking, there. Me too. I won't be able to make more rpg maker games. I want
my brain frozen.
there is actually a supposed flying car thats just going through its last stages of development and as for the jetpack ye ....
that was a fail prediction
The mollar skycar rides on like 4 fucking jet engines.
Somehow I don't see that working well for the layman.

Actually it would probably be in the middle of the ocean, besides space elevators are a mediocre idea.
What we need is a space cannon.
1. I can't focus on things directly up to my eye, I doubt you can on contact text?
2. The brain is electrical, we already do this in labs.
3. We already do this.
4. We know how to do this.
5. Highly likely, citing biological informational growth.
6. That's too specific, but something will combat cancer, or at least it's a very likely probability.
7. Doubting we'll all be wearing fabric laced with wiring, and there's a ton of science to be explored here.
8. We've said this countless times in the past, but I guess Watson is getting there.
9. Too specific, and a space elevator is a bit un-likely, because of pressure and how huge it'd be to stay standing.
10. This isn't a part of the future, it's part of right now?
1. The hud is projected onto the retina making it appear to float a few feet ahead of you, sort of like Isaac's hud in dead space.
2. He means on a mass scale you dolt.
3. Again mass scale, proof of concept is great but we need it to work on a mass scale.
4. See my last points, mass scale dude, there's too many people shouting about morals and ethics right now.
5. Welcome to the future, where genetic variation is so low that a chinese guy across the world is your genetic brother, and that cute girl down the street is actually your twin! Yeah this idea is fucking horrendous within two generations of this being done on a large scale then you can say good bye to humanity cause it just pissed in its own gene pool.
6. We can already destroy cancer with relative ease, all we need to do is make the treatments cost effective and wide spread.
7. Not much to say here, cancer detecting clothing is a bit far fetched but we already have chips that can detect cancers from a blood sample, it's not a major stretch to have one present in the body at all times constantly checking for em and capable of releasing targeted drugs.
8. Robots will never surpass humans in terms of music and arts, it just won't happen, it will always be seen as music created without heart and soul.
9.Space elevators could be made as soon as we have materials strong and light enough.
They said things like this would happen in the 2000's back in the 80's.
I wouldn't rule out the space elevator one, it's a well established theory of how we can build ships in space.
The building cost of such an elevator has been estimated to the GDP of a smaller country. Meaning it's not going to get built unless you get the world's wealthiest nations to participate. Are the wealthiest nations in the world going to invest obscene ammounts of money in a project that has little chance of being profitable in the near future, and has a high risk of failing? The answer is no. There is no such thing as scientific goodwill in politics.
Yeah, I don't think machines will ever be able to create art.
If the Manhattan Beach project stays on target then you're sorted, you'll end up biologically immortal.

They target to finish that by 2029, pretty damn exciting.
Simple as this... Don't piss off your robot buddy, and you should be fine. If they have 'human' emotions then I don't get why people are going all, "Oh no end of the world!" what most likely would happen is them striking, and most likely looking for more rights. Even then they would probably just act like a normal human.
It is impossible to make real AI without biology. So no
This would be fucking horrible. I'm serious. The only thing i'm interested about is the stronger infant-thing. Does this mean genetic alterations or taking the fetus and manual manipulations within the cell structure? Oh, and before i forget let me explain you WHY this would be horrible in my opinion.
So you get all this fancy tech and shit, life's good and SUDDENLY IT ALL FAILS.
Then what? You're used to that nice little hover car of yours and that robot doing everything for you. Now they're gone, fried like a ready pancake. You have no skills of your own whatsoever save for pushing the buttons. You start crying for mommy and die of hunger because you can't even cook your own food, not even boil water because you were too dependant on technology. Everything is made easy and therefore your own skills soften and rust, making you pretty much an useless couch potato. Even though your lifespan is longer in terms of age, you learn nothing and you live as if you were a big pile of shit. Look at times before. They had to survive without much technology in all the bombardment in the ruins of their old homes, maybe even leave the cities and travel somewhere else without much technology. Back then you had to grab an axe, go to the forest, hack down a fucking tree with brute force, get the bark off by yourself, piece the trunk to pieces and then start making all sorts of materials. Nowadays a machine does most of that. And how much does turning switches burn energy or toughen your body up? Little to none. DIY tho keeps you fit, it keeps you working and it makes you in my opinion a much better human being. If this technological advancement keeps going on like this, things will go bad. And i mean bad. I'm not saying they should stop researching, just that it should not be relied upon. Ever.
That's my opinion anyway. Never rely on technology too much if at all. It'll break and kill you is what it does.
If your body was replaced with technology why would you need to stay fit?
Because that sounds dreadful. Imagine if people got to decide exactly what their children were like? The world would turn to shit so quickly.
Reminds me of Brave New World. Great book, btw.
It does sound pretty awful. It doesn't even sound like we are living life anymore.
We would; To survive
Pshhhh, you guys are pussies, I can't wait to be an immortal robot overlord.
We would; To survive
Well it would be very stupid for people who make implanting memory and skills into people to not inplant skills of survival in a non-technological world, and the fastest possible way to rebuild society in case of a disaster.
We would; To survive
Living life simply to survive is one of the dumbest and animalistic ways to live your life.
What are you aiming for then?
Edit: A man can think and dream and so he can fool himself into having certain "goals" for his life even though everything is pointless in the end.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, NATURAL SELECTIOOOOOON
If we ever figure out a way to transfer energy without cables directly to devices, becoming lazy useless piece of shit thing won't happen.
Also I think Deus Ex comes closest to depicting what life will be when going towards 2100. Asteroid mining, planetary harvesting operations, robotic prosthesis, somesort of augmentation, etc.
What are you aiming for then?

Our aim should be to create our own, we should not be limited by a linear path
If they do have flying cars, it won't be available to the public. Contact lens with HUDs would be cool.
HP 100
Stamina 100
Suit Energy 100
holy shit, it would be like an FPS
Didn't they shit almost exactly like this around 50 years ago, saying it would be now? Pretty sure it's the same case here.
I hope someone cleared that up, it would fucking stink!
