Oh no, not 0.00014% of the Earth's population. We'll never recover.
39 minutes and no Madagascar joke? What is this?
Just for you. Also, not an image macro because I edited it myself.
Deadly Epidemic! Ooooooo mass casualties Oh, what? Two deaths? I'm sure more people have died this year from complications brought on by stubbing their toe. As much as I'd like Toe-Stubbing to be an epidemic that should be brought to everyone's attention.... 2 deaths is not an epidemic
A DEADLY VIRUS (that's been around for years) THAT KILLS MILLIONS (a couple hundred) EVERY YEAR. Sensationalist as fuck. By the way, the virus is called hauntavirus and it's one of the first things you learn to avoid in the Boy Scouts. Yeah.
No one gives a fuck about this kind of stuff anymore.
I'm going to Yosemite in a week If I die I'll let you know
Brb stocking up on cans of food, buying a hazmat suit, and burning all my furniture, killing any of my friends that cough and then burning their corpse Not the end of days for me
I'm going to Yosemite in a week If I die I'll let you know
This "virus" has stemmed from a campsite/hotel I've been to plenty of times called Curry Village. It was apparently from an influx of mice due to the area using double walled designs which allowed the rodents to pretty much multiply unchecked (seriously it's deer mice heaven) not to mention some of the tents being extremely filthy to begin with didn't help. Let's also not forget almost every time I went to this place there were already a healthy amount of rodents to begin with even in completely different areas. Places like the Ahwahnee are not as bad as this though and you would probably be pretty safe there assuming you don't run into people who are sick or ride in the tour buses a lot. RT being a propaganda mouth piece that it is has completely over sensationalized this in probably some bad attempt to make America seem extremely unsafe. You're seriously pretty much okay when you go to a legitmate hotel and not these "cabins." Just don't make the mistake of going in the winter and make the mistake of being in one without a heater. The people in Yosemite have done an excellent job of handling this though to their credit. Hopefully they'll finally upgrade these tents in the process as well.

First of all, This virus has been known to exist for a VERY long time. Even in the indigenous people they believed mice kept the world going, and humans and mice interacting would mean death for the human. AKA hantavirus pulmonary. And deseases that can kill this fast don't make well for epidemics, because the host has to have time to spread it. I think at least, trying to remember what the medical books told me, Though the part of the indigenous people knowing about this for a very long time is true. Also the news source never mentioned the method of contamination. All you have to do when you're there is be careful for mice, and bleach any mice droppings/piss. And don't touch them. Just remember those and your risk is much lower.
1 day ban because I forgot to leave the source. lmao facepunch mods.
I still don't see a source
1 day ban because I forgot to leave the source. lmao facepunch mods.
Next time try to find better sources for things like this. It was overblown way out of proportion. As someone who goes to Yosemite all the time it made it seem like this was going to kill everyone on earth. When the truth was that it was pretty much all in a campsite area known as Curry Village. This was more a case of poor building planning which allowed a bunch of those deer rats to multiply completely safe from the things that were supposed to hunt them. RT loves to overblow things out of proportion for many of their articles. The BBC had a nice article on this though.
The boubonic plague is back obviously
Hantavirus is not contagious.
