• PS4 rumors arise from leaked dev kits, looks like it probably is doing crossfire graphics after all

360 controller is more ergonomically contoured to the shape of people's hands. The PS controller is largely unchanged since the beginning, and needs some kind of makeover. It's got some sharp edges and a flat bottom that probably aren't on people's lists of favourite designs.
Just because enthusiasts have been unable to make proper emulators, doesn't mean that the company that downright designs & makes the hardware & software can't.
Well the PS3 just works so differently that I really really doubt Sony will be able to emulate it themselves.
I hope they also create better controllers. The current controllers are just horrible compared to the Xbox 360 ones
What? Oh fuck no, PS3 controllers are the best IMO. It depends on what you used first. My friends who'd bought a xbox first prefer that, the PS3 people prefer PS3 controllers.
Are we seriously into the best controller argument again? It always ends the same way. Besides, they are all pretty bad compared to this thing.

On the PS4 front, I'm curious to see what level of graphics they will be able to produce with this when it first comes out. It's nice, at the very least, to know that it will not be holding back PC development so much.
Holy crap A console with up to date hardware This is gonna be great
By the time it's out, it won't be anymore
By the time it's out, it won't be anymore
Well, if they do wind up putting 12-16GB of ram, perhaps not as much.
Why would they choose an APU? why not modify the FX series for more bang? Still the Bill of materials is going to be cheaper, Cell processor was expensive, AND expensive to develop for x86 means less shitty ports 16GB of ram means that in the next year my pc will be shitting its pants
Because its a cheap all-round solution and its based on proven technology, plus it consumes less power.
I wonder what the backwards compatibility would be like
I really like the PS3 controllers, but I also like the xbox controllers I don't give a fuck I just prefer the Ps3 controllers looks because it looks symmetrical mostly
The fact its symetrical is the main reason I like it, My hands are symetrical so my controller should be. [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline]
Sounds great. Not getting it because there won't be any PS3 compatibility.
You have had 6 years to get a ps3 if you wanted to play ps3 games.
If Kojima can make the FOX engine look that fucking good on PS3/Xbox. Just imagine the beauty he and his team could create with this.
Well IF they did 16 GB RAM I suppose they might use a ramdisk, but I still would rather it be 8 GB.
Holy crap A console with up to date hardware This is gonna be great
Won't it release in 2 years or something? won't be as up to date by then.
Even 8GB RAM would be pretty unnecessary, but if they did it well they could load a ton of stuff into RAM and after the initial load there would be no loading times. That would be pretty rad.
If they're using an APU, they'll have to share RAM with that. That explanation goes some way, at least.
The PS3 launched with Microsoft breathing down Sony's neck and Nintendo stealing the spotlight from everyone. They were in a bad place back then. This time Microsoft's still dicking around with Kinect in an attempt to imitate Nintendo and seems to have no interest in next-gen anything, and Nintendo's next-gen console has gotten a more normal amount of hype. A much more comfortable place to start, if you ask me.
Problem is Sony could have easily made a fantastic first few months with the Vita but the thing sold terribly and they pretty much have dropped support for Vita games. Like half of the games on the Vita are on the PS3 so there is really no reason to get one.
Even though I favor PCs, this really sounds awesome. And I'd be happy if it would really be able to compete with computers because we could raise the limits given by the actual generation. This in return could mean that we can finally get more awesome games.
On the topic of controllers, I've played PS1 and PS2 to death but bought a 360 controller for PC and I prefer it so much more. It just fits in my hand so naturally. While I don't mind PS controller, I much rather use a 360 one.
16 GB ram isn't all that useful and the money could be better spent elsewhere (8 GB better) I just hope they don't cheap out on the graphic cards.
In five years someone will quote this and call you an idiot for holding back PCs.
Video memory is the PS3's biggest problem. That is why there is usually a terrible lack of AA in most PS3 games and they don't run at full res (1080). Give the PS4 2GB of video memory along with about 8GB of RAM and magical things will happen.
but at that time enthusiasts were able to almost perfectly emulate ps2 games. and later ps3 had software emulation.
it still had the PS2 CPU. The original mode that didn't use software emulation had both the PS2 CPU and PS2 GPU
it still had the PS2 CPU. The original mode that didn't use software emulation had both the PS2 CPU and PS2 GPU
Actually, it had a PS2 GPU.
Any console nowadays would not need 4GB of ram. 8GB? Catch yourself on.
Any console nowadays would not need 4GB of ram. 8GB? Catch yourself on.
Multiplayer games? [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] Not only that, it could be sharing main RAM and VRAM
Pepper;38289140']Actually, it had a PS2 GPU.
oh so they removed the PS2 CPU and kept the PS2 GPU in the software emulation one still same concept, software emulation still required some PS2 hardware
it still had the PS2 CPU. The original mode that didn't use software emulation had both the PS2 CPU and PS2 GPU

Pepper;38289140']Actually, it had a PS2 GPU.
Actually. My european launch 60 GB ps3 doesn't have either hardware parts. 100% software emulation. You guys need to stop stating shit as if you know it's true, when you obviously don't. This is the shit that caused Christianity. "Hey guys! Gravity only exists if you don't believe in ghosts!"
only the US launch ps3 had hardware emulation [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] IIRC
Actually. My european launch 60 GB ps3 doesn't have either hardware parts. 100% software emulation. The chip has written on it: CXD2972GB. Do a bit of homework and you find that it is the Graphics Synthesizer from the PS2. They never had full software emulation, only partial. If they did have full software emulation then we would be playing PS2 games on the slim models.
The emulation it had is most probably extremely broken anyway wich results in slowdowns, graphical artefacts and etc.
so yeah European PS3's still had some PS2 hardware
The emulation it had is most probably is extremely broken anyway wich results in slowdowns, graphical artefacts and etc.
The EU models emulation was pretty hit and miss yeah.
Any console nowadays would not need 4GB of ram. 8GB? Catch yourself on.
IIRC cryteks wish list was for 4-8gb ram.
