What is this game even, is there a demo or something to try out?
Dark souls, a really good game however the PC version is the most console porty console port ever (locked resolution, Xbox buttons for menu options, horrific camera controls)
Dark souls, a really good game however the PC version is the most console porty console port ever (locked resolution, Xbox buttons for menu options, horrific camera controls)
Still a really, really good game.
Ive only ever bought one thing from Games for Windows Live and that was the Age of Empires 3 collection for 50p (bps)
50p? Pah! I got it for a 10p.
Dark souls, a really good game however the PC version is the most console porty console port ever (locked resolution, Xbox buttons for menu options, horrific camera controls)
While the port is disappointing, it was ported after console release and only because of a petition by fans. Since DSfix makes it run quite nicely I'm willing to forgive them since it was about as rushed as a port can be.
don't tell that to bethseda fanboys!
Bethesda games function. But not much else.
Welp, guess I won't be playing Dawn of War 2 any time soon.
One shouldn't have to modify a game to make it fuction properly like it should have in the first place.
I agree, but if it's "apply simple patch" or "game is broken to the point of being unplayable" then that's a pretty easy decision for me.
They should update GFWL, when you start it, it auto uninstalls the program now.
Which would be good if not for the fact some games totally require it.
I agree, but if it's "apply simple patch" or "game is broken to the point of being unplayable" then that's a pretty easy decision for me.
I know I know, but it doesn't excuse a game from being a shitty port out of the box.
Its hilarious that Microsoft has ignored Games for Windows Live. There just like "what never heard of it lolz" You literally cant do anything on that damn software anymore.
I agree, but if it's "apply simple patch" or "game is broken to the point of being unplayable" then that's a pretty easy decision for me.
putting up with shit like that is exactly one of the reasons why devs don't even care about making proper PC ports
Reminds me of Halo 2 Vista. Getting it to run in some instances of Windows 7 requires it to be the first- - AND ONLY GFWL game installed. Why? For some reason, on random computers had you installed another GFWL game, it refused to run unless an otherwise unrelated and empty folder in System32 was deleted. If that folder existed, it just crashes on startup with a generic error. Delete it/Rename it? Runs fine. I recall reading a thread where a guy figured out the fix for it, if I recall correctly he was just fucking around with Windows folders until it magically worked.

I just played Fable 3 and it worked just fine. Is it only for certain games?
GFWL is horrible, i've had game saves, literally being lost completely because my game crashed, i have no idea how it happened, it just... did, damn microsoft.
Games for Windows Live lags all the games I play that use it like crazy.
I bought my sister Dead Rising 2 complete pack with the intention of playing COOP with her. That was during the christmas sales and she still can't play it because of GFWL. It just refuses to let her create an account.
GFWL being a steaming pile of shit? This is news?
I once spent something like 30 minutes messing with firewall and router settings trying to get GFWL to work and then realized it wasn't working because the Windows Live browser login screen accepted nonstandard characters (#,&, and *,etc.) and the in-game login didn't.

I have never had a problem with GFWL
when i was moving from windows 8CP to Windows 7 i backed up my games in case, including gta4 when i got everything sorted and went to play gta4, it deleted my progress even though i have the data files and the cloud sync turned on for GWFL, its a fucking joke
I got a keylogger on my system a while ago and the hacker (who was a stereotypical romanian hacker, who was stupid enough to use his email and I found his steam account instantly) decided to change my password and email on my Windows Live account. Eventually I got my account back, but due to Windows Live bugs, I can't change the email so i'm stuck with lsd-alin from now on. Oh and due to some Games for Windows Live bug, this means I lost all my GTA 4 save data, so I have to start again, which I can't be bothered doing since the campaign is so long and I was almost done. I actually found the save, but the stupid system doesn't recognise it.
Piracy increased by %15 - Microsoft blames the pirates
A friend of mine had this happen the other day when we were about to play Dark Souls. He reported the error code as 80151909 If you put that into http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/error-code-lookup the error is listed as "failed to download profile" - so between us we figured there could be a desync between the locally cached copy and the server profile. And sure enough, clearing the locally cached copy fixed it. This option is hiding in the GFWL Marketplace application: 1 from the bottom. If you have a different error code though, this may not fix it.

"First we thought it would be a breeze, but it's turned out not to be the case. We're still developing right now - we're crunching right now."
Dark Souls wasn't a "regular" lazy port, though.
I was having problems with fallout and some other games a few days ago, but it started working again, thankfully.
I don't even understand how a company with that many programmers in the same place can fuck up a program so royally it deserves its own shit crown.
I lost my Dark Souls savegame because GFWL suddenly did not accept it anymore. :c
50p? Pah! I got it for a 10p.
Actually, i think it was 10p.
