Paul Walker's daughter files wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche
96 replies, posted
This is just a money grab based on this perceived leverage with a future jury: He burned to death! OMG! and sympathy for the daughter he left behind.
So her legal team thinks Porsche would rather settle this case and make it go away rather than continue to see this in the news for years until the case goes to court.
Dumb bitch needs to understand that tires are consumables, not the fault of the company if you don't maintain your car.
I do think what she's doing isn't very smart but going "DUMB BITCH WHAT DOES SHE EXPECT GOLD DIGGER" is a bit overboard, there's better explanations for irrational behavior like this when someone is grieving like their emotions getting in the way and trying to right what she perceives as a wrong. Doesn't make her right of course! But it's best to not dismiss things so easily like that, humans and motivation can be far more complex than just "She's greedy!!"
She's using the same excuse that anti gun ppeople do.
"It's too fast, it doesn't belong on the streets!"
It's only fast if you make it go fast, just like a gun isn't dangerous unless you make it dangerous.

This, and the fact that she's more than likely using this to get free money is why I think she's being stupid.
A 16-year-old traumatized by her father's death and all you can do is call her a money-whore bitch
What's wrong with you people, I agree that this doesn't seem right but you guys are fucked up in the head

Calling us mentally unstable is a little far. Who's saying she isn't using this for free money and 15 mins of fame?

yeah this, I think people are seriously underestimating how much one of your parents dying when you're like 14 years old will affect you. I'm not saying this lawsuit is valid but I'd much more likely lean on the side of her just being severely traumatised than her trying to profit from her father's death.
Calling us mentally unstable is a little far. Who's saying she isn't using this for free money and 15 mins of fame?
because she's a already famous rich child from a extremely famous rich dad who had extremely famous rich friends???
Seriously what is up with these 'dumb moneygrubbing gold digger bitch WHORE' replies?
Even if you think she's totally wrong, there's plenty of precedent for companies getting sued if they knowingly sell dangerous products without adequate safeguards, let the court decide whether it was user error or an unsafe design at fault. If it's as open-and-shut as you all seem to think then she's not going to get any money, so why get worked up over it?

That's what I'm saying
"Dumb bitch"
"Moneygrubbing whore"
wow, this is a 16 year old kid who lost her father.
maaaaaaaaaaaybe she isn't in it for money (considering she almost positively already has that) and is actually genuinely concerned over the safety of the cars and the lives at stake
fucking moneygrubbing whore
Edit:
Walker left his entire $25 million estate to 15-year-old daughter Meadow
Yeah pretty fucking sure she's not moneygrubbing
ya'll need to chill out and quit with calling the kid a bitch and a whore. she lost her dad for fucks sake. let the courts decide if this is valid. i'm sure they can decide without you guys acting like you know everything there is to know about the situation just because you're distrusting of a 16 year old for some reason.
she's already fucking loaded anyway, so what the fuck kind of 16 year old would greedily seek out monetary gain for her own damn father's death? she most likely is seeking justice, that's all.
What should happen in court:
That's one of the things I loved about that car, honestly. I adored how it, in an era where everyone was freaking out about nannying electronics and safety this automatic that here comes this modern day muscle car that's just 'Hey, here's a stonking huge engine, a couple seats, four rubber donut-shaped things, a bit of class, some corpse retainment straps. Go nuts'.
Also applies to the Corvette.
Money grabbing whore? The article doesn't even specify what she's seeking. Where does the term whore play into any of this?
The article doesn't even specify what she's seeking. Where does the term whore play into any of this?
Well the only thing she could get out of the whole thing, is money. Porsche can't give her back her dad, so it's pointless.
Yeah screw this stupid 16 year old dumb bitch
Are you capable of negatively referring to a woman without using the word bitch?
Well the only thing she could get out of the whole thing, is money. Porsche can't give her back her dad, so it's pointless.
So with that logic all wrongful death lawsuits are pointless.
Are you capable of negatively referring to a woman without using the word bitch?
Wasn't very clear but that was in sarcasm. I was judging the guy I quoted.
I posted up a few in defense of her.
Well the only thing she could get out of the whole thing, is money. Porsche can't give her back her dad, so it's pointless.
For all we know, she could be pushing for even tighter quality control and safety features in future models.
After the accident, investigators concluded that unsafe speed and not mechanical problems were responsible for the crash. That car’s tires were also aged and in poor condition.
I'm sorry, but how fucking dumb is she?
By this logic, she should blame the owner of the car. Most people change tyres on cars that are worth a tenth of what the Carrera GT costed about once a year/every 2 years.
But here, the tyres of a fucking beast on wheels weren't changed. It's the same as using the same sneakers for an extensive period of time until their sole starts flailing about, tripping and falling over, and then blaming the brand for making bad sneakers.
They aren't bad, you just took an item in poor conditions to the extreme, and payed the price for it when it failed on you.
I can spin and fuck myself on my shitty car aswell, which isn't even worth 1000€. Is it Opel's fault if I die? Fuck no! It's my fault for having shitty tyres and for basically "stretching my luck".
For all we know, she could be pushing for even tighter quality control and safety features in future models.
bullshit
If she was, she would understand the problem isn't the car itself. The problem was the idiocy lying in the idea of using a high performance car with bad tyres in all the wrong ways.
Heck, another example... By this logic, every person who drives fast and causes an accident, could blame it on the car brand saying it was the car's fault they caused the accident in the first place.
For all we know, she could be pushing for even tighter quality control and safety features in future models.
There's no such thing. Same reason you could purchase a Yamaha R1 or a Ducati Panigale without having to go through a mandatory 3-month course on how to operate a superbike and without having to memorize a 1000+ pages long disclaimer about how dangerous any of those bikes could be, if not operated properly.
Instead, people like you and her (now deceased) father could just show up to the dealership, pony up, fill in the paperwork and within the hour, you'd be riding home on a brand new 200+ HP crotch rocket. Whatever happens, it's on YOU and YOU alone. It's your (and his) responsibility to be careful with it, it's called "being a responsible adult".
There's nothing she can do to change it, she should really accept her loss for what it was, a terrible accident.

That's why you see so many videos on youtube of people fucking up fast cars.
Most of them seem to be show offs who can't handle wheel spin, and think its a good idea to floor it when turning somewhere.

Well that's because they treat them like toys and not with the respect they deserve. Nothing we can do to change that, idiots will always be idiots, no matter how many warnings they give them.
Hell, think about it - we're surrounded by the most obvious warnings on how to operate even the most simple things, like "do not reach the lawnmower blades when it's turned on", that most people become numb to them, so it's no wonder people like her father had less regard for safety.
That doesn't change the fact that supercars, or modified cars, are not to be trifled with.
So when is the lawsuit against the family of the guy who crashed the car going to happen? Pretty sure he was more reaponsible for Walkers death than Porsche was.
On that note, the early gen Vipers (1st and 2nd, IIRC) shared pretty much the same reputation of the Carrera GT - I keep reading how much of a wild beast it was, a complete exercise in restraint. Give it more throttle than you wanted, and it'd bite you right back in the ass.

I guess Dodge should be thankful he didn't die in one of these instead.
That's part of why people get these cars, they're not meant to be driven by someone inexperienced, their designed to be brutally unforgiving, to be a challenge to drive, and reward you for knowing what you're doing and not fucking up.

You and I understand it, but try to explain that to this girl. Looks like her father kept her away from his hobby, and she doesn't "get" the appeal to cars and everything that comes along with them; meaning, the thrill of driving fast and what could happen if you're not careful enough.
On a side note... the original Viper is the true successor to the Shelby Cobra. Killer looks, killer power, killer pedigree, killer of drivers! :v:
A 16-year-old traumatized by her father's death and all you can do is call her a money-whore bitch
She got more money in inheritance than I'll ever make in my entire lifetime and yet here she is filing a frivolous lawsuit and seeking ridiculous damages for something that's entirely 100% the fault of the driver her father was riding with.
Any sympathy I had for her vaporized the instant she submitted those documents to the court. This crash was 100% poor driving skill and poor maintenance skill on the part of the car's owner and operator. Porsche is 0% liable for what happened that day and trying to seek monetary damages from them for it is nothing more than trying to capitalize on a tragedy while hiding behind the 'woe is me my daddy died I'm still traumatized and need all these greenbacks to soothe my tears' banner.
I'm sorry, but no. I ain't buyin' it. Call me cold and heartless if you want, but I don't accept that the trauma from losing her father two years ago would make her sue the wrong entity now for monetary damages. It's a money grub, plain and simple.

I didn't know you personally went to the crash site and investigated the scene
[editline]29th September 2015[/editline]
And were such an expert at psychology
she most likely is seeking justice, that's all.
If that's what she's after she's going to the wrong place. Porsche did nothing wrong with the construction of that car and is not liable for what happened on that stretch of road.
The party that is liable is lying in a wooden box beneath a few feet of dirt right now.

You know the idea that a company is not at all responsible for user error has been considered unacceptable by consumer protection agencies for decades, right?
Don't let your kids eat lead toys. Don't throw lawn darts when other people are around. Don't drop your loaded gun. Never touch exposed live wires. These are all sound pieces of advice, but they don't absolve the product designer of responsibility for a flawed product, hence why they've all resulted in product recalls.
The test in court is whether a similar design could perform the intended purpose equally well without the attendant risk. If the court finds that the car in question was unsafe due to design flaws that could be easily corrected, then they might side with her.
I think that's unlikely, I think this case is probably a clear-cut situation of user error, but you and others here can't summarily dismiss any claim that these cars are unsafe with essentially a flippant 'well don't crash then'. That's not how this works.

Personally, the way I see it is very, very similar to someone fooling around with a gun and shooting himself in the head, then having the family filing a lawsuit to Colt "because the gun doesn't have enough safety switches on it".
Sorry, but... no. You fuck around with a gun, you can get seriously injured or *killed*, there's no othe way to put it, and gun manufacturers are not responsible for how people treat their products.

Again, I'm really sorry for her loss, but this is not going to help her.

and I'm sure a sixteen year old girl whose father died when she was around 14 completely understands the nature of vehicular quality control
She's likely grieving, she likely wants to place blame anywhere but with her father or the other man that lost his life. This is the sort of way an undeveloped mind will attempt to rationalise. Misguided? most definitely. Malicious and money hungry? Doubtful. As others have said, she's very financially secure
