like 60% of the time i'm trying to sleep i'll fucking like "wake up" after maybe being unconcious for like 5 minutes, and i wont be able to move and everything just gets fucking loud and im like scared as shit for no reason really and then I fall asleep
it's actually pretty terrifying i dont fuck with it
I've always wanted to experience sleep paralysis just to see what it's like.
imagine being completely immobilized, to the point of not even being able to move your eyes. imagine trying to move or look around, and being unable to. whenever you try to move, it feels like you're almost moving, but you're not. like, think of a soul inside you trying to leave your body and then snapping right back into place. that's pretty much what it feels like. it's accompanied by extreme panic and sometimes hallucinations.
I wonder why sleep paralysis is always so terrifying. I've never experienced it but all I ever read about are horror stories.
For some reason, whenever I have a nightmare or any other intense dream, my actual body moves with my dream one. This has caused me to sprint down my stairs, eyes closed(I am legitimately surprised that I didn't hurt myself).
I have never even heard of Sleep paralysis before this thread. Wow that sounds terrifying. Does it happen when you wake up, or what? I wonder why it doesn't happen to me, probably because I sleep so deeply not even a slap to the face would wake me up, and I can never recall any dreams ever.

That sounds crazy and extremely rare.
The worst I get is dreaming about tripping and instinctively trying to catch myself.

Or when you're right about to fall asleep and something "hits" you and you freak out and jump.
Scariest shit getting sleep paralysis
I used to have sleep paralysis at least once a week when I was under 15. They were scary when they happened, but now when I think about what I saw and felt during them, it was quite fascinating.
I have never sleepwalked, but my sister told me I would sometimes start talking in the night, and that I was very polite and understanding during our discussions. :v:
Once, as a kid, I woke up in a freezing cold bath in the middle of the night.
Cause I was a young kid, I just assumed I was there for a reason and quite happily waited until my mother came in like "wtf are you doing?"
I used to sleep walk, now i just wake up suddenly from punching or kicking something... its a sore way of waking up.
You can learn to control that REM, keeping you mind awake and keeping the body to sleep to see and hear stuff that never happend, then get to a lucid dream.
I've done this plenty of times accidentally, it usually involves me getting up to turn off my alarm and I notice 5 seconds later that I never did it.

Fuck you it's terrifying, happened three times in sucession, thought I was going to die.
I've had sleep paralysis so often that it isn't even scary anymore to me.
It is however very fucking annoying.

I had it once, was confused, then I woke up, and I actually kinda missed it :v:
if only I could self induce it for at least 15 minutes without any issues.
hmm, do you know / feel whats happening around you when your sleep paralyzed? If not, anyone remember anything when you had it? what do you see and feel etc?
First time i hear of this sleep paralysis.
The only things that happens to me when i dream is i find my self drooling, catching my self, and first hanging and then falling from the wall ( very often i dream about this) the wall does in fact exist IRL.
Oh and when i have a fever, i always dream the exact same dream, First a little girl screaming and then a woman opens my rooms door and sticks her head inside the room, after that my vision starts zooming, like stuttery / Lag.

I love that. I also wish I could induce sleep paralysis, you people probably find it claustrophobic and trapped but I would find it an interesting experience.

when i got it i was lying on my back and could open my eyes but couldn't move any other part of my body. I was pretty young and there was a chair that always looked like a guy wearing a suit so i was convinced that he broke my neck or something. was actually fucking terrifying and probably the most scared i've ever been or will be
holy shit no it isn't. it's fucking terrifying
After you've had it a few times you start to enjoy it, I did at least.
Or when you're right about to fall asleep and something "hits" you and you freak out and jump.
Happens to me nearly every night now. Feels like a pillow to the face.
the brain is so weird
i can safely say this hasn't happened to me
Reading this reminded me of the time my Mum climbed into the cupboard in her sleep. When Dad asked what she was doing, she yelled "Don't be so obnoxious, I'll beat you up!"
I hate it when I am about to fall asleep, then I hear a sudden BZZZZZZZZZP from my imagination or some shit. Gives me a heart attack every single time.
It's really cool to induce sleep paralysis.
Fuck no it isn't, got it once when I fucked up an attempt to lucid dream.
NOT FUN.
I have some sortof sleep paralysis, or "sleep-scare" would be more fitting. Every few months I get wild panic attacks and start screaming on the top of my lungs and doing shit (according to my parents who of course rush in asking what the fuck is going on)
They keep asking me whatever it is I could possibly "dream" about that gets me these panic attacks, but I can NEVER remember anything of what I was seeing, I usually wake up in the middle of a panic attack and wonder why I'm sitting up and what the fuck is going on
Thats a rather interesting topic. I had an interactive dream once but that was it.
Now all I have is this annoying thing when you are almost falling asleep and suddenly you get a feeling of falling down and you fucking wake up.
I've had sleep paralysis too, i thought i was going to die
I couldn't sleep properly for a year after that, it was truly terrifying.
I've had a few times when I'm just about to fall asleep and my legs just spasm insanely and I make myself wake up.
Also fell off the bed once because of that.
From what i read, the best way to avoid sleep paralysis is to sleep on your side and Not trying to lucid dream.
A week ago it was like 7am and apparently something in my dream made me kick like fucking a donkey which proceeded with me kicking everything off my night stand :v:
Sometimes my body thinks it's freefalling when I'm about to sleep so I shock, it's really weird and I can't really explain it. I'm fully awake after it happens though.
What does sleep paralysis feel like?
