If Palin becomes president... America's seriously fucked :downs:
Okay. So tell me again, how is it logistically possible to get rid of 250 million firearms in the US? Ontop of that, I don't think you're thinking of the effects banning guns would make. Crazy redneck militias bombing govt. institutions. Because of this they would have to get homeland security in on it and homeland security would have to shoot the militias who are US citizens. So many fucking people would die over nothing and the ban would most likely only make gun crimes a lot worse.
Oh, those 250 million guns would immediately go to where all the drugs went when they banned drugs, into an illegal dealer's hands, where he would give it out to people who had money and needed guns. With no checks to see if their clients are criminals or anything of course. Then those criminals are the only ones in society with guns. That'll end well.
No no I don't think you understand sir! If you ban guns they will magically disappear :downs:!
Well that's just silly. The best option is to ban the triggers on the guns so the triggers disappear and they can't fire them anymore
Well that's just silly. The best option is to ban the triggers on the guns so the triggers disappear and they can't fire them anymore
Because clearly criminals will abide by the law and take off their trigger on their gun. I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not :derp:
Because clearly criminals will abide by the law and take off their trigger on their gun. I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not :derp:
Of course it's sarcasm what the fuck
Okay. So tell me again, how is it logistically possible to get rid of 250 million firearms in the US?
That's someone else's problem
Ontop of that, I don't think you're thinking of the effects banning guns would make.
That's someone else's problem
Your argument just failed
What was my argument again?
I'm pretty liberal but I like the option to have guns. The most control I'd put is not selling to people with a history of crime or mental instability.
That's a pretty extreme scenario but if you say it'd happen then surely it must
Are you implying that militia uprising would be extreme if guns were banned? We'd be lucky if that's all they did.
Canada doesn't let you just walk into a store and buy a gun and it's citizens are doing just fine. You don't absolutely need guns.
That's someone else's problem That's a pretty extreme scenario but if you say it'd happen then surely it must
That's a pretty mild scenario you are dreaming up of, if you say nothing'll happen, then it surely must. The government suddenly attempting to confiscate 250 million legally bought items is not going to cause a lot of unrest of course!
Canada doesn't let you just walk into a store and buy a gun and it's citizens are doing just fine. You don't absolutely need guns.
No, you don't, but banning them would not solve anything either.
not selling to people with a history of crime or mental instability.
they pretty much already do this. [editline]07:58PM[/editline]
Canada doesn't let you just walk into a store and buy a gun and it's citizens are doing just fine. Ugh, stupid Palin!
That's a pretty mild scenario you are dreaming up of, if you say nothing'll happen, then it surely must. The government suddenly attempting to confiscate 250 million legally bought items is not going to cause a lot of unrest of course!
Actually I don't think it needs to be a sudden confiscation of all guns at once. [editline]11:00PM[/editline] But that's someone else's problem again
Actually I don't think it needs to be a sudden confiscation of all guns at once. [editline]11:00PM[/editline] But that's someone else's problem again
Okay, so you live in Finland. Have most likely never been to the US and probably have some weird dream of it being a gun danger zone. When in actuality, despite what statistics would probaly make someone think, in my life I have only seen one or two people open carrying a firearm in public, and I have never ever witnessed a guncrime. In the 9 years that I have lived here I have only heard or maybe one or two gun crimes. That's including the three towns in the area, not just a small town. ( I also lived in Texas for 7 years and never saw someone who wasn't a police officer carrying a firearm in public ) However, crazy redneck militias who hate the big bad guvment do exist, and a small uprising would be extremely lucky if that's all that happened. A lot of innocent would die due to the banning of guns and criminals would still have firearms. There would be the biggest firearm blackmarket in history in the US most likely. Not to mention, there is literally no effective way you could go about banning firearms in the US.
they pretty much already do this. Way to not counter any argument in the thread
Some guy was saying how some people can't defend themselves without a gun, I was just too lazy to quote it.
Actually I don't think it needs to be a sudden confiscation of all guns at once. [editline]11:00PM[/editline] But that's someone else's problem again
Agreed, they would be stupid to do it all at once, but for the government to start confiscating anything at all on such a widespread market in america would cause a lot of redneck anger (And personally I don't take that as a bad thing, if someone confiscated my items, government or not, I would be angry.)
If Palin becomes president... America's seriously fucked :downs:
Palin pretty much killed any hope of McCain getting elected back in '08. I doubt that she would even have a snowball's chance in hell in '12 before getting laughed out of the campaign.
On the contrary, it is you who seems to hold a belief that everyone there needs a gun to protect themselves from random gunmen.
What? Yes I would much rather own a firearm when they are readily available to criminals but not law abiding citizens. I'm not paranoid, there's a huge difference between paranoid and prepared. Are you paranoid if you bring a first aid kit on a camping trip? Are you paranoid if you wear your seatbelt?

Ban guns and you basically remove all those regulations and you just need to go to your nearest illegal gun dealer to get a gun with no background checks or anything at all. Of course you can do that now, but there's not that big of a market for illegal guns because...most want to get it legally. Make them illegal, and the illegal market will boom like it is doing in the stupidity that is the war on drugs. Buy it legally and you have to go through several legal hoops to make sure you are a respectable citizen that has no criminal record.
Outlawing guns takes away freedom for many people. Also, for the conspiracy theorists, they need something to rise up with when the G-Men come knocking.
