• Palin says Obama would ban guns if he could
notice how all the people in countries better than yours are against guns and learn something
That's subjective.
You can't casually walk in and kill someone with a sport, paint or friends. Yes you can use some club to beat someone down, but that is substantially harder and requires a whole different mental state to actually go through with it. With a gun it can be a spur of the moment thing, all you need to do is pull a trigger.
You appear to be under the misconception that being near a firearm of any sort makes any completely sane person have a mental breakdown and go nuts shooting at everything. It's also possible to casually walk up and kill someone with your own two hands; why don't we just ban those too?
Zombiefreak, Perfumly, I love you guys. I'm glad facepunch isn't as anti-firearms as I thought it was.
i've yet to see someone murder someone else with action figures, And as sported, if a 14 year old kid comes to school wielding a knife or a golf club, at worst 2-3 teachers will jump on him and restrain him, although if a troubled kid from a gunfreak family choose to buy a military grade firearm for a "quick" trip to school...
Minors aren't legally allowed to possess firearms unless they are being supervised by an adult so your argument is void.
People don't need a lot of things. That's NOT the point though.
Why are you comparing simple everyday things to firearms?

"No they don't!" "Yes they do!" "Nuh uh!" "Uh huh!" None of this is the point, someone please put up an intelligent answer of how it would be feasible to ban guns in america and why the hell it would stop gun crime. There have been arguements for why it wouldn't time and time again, and I would love to hear the other side's intelligent opinion.
Its funny cause if Palin does run for Pres then the democrats will waltz back into office.
Why are you comparing simple everyday things to firearms?
The right to bear arms is guaranteed by the fucking second amendment. That means anyone who wants a gun may have one as long as they have no legal disqualifications. No ifs or buts. That's how it works here.
But a person could take a car and run it into a school But a person could take a knife and kill kids in a school (ala china) But a person could illegally obtain a gun and still shoot up a school while law abiding citizens get fucked. Let's just ban everything sounds reasonable
But someone is MUCH more likely to shoot up a school than to take a knife or something. Anyway... My opinion on this subject: I do NOT think they should ban guns. What they should do is make the firearms test extremely hard to pass. Before you get a gun, they should check your record for any criminal activity. If you have done any (rather moderate) crime in your life, you should not be able to get a gun. Guns are okay in good hands, but when they get in the hands of some asshole they turn fucking terrible.
Guns are pointless if you're not using them for hunting. I'm very anti-gun but I'm also against banning them because they've been around for so long at this point that we'd never be able to even get close to getting rid of them, and the people that really wanted them would still be able to get them. There is no doubt in my mind that the US would have been a much better place had they been banned or at least heavily regulated (to the point of civilians only owning hunting rifles) a long time ago though.
Also, tell me: What was the club's original purpose? A golfclub could easily serve the same purpose as a club a fucking caveman would use. Probably more effective though.
I'm sorry but this is a pretty retarded analogy. A golfclub is designed to hit a golfball. You can not argue that. A gun is designed to be a weapon, you can not argue that. You can try to say "Oh oh oh but you COULD use a golf club to kill someone!" all you want, but that doesn't change what it's intended use, and therefore what it is best at. I could use a gun as a hammer to crack walnuts, but that's obviously not what it was made for, and me trying to claim that that would be a logical assumption to make would be completely laughable.
notice how all the people in countries better than yours are against guns and learn something (though quoting Heroms, not directed to him)
So wait are you telling me that all these countries are good because they have banned guns? Because the UK and Australia are so much better than the US. (I know Australia doesn't have a full gun ban, but it's hard to get guns there.) South Korea has very restrictive gun laws as well. What a prosperous country!
The reason why fucking columbine was such a big deal was that it happens so fucking rarely.
civilians only owning hunting rifles
I don't think you understand how a firearm works. Most "civilian hunting rifles" pack a much heavier punch than an M16.

Everybody here that is anti-gun that doesn't have it through their fucking head that almost all criminals DO NOT legally obtain guns needs to. Badly.
You appear to be under the misconception that being near a firearm of any sort makes any completely sane person have a mental breakdown and go nuts shooting at everything.
I said that it would be easier to build up the courage to do something while carrying a fire arm rather than a golf club or the like.
It's also possible to casually walk up and kill someone with your own two hands; why don't we just ban those too?
Yes but again, it's not as easy as with a firearm, you'd also hesitate killing someone who's a foot taller and stronger than you with your bare hands while with a gun it's no problem. People feel tough when they're holding guns, I've heard countless news stories where a robber or someone would have a gun with him thinking they're not going to use and it's there just for protection, but then do end up using it just because of how easy it is to make a threat go away.
Hey guys you can also kill someone with a golfclub/baseball bat we should just start banning sports 2
You could kill someone with fists, feet, teeth/mouth, we should ban ourselves
But someone is MUCH more likely to shoot up a school
China has had like 5 school stabbings in the last month
I don't think you understand how a firearm works. Most "civilian hunting rifles" pack a much heavier punch than an M16.
They also aren't fully automatic or easily concealed. You can't walk around town with a hunting rifle hidden on your person.

If you are mentally unstable in any way shape or form, or have a criminal record, you should not be able to own a gun. Fortunately all of those laws are in effect, if you are on a sentence longer than a year, you can't own a gun. Mental disabilities? Can't own a gun.
They also aren't fully automatic or easily concealed. You can't walk around town with a hunting rifle hidden on your person.
What the fuck.
Yes but again, it's not as easy as with a firearm, you'd also hesitate killing someone who's a foot taller and stronger than you with your bare hands while with a gun it's no problem. Have you ever killed someone with your bare hands and with a gun and compared the differences? If not then your arguments are invalid.
Are you a psychology major? Have you ever killed someone with your bare hands and with a gun and compared the differences? If not then your arguments are invalid.
Bloodthirstiness does not matter on what tool you're using.

What a prosperous country!
I thought you already established that you're not taking my arguments seriously in this post:
Ok like I told the last guy. Tell me if you have a way to ban guns in the US that is logistically possible and I might find a way to take your arguments seriously
And you'd be right in not doing so because it was a joke
They also aren't fully automatic or easily concealed. You can't walk around town with a hunting rifle hidden on your person.
Most people don't own fully automatic weapons. What's your point about the concealability? If someone wants to conceal a gun they'll use a handgun.
Guns aren't instant kill buttons. Your average kid couldn't waltz into a school and start killing people. He'd be much more effective with a knife than a gun if he was untrained.
China has had like 5 school stabbings in the last month
We're talking about the US.
They also aren't fully automatic or easily concealed. You can't walk around town with a hunting rifle hidden on your person.
Yes because your average joe can legally obtain a fully automatic weapon or conceal a firearm. And because an M16 is easier to conceal than a hunting rifle.
