antidepressant drugs that may give you suicidal thoughts
what
There's a huge distinct difference between Illegal substances and Antidepressants. Yes, Antidepressants can cause more suicidal thoughts (doesn't mean they always will) but that's why it is so important to follow up with your provider and let someone know if you are experiencing those symptoms. The overwhelming majority of people who take Antidepressants benefit from them when taken correctly and as prescribed.
That's sadder than if drugs WERE involved...
Sadder because he definably wanted to end his life, but better in the sense at least it wasn't some quick irrational decision caused by drugs or alcohol and it was his own sober decision.
I mean, plenty of people who wouldn't usually go far enough to commit suicide do so from the effects of drugs or alcohol.

I wouldn't say better. If in his sober mind he still thought that suicide as the answer to whatever he was dealing with, that shows he was a lot more sick than if he just committed suicide while under the effect of mind altering substances.
he will be missed, I really hoped for him to appear in some more movies :(
well he had antidepressants in him
antidepressants can be a life saver, or push people closer to the edge of suicide (i've seen it myself)
I'm unsure of the effects it has on me, never gotten to take them that long, but that's always perplexed me
that's like having a polio vaccination that has a chance of giving you super polio
ive never experienced depression before, so i'm unable to understand what you were going through; but im getting this looming feeling in my head like ill be forced to go through it someday
is depression something you can will yourself out of? is it even possible?
From my experience no. Depression isn't something that's possible to just "will" away. It's always present inside you, waiting to take over your thought processes at any time. You can feel like you're enjoying life one second and then an unbearable wave of sadness/anger/apathy can just overtake you with no rhyme or reason.
For me at least it comes in waves; which is all the more frustrating because you cannot logically figure out what caused you to feel so sad because depression doesn't always need a reason to ruin your life.
EDIT: I have all the most respect for Robin Williams. While I hate the fact that he decided to end his own life; I can understand the feeling of just wanting to put a stop to the mindless mental agony.
antidepressant drugs that may give you suicidal thoughts
what
Surprisingly common - I'd say a majority of antidepressants do this. It's not really a side effect of the drug, it's just that when you finally feel like you have the energy and motivation and willpower to actually do something, it might lead you to suicide.
everything is terrible
yes i would much rather find out he died from a drug induced delusion than a planned and pure act of his own will

People who take antidepressants are generally depressed and depressed people are statistically more likely to commit suicide than non-depressed people. It skews the numbers. It's extremely rare that someone's suicide is "caused" by the antidepressants - it's far more likely that they simply didn't work.

I don't know about that. When I got on 20mg of prozac it sure as hell made me suicidal feeling. 10mg? I was fine. 20mg? Suicidal feelings would kick in about two hours after I popped the pill.
To say the least, I cold turkey'd that shit fast.
Wait, Robin Williams is dead?
There's children in Africa worse off than me that don't commit suicide, so I have no reason to. Right?
Yes, right. That's a good comparison point.
"What reason could he have for suicide?" was actually a stupid thing to say by me, but the answer's also not as simple as "he was simply suffering from depression."
He had children from multiple marriages, he was a drug user, and who knows what nasty little life's details you could find from his life's story, which brings us about to the real reason why he committed suicide. It was likely done out of shame.

I don't think you understand what depression does to you.
I don't think you understand what depression does to you.
Depression in most cases has good reasons behind it. Chemical depression with no other reason will make you feel bad but I doubt it would cause suicide. Mental depression on the other hand. He had a lot of bad shit going on in his life which probably caused depression which only strengthened his shit feelings until he could no longer bear it.

Considering I am from Finland I was inherently born with the disease.
