Race jokes are easy, it doesn't mean the reason she's singled out is race, you wouldn't suggest the same if it was McCarthy and fat jokes. Although McCarthy has a better rep which we all know LJ had the worst which is what I was saying
If people were attacking McCarthy (I don't know who this person is, by the way) for his or her obesity, then it's fair to say... people are attacking him or her for his or her obesity. [editline]19th July 2016[/editline]
Seems like it by posting fake tweets
So what does this mean for Milo? Don't think there is anything about creating fake screenshots and unintentionally starting shit.
You don't think it's at all possible for people to call someone they don't like fatty while trolling without actually hating fat people? Anyways, Anyone got a clue what this was in response to? Too early to be for those screens [editline]19th July 2016[/editline] It seems he posted a review on Twitter accompanied by a WHO YOU GONNA CALL? WEIGHT WATCHERS! And a crude drawing of McCarthy. Leslie said she reported him and then he proceeded to troll her personally, inciting his many followers to hop on We're both wrong, it's not racism or because of how shitty she is that got her targeted, it seems to be because she took the bait, quite ironically it WAS McCarthy who was originally the target
I get the impression that you care a little too much about what people say about you on thet internet, similar to Mrs. Jones here. You shouldn't. If someone went out of his way to harass me on my Fb/twitter/etc, first I'd be flattered to even provoke that kind of attention in someone, secondly, I'd tell him to fuck off, along with report+block. No one is persistent, so after a while, he'll get the message and get bored/move on to someone else, while I'm out there enjoying life, hanging out with friends or doing whatever. Contrary to what most people believe, internet should not be taken as "serious business". The other thing you mention eventually may come down to semantics, but for me, it's just harassment, regardless of the medium used. When someone does it over the internet, it's now "cyber" harassment.
And online harassment, in the forms as, say, revenge porn, libel, blackmailing, is illegal. So that's that. I mean, I get it. Not every stupid statement on the internet deserves attention from lawyers or the police. But that doesn't mean you can go as far as you want online and not fear legal repercussions.

Lmao
She's got a severe case of the mads. Just walk the fuck away. There's no point in arguing with trolls. It's like mudwrestling pigs. You both get covered in shit and the pig likes it.
redletter media said that she is the only tolerable performance in the entire movie
Leslie Jones: "[slurs, sexism, hate]" Internet: "[slurs, sexism, hate]" Leslie Jones: "waah guys, I'm getting cyberbullied!" Her being black/female/famous doesn't give her the right to be an asshole to others. If she has the right to behave this way towards others, then others have the right to behave that way towards her.
Yo dog if a black woman calls you a sexist pig and your response is "fuck you you big lipped coon" you're not any better.
There was a kiwifarms thread about this, I never realized just how horrible most of the users there are. Until now it had always seemed that the forums were used to observe and discuss embarrassing public behaviour, but I've seen their true colors now I guess. Here's a link to the thread https://kiwifar.ms/threads/with-ghostbusters-bombing-leslie-jones-loses-her-mind-trying-to-expose-haters.22646/
You do realize, the kiwifarms regularly harassed their targets, right? It's the best part of the forum imo Also, this lady needs thicker skin
giving a platform for trolls is literally the worst thing you should do she doesn't deserve half that shit but she played right into the fake tweet nonsense
Well, it depends a bit. Some people (like @Nero and (ironically enough) the woman heading Social Autopsy) have really good people skills and can actually counter-flame efficiently. Jones evidently does not, unfortunately. [editline]19th July 2016[/editline] She appears to be extremely hit-and-miss in her replies, with a lot of them being stock insults.
nice :downs:
Does she know how to spell? Something just seems off about the bottom sentence
Does she know how to spell? Something just seems off about the bottom sentence
nothing really wrong with her spelling, more or less just the grammar of the sentence. I know a lot of people who say "they was" instead of "they were", just a way of speaking for some people.
[img_thumb]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cns0gVFUAAATKvy.jpg:large[/img_thumb] nice :downs:
It's a bit funny because Armoured Skeptic and Shoe0nhead gave a relatively positive review of Ghostbusters. Yeah the tweets are terrible, but she is handling things in the absolute worst way.
anyone trying to justify this harassment is disgusting
Is this really necessary?
It's shit that this happened, but did she really have to go out of her way and respond to them without taking like, half a minute to do some research on how these people operate and what was actually going on ? She basically just slammed her face right into a bear trap and then acted surprised when she got stuck in it.

A concept that seems difficult for people in this thread to understand. Most people don't spend half their time shut inside reading 4chan where shit like this is thrown around on a daily basis.

Is she supposed to google "how to deal with internet trolls"? You don't get desensitized to the internet by having someone tell you that people in it are assholes. Facepunch keeps forgetting we're a minority. To most normal people, racist, sexist comments online are just as racist and sexist as they are in the real world
I don't understand how people in this thread can't fathom the idea that some people aren't tech savvy. She's 47 years old for christ sakes. My mom is around that age and she's probably less tech literate than Leslie Jones. She's not some technology savant. She's a lady with a twitter account. All she knows is that 100s of people are hurling vitriol at her

How is she going to "take half a minute to do some research"? Is she supposed to google "how to deal with internet trolls"?
Thing is, she should have been given some "social media training" by Sony's PR team, in how to handle Twitter. Twitter, like all social media, is a fickle beast. If she doesn't know how to engage in light-hearted conversation with some fans, and how to diss the nay-sayers, then I don't really blame her entirely, I put the blame squarely on Sony. Of course nowadays, everyone oughta know how to handle social media, but even if she can't be bothered to learn how to navigate Snapchat's UI, then the Sony PR team should be there for her, so that things like this don't happen. Take for instance, Chris Pratt's Instagram. He engages with fans the proper way, and mostly shows pics of him going outdoors, hanging out with fans and doing mundane stuff.
Thing is, she should have been given some "social media training" by Sony's PR team, in how to handle Twitter.
Everything makes so much sense now
Everything makes so much sense now
Considering how poorly she handles Twitter, I'd say it's the first time she's in contact with tons and tons of people over the internet.
I really need to quit my work as a student and just brand myself as a corporate social media expert that can teach seminars to famous people how not to feed trolls.
I really need to quit my work as a student and just brand myself as a corporate social media expert that can teach seminars to famous people how not to feed trolls.
I'm kinda thinking about the same thing. Been on the internet since I was 14, I have over 18+ of experience. Wondering how do I put myself out there, though... :v:

If no one in her professional entourage took the time to tell her how to handle PR and social media, then Sony is at fault for not doing so. If she really was that oblivious about what she was going to see on the internet then all the people in charge of PR over at Sony fucked up pretty significantly. Putting her on a pedestal like she did nothing wrong is dumb. She handled the situation poorly and she's partly at fault for not knowing how to handle PR when that's part of her job description.

I expect Sony to teach their actors how to handle PR both online and IRL. They're a business and part of a business is good representation of your company and your employees. Having people appear in your movies and then throw them out to the wolves without even making sure they can handle this sort of pressure is irresponsible and idiotic, both from an ethical and financial standpoint. It's a PR nightmare waiting to happen and a huge potential loss of profits in the case of the director going insane and insulting his potential viewerbase. Also "ignore rude people" is generally speaking good advice even in real life, this isn't something that's exclusive to the internet. Except on the internet if you answer back there's a lot more people waiting at the corner to jump on you, which is why big companies should teach their most public faces (actors, directors and whatnot) how to handle social media and not go on twitter meltdowns such as this one or the rants the director's been going on before.
Didn't milo/@nero incite this
It was /tv/. I was on when it started yesterday.
Holy shit she ended up reposting furry porn what the Fuck
You're not defending racism, you're defending racist behavior by trying to give these people a shred of validity when claiming that they're not shitting on her in the name of racism.
tbh most of them probably are just using racism as a way to get to her because they know it'll work
