• Leslie Jones (Ghostbusters actress) leaves Twitter after trolls continue to harass her vigorously
Gan literally worded his posts as if it was her fault so what are you even saying? Do you not know what it means to "basically slam your face into a bear trap and then act surprised when you get struck by it?" Also yeah its totally not blaming the victim when you say she should have done research on random trolls on the internet. Like you definitely didn't cross the line when you went from "Yeah, I really wish she knew how to handle internet trolls. They're a bunch of dicks" to "She basically kept walking into a pole and wondering why there was a pole in her way"
I do not agree that your interpretation of Gans post is accurate in it's intent. As far as I can tell, Gan was attributing fault to her in a situation because she reacted in a way that caused it to get worse, which is true, she did react in a way that didn't help solve the situation, she in fact fed into the situation making it worse. I think if you asked Gan straight up "Was it her fault trolls came after her in the first place" he'd say no.
Who is actually defending it though? Why do you feel the need to put those views in my hands, and other posters hands? Why is it okay to make me a "Victim Blamer" for the sake of argument when I'm blaming the trolls? How is that good for SH or discussion in general? Rather than respond to anything in my post, you turn your nose up at it and insist that's not the issue to reiterate your own point again You're not here to listen, you're here to tell everyone else what to listen to
On just the very first page we have: The classic Tyler the Creator Defense Welcome to the internet classes on how to deal with mass harassment? Being harassed?
It's selective
Clearly you weren't even there for the discussion because that wasn't the point. Please stop making assumptions. Might I remind you of the post that you made a few posts up?
The issue, as I see it, is the willingness, and speed at which posters here denigrate each other, and generalize their views into a far more abhorrent version of those views for the sake of argument. What I see, and what I'm guilty of a long with the rest of you, is taking relatively normal statements and running those into the fucking ground to prove how much worse of a person the other person really is. I don't really want to see that continue, and I think part of that is everyone has to stop it, which includes people like yourself where you don't see yourself as playing into that at all

Where was that attitude when someone said something about me finding her repulsive
If axelord was saying shit like "she deserved it" or "oh it's not racist, they hate her because of non racist reasons" then I would've pointed out that axelord is in no position to try and justify a movement. "Clearly you don't endorse your own behavior" is implying that an remark is somehow harassment, which it isn't. Its a stupid remark but far from harassment. The only situation where I would ever bring that up is if that guy was being shat on on twitter for having bad teeth and axelord was justifying it because "Oh they're not shitting on him because they have bad teath, it's because of [whatever political alignment wheres a cuckservative t-shirt]."
On just the very first page we have: The classic Tyler the Creator Defense
Applicable because she's on Twitter and ended up doing exactly that. Didnt deserve the bullshit, but she could've left Twitter when it started. Again, she fanned the flames instead of leaving the house. Its pointing out that this happens to other people all the time, she handled the situation very poorly, and that it might be better if people were told how to react in these situations. You straight up changed what he said. He didnt say this was a "welcome to the net you fuck" it was a "maybe we should do a thing." Please stop.
Being harassed?
No, that was a "i dont have sympathy for someone talkin shit to get shit talked on because she said some stupidly sexist nonsense." Not a "she deserved it." Not "flat out" it more of an implication that can be debated. Stop please.
They're literally the same fucking thing if you included the last part in, which you decided to leave out for some reason. "She deserves it" is the same as
Yep, no pity. If you're going to throw sexist slurs and rude behavior, I'll have nothing but a slight sense of satisfaction from seeing it splash back in your face. She deserves every last bit of what she's getting. Fantastic karma.
He has no pity and he thinks that she deserves it.

She deserves every last bit of what she's getting. Fantastic karma.

Hold up, i think i missed that, yeah thats actually kind of fucked. I was trying to make a point about intentionally misquoting people. woops.
People are making fake tweets of the woman just to fuck with her. That goes way beyond saying "lol jigaboo." But whatever, I'm the asshole. I'm wrong. I'm putting words in people's mouths. I ate baby stew last night.
I wouldn't say it's her fault she's being trolled out her mind but she poked a bear tweeting "king of trolls" Nero to talk shit about his review. She clearly was unaware of who it is but it seems that's where this started
Despite the fact I think this is an extremely shitty movie, I actually like the actors that were attached. Though the chemistry doesn't seem there, individually all are excellent. The script is just beyond awful, but that is no reason to even call them bad actors.
People are making fake tweets of the woman just to fuck with her. That goes way beyond saying "lol jigaboo." But whatever, I'm the asshole. I'm wrong. I'm putting words in people's mouths. I ate baby stew last night.
You did put words in peoples mouths but then you react like that to having done so? Is it so much to just say "Oops I fucked up my bad" rather than cling to whatever pretensions of superiority you are? Yeah, the people who made fake tweets and did that kinda shit are in the wrong 100% in my opinion. Saying that doesn't mean that any further action Leslie takes is kosher, it simply means she isn't at fault for the situation starting. It does mean that she has played a role in continuing it. Is it wrong that I think peoples actions play a part in how others react? I know when I was bullied, giving the bullies the attention and reactions they wanted never made things better? Does that change with the age of the bullies? You were insistent that bullying continues into older ages, and I don't disagree with that, but kids or adults alike, they both play a role in how they react to what they're getting from those people.
Hold up, i think i missed that, yeah thats actually kind of fucked. I was trying to make a point about intentionally misquoting people. woops.
And if you look at his next post replying to me expressing shock for such a statement.
Leslie Jones: "[slurs, sexism, hate]" Internet: "[slurs, sexism, hate]" Leslie Jones: "waah guys, I'm getting cyberbullied!" Her being black/female/famous doesn't give her the right to be an asshole to others. If she has the right to behave this way towards others, then others have the right to behave that way towards her.
Same thing but without the blatant "she deserves it". And an presumed overexaggeration of what she's saying. I'm bolding and underlining presumed because not one person gave me a post pre-breakdown (post-breakdown too would also be good tbh) by Leslie Jones that actually justifies the amount of racist remarks (aka what she said about men is equal to ape comparisons and other bullshit) and general hatred she received. To me, her taking part in Ghostbusters doesn't justify these remarks at all. Someone brought up "an eye for an eye" but this feels like "two eyes, two ears, and a tongue for an eye"
People are making fake tweets of the woman just to fuck with her. That goes way beyond saying "lol jigaboo." But whatever, I'm the asshole. I'm wrong.
I wouldn't say it's her fault she's being trolled out her mind but she poked a bear tweeting "king of trolls" Nero to talk shit about his review. She clearly was unaware of who it is but it seems that's where this started
If a two-year-old child pokes a snake with a stick and gets bit, do you laugh at the child and call him an idiot and say it was his fault for being such a fucking retard? Leslie Jones obviously isn't a regular internet user. Most of us are completely desensitized to online harassment - but if my mother or my grandmother or someone like that started getting harassed online to this level, they'd probably be in tears for hours and freak the fuck out. Most people who aren't heavy internet users - like a forty-seven year old actress and comedian - don't know that the best way to end harassment is to ignore it entirely. It'd be like telling a kid getting bullied in real life to just pretend it doesn't happen. Most people can't do that. Once you've spent years having shit thrown at you on the internet, you don't realize it anymore, but for the average person - especially someone almost 50 years old - each and every one of these anonymous insults are deeply personal. Plus we're all hiding behind some degree of anonymity - if someone started harassing me on my personal Facebook account or Twitter account, I'd probably freak out a bit too. Plus Milo's a human garbage fire.
Because I totally blamed her, how the fuck did you miss literally the first statement Edit: Fucking strawmanned hardcore then compared her to a baby
I wouldn't say it's her fault she's being trolled out her mind but she poked a bear tweeting "king of trolls" Nero to talk shit about his review. She clearly was unaware of who it is but it seems that's where this started
Nero is such an irresponsible twat it's like he's gulliver, twitter's liliputia and he's not taking into account any of his actual power. Twitter is deficient by design like how are you supposed to say anything when you're able to become a god to 1000's of people who will then interpret your words. What a shithole. Forums or anonymous message boards are the only solutions.
She's apart of a movie that makes fun of men, happens to be kinda fucked when you mention that because she's a women she has to enjoy her shitty movie she stars in.
The movie doesn't make fun of men. not sure where you got that from.
Gosh, such a frightening lack of empathy
This is how most people work, dude. They're shitty animals who don't care what happens to anybody else, and all they care about is that they're getting their needs and wants met. Americans especially are bad with this culture of narcissism we foster and promote. They don't care until, that is, that they're the ones who are on the receiving end of the abuse. Then it's a whole other story... "show me pity and mercy, guys"...

Not to mention Paul "men aren't funny, dwi" fieg made it [editline]19th July 2016[/editline] And started all his self loathing shit ranting about this movie and it's criticizers

My assumption so far hasn't been that the movie is sexist towards men, but that the writers are idiots who didn't think much about what they were doing. It's that "Never attribute to malice what could more easily be attributed to stupidity" (or however it goes) quote. That being said; I haven't actually seen the movie yet so don't take my opinion too seriously.
It seems like all but Leslie's are super competent characters. Sure ones practically a necrophile, and Melissa McCarthy rarely ever escapes the fat loser girl trope, but Leslie seems to be not only the single one that's not a scientist but also a caricature of racial stereotypes. Her career is based on acting like that but still.

This is one terrible PR disaster if I've ever seen one. For a "really great comedian" as her twitter description put it, she really does not know how to react to a bad crowd, huh?
