Imagine if shit like this was contagious to humans.
Just imagine some guy climbing up onto a tree and melting, and then other people eating him.
Do you have a molting gene?
...a baculovirus that can infect these caterpillars and cause them to engage in reckless, even suicidal behavior.
I'm not sure if this is The Happening or a zombie outbreak.
make a virus like this for wasps, wouldnt mind seeing a hive of them melt away
For mosquitos, ticks, and hornets too.
They're zambies.
Suicidal zombies would be the best kind of zombies.
"Breaking news, Tom! Today at 11:34 AM at this convention center, a zombie outbreak began, spreading to hundreds of convention center attendees in a matter of minutes. Local law enforcement agents say there's nothing to worry about, as the infected individuals have all climbed to the highest point of the convention center and then proceeded to jump off."
Hey guys did you know viruses aren't technically living beings?
True story. They can't currently be classified as life because one of the primary requisites for life is the ability to independently procreate. Viruses have no internal method of procreation, they can only reproduce by hijacking the reproductive systems of other organisms.
I learnt that while i was gone

I always thought the thinking of them as like computer viruses actually makes more sense.

Mosquitoes are very important for bats and other animals, but I'm pretty sure ticks and hornets don't do much.

Hornets are predators, they kill other bugs many people consider pests.

Hm. Well, I have a crazy phobia for insects, especially bees/wasps/etc. I would love to see them all die. My friend once stepped on a hornet's nest, shit was a nightmare. I occasionally have bad dreams about it.

If they all died then we would all die though.
