• US executions on hold due to lethal injection drug shortage

Life sentence costs less than lethal injection, lethal injection was even banned for a few months in several states cause some were paralyzed instead of put ''asleep'' What if the man is innocent, guess what you can't set a body free. And would really stings me is the brutalization that takes us back to uncivilized times, are we really one bit better if we just kill them off. And for all you capital punishment enthusiast, the most ''humane'' way to die is in a pressure chamber. I don't know the specifics but it brings you into a sleep which slowly stops your heart, it's completely painless. No clue about the costs though. [editline]02:13AM[/editline]
And you're sure of this due to your extensive medical knowledge?
He's sure cause if you've bothered to watch the news sometimes you would've known.
He was. A straw man is an argument that the opposing side did not put forth, no one he was arguing with ever said that the actual lethal injection costs less than imprisonment. He was arguing against his own construction, not any true argument.
oh okay I thought by saying he was arguing against a straw man you meant that I was using one
Huh, isn't potassium chloride the main ingredient of this stuff:
Why don't they just pump them with some morphine instead? It's basically the same thing, high enough dose, which is not much, will knock them out just like the Sodium T.
Slowly dip them into acid while playing Dont Stop Me Now by Queen. 5$ a ticket. ... oh come on... you know you'd go. Plus profit! $-$
death sentence? What about eye for an eye makes the world go blind
death sentence? What about eye for an eye makes the world go blind
Ghandi. :)
death sentence? What about eye for an eye makes the world go blind
And eye for an eye renders two people without depth perception.
Pfffttt hahahahaha What? Are basically telling me that keeping someone in jail for a long period of time, all the while paying for all of his needs such as food, water, even entertainment costs less then one needle injection? Ha.
yeah that's almost exactly what he's saying except, and I'll bring this up again, the expensive part of executions isn't the execution itself, it's the legal ramifications of executing someone yes, it costs quite a bit less to imprison someone for life than to execute them read this if you don't believe me just a little snippet
* Using conservative rough projections, the Commission estimates the annual costs of the present (death penalty) system to be $137 million per year. * The cost of the present system with reforms recommended by the Commission to ensure a fair process would be $232.7 million per year. * The cost of a system in which the number of death-eligible crimes was significantly narrowed would be $130 million per year. * The cost of a system which imposes a maximum penalty of lifetime incarceration instead of the death penalty would be $11.5 million per year.

If there's gonna be a death penalty, may as well go all out instead of this "humane" nonsense. I bet a nice 5.56x45mm cartridge is cheaper than a syringe full of sodium thiopental anyways.
why do people who say this always feel the need to say the type of bullet and all that crap?
why do people who say this always feel the need to say the type of bullet and all that crap?
Cause size matters, dont you ever let a woman fool you into thinking it doesnt. Also, id rather be shot with a .50cal to the head then a 9mm. Soooo much more badass
I think everyone who commits serious crimes should be kept alive, forced to work, and offered the opportunity to kill themselves if they so desire. That's the only real humane way to deal with them if you ask me. Maybe it's just me, but the thought of having to live the rest of my life in prison is worse than the thought of death. I would much rather take my own life than be subject to that.
I agree. Those who've murdered (not in self-defense) or done other serious crimes deserve life sentences, and should be forced to work. Like you said, the idea of rotting in a hellhole like a prison would scare me far more than death.
I just think its a horrible way. Strapped to a bed whilst you watch a needle deliver the dose, tied down. I personally disagree completely with the death sentence unless the case is extremely bad. murderers, child abusers (rape and disgusting things like that), kidnappers? If there was anyway to go I would shoose beheading as its quick 'n' clean.
Yeah but its what they deserve for the sick shit that they do.
I agree. Like you said, the idea of rotting in a hellhole like a prison would scare me far more than death.
Think of it this way, being worked hard for the rest of your life, or ending your life, to were you will never be spoken to, told to do anything, you will be forgotten, no one will care. Sure that will eventually happen to those that stay in prison all their life but atleast they have a chance to crack a joke to each other prisoner and live the rest of their life, have thoughts, and personal time. Its the End, when it's a lethal injection, its the world's way of saying you have fucked up so bad, you will no longer be able to live.
All this argument fucking comes down to is whether or not you think murderers, multiple people killers, and serial rapists deserve to live, something they took away from their victims Sounds bad I know but that's how it is

Maybe other people aren't as fucked up as I am and haven't seen what happens when an animal is beheaded, but it's entirely the opposite of clean. But some people are too sensitive to this and don't fully grasp what it is that rapists do, so they think it's "inhumane." It is sort of uncivilized, so a civilized alternative would be to just put them in the lowest quality maximum security prison cell possible. One where it's just four brick walls, no toilet, no bed, and minimal meals twice a day. And just leave the fuckers there for the rest of their lives, living in their own filth.
i was gonna try arguing about this but really why bother all you blood thirsty morons never change your mind. just remember we don't live in the dark ages anymore eye for an eye isn't exactly "normal"

No matter how much smarter we are our human nature will never change. An eye for an eye and the lust for revenge in general is a socially acceptable thing to think. It's not going to change anytime soon if at all.
Huh, isn't potassium chloride the main ingredient of this stuff:
You have to use an acid to make a salt. Potassium chloride is a salt and so is sodium chloride however their effects are completely different. Sufficient potassium will fuck the heart up good. It's incredibly important in heart health and that is why people with heart disease are advised to cut down on potassium-rich foods such as bananas.
tell me what does executing someone actually achieve?
1 less brutal child rapist/murderer.
1 less brutal child rapist/murderer.
and one more stain on the face of humanity.
If I had to die, I would want to die on edge of blast radius on nuclear bomb. So I would survive the shock waves and could watch the parade, but the radiation would kill me in minutes so it wouldn't be that bad.
1 less brutal child rapist/murderer.
assuming that was the crime and assuming they weren't wrongfully convicted of course. but hey, what if, bear with me now, we placed the offender into some sort of rehabilitation program and helped them to become a productive member of society??? then we not only have 1 less brutal child rapist/murderer, we have 1 more contributing member of society!!!!!!!!!!
Pff nah man we should just kill em it's easier right??
not only is it easier it certainly helps me when i masturbate to my revenge fantasies and makes me feel like i have some sort of moral high ground too!
1) Buy Hospira 2) Stop manufacturing the drug 3) Stop inhumane killing of other humans 4) Profit to mankind Someone should totally buy Hospira. Heck, Trump probably has enough money left after his stupid investments to still buy them, and Bill Gates is always looking to do something for humanity.
and one more stain on the face of humanity.
you're a couple of thousand years late on bitching about the corruptness of humanity pal.
