2100- "And this is the statue of the six brave men and/or women who started the founding of Mars"
With the small number of people that actually care about space exploration and colonization, they'd be heroes, yeah. To the unfortunately massive majority of the world population that doesn't give a rat's ass, well, not so much.
Surely they can't be serious. None of you can. What's the point of inhabiting a huge dusty old planet Mars with a group of like 10 people at the cost of God knows how much?

What's the point of going to the moon? What's the point of exploring the ocean? What's the point of advancing technology? All these things can be argued by cost, but you are missing the most important thing of all. Human Discovery We will never advance if we keep thinking with our wallets.

They stay there long enough and do well enough and we might find a way to bring them back. Or they become prosperous enough and build a thriving little town thing and more people are sent, aaaaaand we start the Martian Civilization. And then? Colonization Golden Age.
well I'm bored right now so yea sign me up :v:!!

I hear the stuff's lying around in PILES over there. You go to Mars, hang around for a few months shoveling gold into sacks, and go home filthy stinking rich. The company funding the colony gets a cut of the profits, but not so much that the people who are going will notice. It's BRILLIANT I tell you! EDIT: Have a cookie if you get the reference.

It might fool the people on earth into coming to mars and start another space race for martian gold!
I would only go if they planned on bringing a complete backup of the internet and every videogame ever
I would only go if they planned on bringing a complete backup of the internet and every videogame ever
That's kind of sad.
well, for multiplayer and communication, couldnt they just make a wifi hub on mars? [editline]24th March 2013[/editline] Lan and crap
Naw, they could just start the coolest(and longest) lan party to ever grace humanity.
"Do you wish to be the part of the first LAN party on Mars in history? - Make history today! Enlist in joining on a mission to Mars!"
