i don't get why this got so many disagree ratings.
the confederate flag is currently a hot topic and known pretty much any american with even the most basic history knowledge. if you were to show someone the al qaeda flag or the isis flag to some shmuck on the street would they be able to identify it?
because unless you want to interpret this as walmart saying "fuck the confederate flag but ISIS we cool fam" instead of someone who didn't know what the flag looked like making the cake without questioning what it was (like it said so in the article btw) i don't think there's much of a story here

Even if this is true, Wal-Mart told their employees not to make confederate flag cakes. So...do they have a little poster up akin to a "DO NOT SERVE" sign for their employees that have symbols of (currently forced) controversy? Why is it just the confederate flag? The article is just another highlight of the hypocrisy of all the Confederate Flag banning when pretty much no one has ever REALLY cared this much about it before since the fucking civil war.
well walmart recently banned sales of the flag so yeah even if they didn't have a poster someone told them they couldn't do it anymore. it not like the employees refused for the hell of it, it's company wide policy atm
"even if it's true" i'm not even making it up. the literally said the employee didn't know what the flag looked like
How closed in must you be to not know how ISIS flag looks like? Seriously now.

i don't know how it highlights it though? The associate made a mistake and didn't recognize the image. It's not like they went "We're totally cool with ISIS, fuck the confederate flag!!".
there is no controversy here

it has dildos and buttplugs right?
How closed in must you be to not know how ISIS flag looks like? Seriously now.
I'm sure that I've seen it before, but I wouldn't have been able to describe what it looks like offhand, or recognize it if I wasn't given context.
I am kind of surprised that it didn't make the "do not bake these cakes" list, but I'm going to bet that there aren't many people who ask for ISIS cakes
someone out there is more offended by the confederate flag than people who are actively currently killing thousands with a worse ideology than the confederates ever had
that or just didn't know I mean either way
More Americans have been victimized by hillbilly racist hicks than ISIS so of course one symbol has far more recognition than the other.
Looks like he was planning to have an explosive party.
I could order a cake depicting a flipped over plastic humvee that's been blown up by a roadside bomb with toy soldiers caked in red frosting scattered around it, and they'd make the fucking cake.
Somehow I doubt that Walmart would fufill this request
The whole Confederate flag thing is because people have their heads up their own asses at the moment and are desperately scapegoating to avoid facing actual issues. It's been serving as a nice distraction from the class warfare angle, though. Has raised up the ire between members of the underclass nice and fiery. Wouldn't be surprised if it's used as platform for the 2016 elections.
Okay, I'll bite. What's the class warfare angle on this? Because the reason why this is happening is very much due to racial issues, not class issues
what does that writing on that flat translate to?
what does that writing on that flat translate to?
There is no god but God (at the top), Muhammad is the messenger of God. (in the circle)

Lets be fair, most people can't even identify flags of different countries, they're not exactly going to identify the flag that ISIS uses. And at the end of the day, it's not the flag of ISIS, it's a flag ISIS uses. The black standard has existed since WAY before ISIS was even a concept.

That and most people I know that work at Walmart get all their news from Facebook and People Magazine.
"killing are men and boys"
Tsk tsk, bad form, ABC News.
gotta hand it to ISIS, they'd rightfully behead the editor for that mistake.
Maybe they just had loads of black icing and just figured they may as well use it up before it expires.

Okay. You know how there's been this whole thing hovering overhead in general about how the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and it's been creeping into politics as a sort of unifying thing and how Bernie Sanders has found unprecedented support despite openly being socialistic?
Well, the Confederate flag thing turns the underclass against itself. It could easily be seen as an attempted redirection to try and restore the status quo of liberal VS conservative, north VS south, white VS black as opposed to the building issue of poor & middle-class VS super-rich.

So it's conspiracy bullshit?
Like, I think we as a society can do more than one thing at once
So it's conspiracy bullshit?
Hence the "it could easily be seen as" thing. There's no conspiracy that the media has been playing that angle up and that it alienates a certain demographic that is predominantly lower class. A perceived conspiracy would be that someone is guiding them to do it for a purpose.
So you're saying that the Confederate flag is a false flag?
How the fuck could anyone know know unless they live at the bottom of the ocean?
The majority lives in a figurative bottom of the ocean really.
So you're saying that the Confederate flag is a false flag?
Grimhound is onto something here, actually.
While the debate over the Confederate flag is certainly one worth engaging in, the massive amount of screentime that has been given to it undermines more productive discussions about race and class issues.
And furthermore, it's not some happy accident - the system of corporate media is built to avoid discussing issues that undermine those in positions of economic and political power.
It's no conspiracy or false flag, but a natural consequence of the capitalist system.
More Americans have been victimized by hillbilly racist hicks than ISIS so of course one symbol has far more recognition than the other.
I think it's safe to say though that ISIS are far more hated since they actually kill people, while hillbilly racists are just laughed at because of their dumb opinions.
