Well, it's not a full experience, but it gives a touch more clarity to it.
the fuck it does. It brings as much clarity to the taliban's side of the war as little kids playing cowboys and indians bring to the oppression of native american peoples.
Cowboys and Indians? That's a kid's game, and don't get me started on kids playing video games that're above their age range. It's the parent's fault for buying them a game that isn't for their age range, they should bloody well wise up about age ratings before they buy their 12 year old a copy of MW2.
But on the subject of the lack of clarity, I guess the developers would need to do a bit more research, bring a bit more clarity to the subject of the Taliban's "mission".
Yet they allow us to play games as Nazis.
Probably because that war was roughly 70 years ago in the past.
I dunno, i mean imagine if you were on the front line fighting insurgents, or have known good friends killed in action whilst doing so... It'd be pretty disrespectful to those men to brand thier deaths as entertainment. Then again, vice versa. I wish all these wars would hurry up and end.
Did anyone else read the title thinking he was talking about the real Medal of Honor?.
Lol, yeah. I thought it was ridiculous.
I started to read and then realized after reading the first line it was the game.
It's silly to play a multiplayer game about a conflict, and only play as one side. It kinda ruins the experience as you don't see it from multiple perspectives. Only by seeing the conflict from both perspectives can you truly experience war, 'cause if you only know one side of the story, you're kinda biased in terms of opinion. Knowing both sides of the story can enlighten you, give you a clearer, less-biased opinion on the matter. But they don't want us to know the other side of the story, lest we become able to relate with the other side.
Would they rather have us playing two sides of GIs beating the shit out each other? :v:
By shooting a bunch of pixels and another bunch of pixels, you are going to--
Fuck this, this kind of stuff is just so stupid to do. It's not gonna accomplish anything. It's like trying to stop piracy. People will always get around it and wont give a damn about the reasons.
Except this is actually dumb to do.
If it's that much of a problem, surely they could just change the name to OpFor? I think that's the reason why COD4 got nothing said about it, because you're just playing as an opposing force, not a Taliban soldier or something.
Would they rather have us playing two sides of GIs beating the shit out each other? :v:
Well now that just wouldn't make any sense, unless it involved PMC's instead.
He should take his stupidity, and go away.
Probably because that war was roughly 70 years ago in the past.
Ignoring that the Nazi's occupied half of Europe and began mass exterminations.
"Let's claim on every-fucking-thing possible!" "Let's raise taxes!"
"HURR DURR GAME SHOWS TO SIDES TO AN ONGOING CONFLICT, BAN IT."
What the fuck is wrong with politicians? Bunch of fucked up psycho's who want things to go their way is what's wron with them...
Maybe one day our generation will take over everything so all of this stupid bullshit will stop.
We can count on ourselves right?
^^ I'd be inclined to agree. The specific detail of the Taliban makes it just a little more distasteful than the faceless Ts from CS:S. Despite all the big voracious "HURR GET OVER IT" that's going on in this thread, I doubt anyone would dare say it to the grieving widow or child of a dead soldier.
Oh lord. They do need to get over it, I doubt WWII veterans were shitting their pants when CoD came out.
Sounds like Russia and MW2. Anyone think this is quite weird that 2 games have been banned all involving terrorist?

I'm sure there are many recently discharged US soldiers who would have fun playing MW2 or Medal Of Honor.
It's a skin for fucks sake, you could be a bipedal hippopotamus if it were tweaked, unless Al-Queda propoganda flashes up while playing as the Insurgents.
Since when were there any British Soldiers in a Medal of Honor game?
Ignorant fucker.
I don't suppose you are a follower of the medal of honour series? There are British in quite a number of the games..
Also liam fox you are a sad sad man
We've Beaten the Aussies to the Ban request
The day that a game which involves Americans as invading antagonists comes out will be the day that pigs fly though. Im talking single player with you playing as a Russian, Vietnamese or whatever bloke. If you think it's a shitstorm now over a player model in a multiplayer game imagine an entire single player campaign, sure it probably won't sell well in the US but fuck em anyway, I wouldn't mind playing the other side of the game.
shite I forgot "Red Hammer" an expansion to the original Operation Flashpoint, but then again not many people played it, shame too it was really good.
There is some game, can't remember the name though, where the you play as a nazi in the campaign.
why should he care if you can play taliban in a game
its a video game for christsakes
Jesus christ, can they give it a fucking break already?
I can't even be bothered to get mad at this bullshit anymore it's just pathetic.
If you don't like it, don't give them your fucking money.
Dipshits.
British forces are taking a bit of a drubbing at the moment. Seems like a bit of a kick in the teeth that you can partake, whether it be real or not.

It's a fucking video game.

Spoilers: No brits in this MoH and reiteration of that Fox doesn't know what he's whining about.
It's a fucking video game.
I wish people that use that staement would out a bit more meat on their argument. It means nothing.
At the end of the day, it's generic war shooters like this that make people think that all games are like this, and blame them for school shootings.
We know there's nothing in it, some people seem to have a screw loose and will 'train' in games like this (Columbine etc.). All I'm doing is thinking like a senior politician, and I see where he's coming from. Do I agree? No. Will others? Definitley.
Glorifying an ongoing war is a strange moral dilemma. What if there was a Pakistan flood simulator? Would that be okay? It's the same area.
Censorship is the best

Yes. It would. Well, depends what you mean by "okay" but it certainly shouldn't be banned.
Another Tory out of touch with reality.
Liam Fox should concentrate on getting the job in Afghanistan done. Not about getting a cheap headline in the tabloids.
