My friends who've gone off to war, and have had nothing to do except sit on base and play COD (if you didn't get the newsflash also depicts this) think this is complete bullshit. Politicians pull this shit for attention...
So realistic.

This is just a politician trying to get some free publicity and sympathy support. Nothing new really.
Oh for fucking sakes. "MY KID IS GUNNA PLAY AS TALIBAN AND THEN HE'LL BECOME ONE AND KILL EVERYONE!" People are going to far with this story.
A muslim kid might enjoy doing it... killing nato troops and all. who says it has to be some fat american nerd?
A muslim kid might enjoy doing it... killing nato troops and all. who says it has to be some fat american nerd?
Really
To the people using the "But it's okay to play as Nazis in DoD?" argument, those were German soldiers, not Nazis. If they were Nazis they wouldn't have been wearing those kinda clothes or even doing that kind of work (unless they were the SS, whihc I'm not gonna get into).
I just lost a little bit of respect for the UK.
This is a very complicated issue. If it's not OK to play as the Taliban, is it not OK to play as the Nazis, or the Vietcong, or the Iraqis in Gulf War 1? Where's the cut-off point? But on the other hand, this is extremely insensitive, and while I appreciate that humans make much better adversaries than AI, there really is no need to have the Taliban as one of the teams for multiplayer. And imagine if you were a squaddie on leave and you played this game, playing as the people who shot at - and possibly killed - your friends would be very upsetting. Or if you have a relative who died in the war. Of course, you could say that people in those circumstances could just not buy the game, but the fact is that game shops will promote it, the publisher will promote it, and people who play it will talk about it. Banning the game would stop that from happening. It could be unbanned some time after the war ends, of course (although today's graphics-hungry audience might well poo-poo it). And, after all, we are very very lucky that unlike previous wars there is very little propaganda being shown. Of course, scandals uncovered by the media can help the war effort - the shell shortage in WWI is brought to mind - but this is not journalism, this is a game designed to make people feel good and cool and have fun.

NO it is training our children to be TALIBAN TERRORISTS! This game contains BOMB RECIPES and GUNS!!!!
Project Reality has been doing this for god knows how long, and with more then just the Taliban.
im waiting for a tactical RTS where you play as osama bin laden commanding his forces in a cave, fuck a single taliban lackey
EA don't deserve all this bad press. :(
I can't believe I am fucking reading this! REMEMBER COMMAND & CONQUER, ASSHOLES! They deserve it!
Can't believe how people think if you do something in a game that you are going to do it in reality.
I can tell Australia will be banning this.
This is my biggest annoyance that I see in America.
Everyone's like "YOU FUCKIN TERRORISTS KILLED MY FAMILY'S MEMBERS, YOU SAVAGES", but they don't even acknowledge that the Taliban or the insurgents have families too.
It's not like the Taliban and the insurgents are robots programmed to only fight or something.
what the fuck
why do I find myself agreeing with Gmod_Fan77

I've never played C&C, so I wouldn't really know. Sorry.
People are mixing reality with virtual reality too much.
It's just a goddamn game. People will get their hands on it some way or another anyway...
He just said the game was disrespectful.
What, but pretending to kill people in World War II is fine and dandy because it was long ago?
It's not very palatable, but you can't just go around banning distasteful things.
A muslim kid might enjoy doing it... killing nato troops and all. who says it has to be some fat american nerd?
Are you implying Muslims don't fight on the side of NATO or that Muslims can't be American? I'm not sure what's worse.

The fuck? I live in Australia FYI and I was saying that they will probably ban this, no meme included.

It's the same with the talliban, not all are moronic idiots who kill help.
Because gamers still gather "points" in video games

What's your avatar from?
Chances are this ban won't go through, since only 3 games have been banned in the UK, and all 3 have since been ban revoked. The three games were Carmegeddon, Manhunt 2 and The Punisher, so you have a standard for the amount of merciless beatings needed for a ban.
Wait, he's talking about multiplayer? I thought he was talking about a whole Taliban campaign or something. What a whiny bugger, who the hell moans about different textures for the sake of gameplay?

He's obviously got real life and video games mixed up
You dont hear Russia bitching after they've been used in countless war games where they're seen as the enemy :colbert:
If they just called the opposing side "Opfor" they would've gotten away with it in the same way CoD has been.
You gamers do not understand the way of Allah. We buy this game to defeat the oppression of the coalition infidels. I revel in the killing of the British soldiers as it gives us Taliban a training mechanism to know what we are up against.
Allahu Akbar.

That is some ban history.
Is there no way people from facepunch can reach out to these politicians with these arguments?
This is not even half as bad as the airfield level on MW6 Where you fill a few hundred people/cops/soldiers with lead.
Also isn't Css bascily the same?
PS. I blame fox news for this ...

I can't get over why they banned this game because ONE person went psycho and took his friend to the woods with a huge knife and decapitated him.
What is the point of that? Blaming it on a game...
Coincidence? I think not.
I was watching a late-night Fox News show and they all agreed the whole Medal of Honor thing was bullshit, don't know where you've been getting your info.
